Apple MacBook Pro 16 2023 M3 Pro recension - Effektivitet före prestanda

Extremt lång batteritid. Grundversionen av den nya MacBook Pro 16 är utrustad med den fullständiga versionen av Apple M3 Pro, även om den inte erbjuder mycket mer prestanda än M2 Pro. Å andra sidan har den grundläggande SSD blivit snabbare igen och den maximala SDR-ljusstyrkan ökades. Dessutom möjliggör en förbättrad effektivitet en extremt lång batteritid.

Vi har redan testat den nya avancerade versionen av MacBook Pro 16 2023med M3 Max, men grundmodellen med M3 Pro SoC till ett pris av 2 999 euro (~3 272 USD) kan vara mycket mer intressant för de flesta användare. Även om mer prestanda aldrig skadar är det inte alla användare som behöver den extrema prestandan (både CPU och GPU) hos nya M3 Max. I motsats till den mindre MacBook Pro 14levereras MBP 16 endast med den snabbaste versionen av M3 Pro. Trots det höga priset har grundmodellen fortfarande kvar sin 512 GB SSD.

Skillnader från MacBook Pro 16 med M3 Max

Det finns inga skillnader när det gäller fodralet och anslutningarna mellan konfigurationerna med M3 Pro och M3 Max som vi redan har testade i detalj. Den interna konstruktionen är också helt identisk, med undantag för videoanslutningarna. Medan MBP 16 med M3 Max kan styra maximalt fyra externa skärmar samtidigt, kan M3 Pro bara hantera upp till två externa skärmar (med maximala upplösningar som är identiska med M3 Max).

Prestanda - Apple M3 Pro med 18 GB RAM-minne

Processor - 6 prestandakärnor

Även om den nya M3 Pro SoC finns tillgänglig i två versioner, levereras den stora MacBook Pro 16 endast med den snabbare versionen. Precis som sin föregångare erbjuder processorn totalt tolv CPU-kärnor, men kärnkonfigurationen har ändrats. Medan M2 Proanvände åtta prestanda- och fyra effektivitetskärnor, är det nu sex prestanda- och sex effektivitetskärnor. Jämfört med de gamla M2-chipen (Pro/Max) använder CPU-klustren i M3 Pro/Max nu sex istället för fyra kärnor. Själva kärnorna har samma specifikationer som de andra M3-processorerna, där Performance-kärnorna kan nå upp till 4,056 GHz och Efficiency-kärnorna upp till 2,748 GHz, vilket också är fallet i praktiken. Hastigheten på lagringsgränssnittet minskades från 256 bitar till 192 bitar, vilket resulterade i en maximal lagringsbandbredd på nu bara 150 GB/s istället för 200 GB/s.

Naturligtvis är den första intressanta jämförelsen med den gamla M2 Prosom visade en maximal strömförbrukning på ~34 watt i våra tester. Flerkärnighetsprestandan i de inbyggda testerna är bara några procentenheter högre (mellan 2% och 6%), vilket gör den nästan identisk i praktiken. Men samtidigt kunde Apple också minska strömförbrukningen, som nu bara är knappt 26-27 watt. I jämförelse med de nuvarande Intel-processorerna presterar M3 Pro på samma nivå som Core i7-13700H iSamsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra eller Dell XPS 15 9530i flerkärniga tester, även om båda dessa förbrukar betydligt mer ström i detta.

I single-core-testerna var dock nya M3 Pro (precis som den vanliga M3 & M3 Max) kan övertyga oss helt, och vi ser en prestandafördel på 20% jämfört med den gamla M2-generationen, trots en liknande CPU-förbrukning på ~ 5,6 watt. Med detta överträffas Apple -chipet bara knappt av Core i9-13905Hi vårt jämförelsefält, men som också förbrukar betydligt mer ström under enkelkärnig belastning. Vi kommer att ge en närmare analys av effektiviteten i vår analys av M3 Pro / M3 Max som kommer att publiceras inom kort.

Som vanligt förblir CPU-prestandan helt konstant i batteridrift. Vi körde också vår vanliga Cinebench R15 Multi-loop, men här måste du notera att prestandan är något reducerad på grund av emuleringen. Vi ser också en liten fördel jämfört med den gamla M2 Prohär, och slingan visar mycket tydligt att CPU-prestandan förblir helt stabil även under konstant belastning. Varje Macbook Pro med en Apple M SoC, oavsett om det är M1, M2 eller M3, ger ett extremt högt subjektivt prestandaintryck, och den ökade enkelkärniga prestandan hos nya M3 Prostöder detta intryck ytterligare. Alla applikationer, även komplexa, startar snabbt och inbyggda appar körs extremt bra. I CrossMark-testet över plattformar överträffas MBP 16 M3 Pro endast av den snabbare MBP 16 M3 Maxmedan Windows-konkurrenterna lämnas bakom. I grund och botten är även den minsta MacBook Pro 16 utmärkt lämpad för video- och fotobearbetning.

Program för Intel Mac kan emuleras tack vare Rosetta 2, och detta fungerar också bra. Men det medför också vissa kostnader när det gäller prestanda, vilket blir särskilt märkbart i mer komplexa applikationer. Vi körde de två PugetBench-testerna för Adobe Photoshop och Premiere Pro, och resultaten var fortfarande mycket respektabla.

Lagringslösning

Grundversionen av MacBook Pro 16 fortsätter att levereras med en 512-GB SSD (AP0512Z). Den gamla MacBook Pro 14 med M2 Proanvände mindre NAND-chips än tidigare, vilket hade ett negativt inflytande på överföringshastigheterna. Vi blev därför mycket förvånade över att nu se fyra NAND-chips igen, vilket också är fallet för den nya MacBook Pro 14 M3 Pro med 512-GB SSD, förresten. Överföringshastigheterna har nu ökat igen och vi ser ett maximum på nästan 6 GB/s vid läsning och ~4,5 GB/s vid skrivning av data. Grafikkort

I likhet med processorn har även antalet kärnor i grafikkorten förändrats. Medan toppmodellen av M2 Pro fortfarande erbjöd 19 GPU-kärnorfinns det nu 18 GPU-kärnor i M3 Pro. Även om vi inte kan läsa klockhastigheten antar vi också att det finns en ökning här. I de flesta riktmärken ser vi en liten prestandaökning jämfört med M2 Pro med 19 GPU-kärnor (med undantag för Geekbench 6.2). Strömförbrukningen har dock också ökat något från 25 till 28 watt. Så i motsats till processorn blev grafikkortet inte mer effektivt, och det finns också en stillestånd när det gäller prestanda, vilket är lite nykterande.

I WildLife Extreme Unlimited-testet placerar M3 Pro GPU sig före RTX 4050 bärbar dator (65 watt), men något bakom RTX 4060 bärbar dator (80 watt). I OpenCL-testerna hamnar dock M3 Pro GPU betydligt efter de dedikerade GeForce -konkurrenterna.

Grafikprestandan förblir stabil hela tiden, både under konstant belastning och vid batteridrift, vilket inte är fallet med de flesta GeForce GPU:er. Du kan hitta ytterligare GPU-riktmärken här.

Spelprestanda

Vi nämnde redan i de andra recensionerna att det finns flera sätt att spela spel med MacBook. Förutom emulerade spel och användning av ytterligare programvara som CrossOver har du också några andra alternativ vid denna tidpunkt (som GTA V eller Cyberpunk 2077), även om du inte alltid kommer att kunna använda hårdvarans fulla potential och naturligtvis finns det inte heller några optimeringar här.

Native-spel kommer naturligtvis att köras bäst, och vid denna tidpunkt inkluderar de också flera AAA-spel som Baldur's Gate 3 eller No Man's Sky. Dessa spel körs också mycket bra på MacBook Pro, och du kan vanligtvis också använda de högsta inställningarna. Jämfört med Windows-datorer är spelprestandan dock fortfarande betydligt lägre än för en GeForce RTX 4050 bärbar dator. De som vill spela enstaka spel på MacBook och är nöjda med det begränsade urvalet kommer inte att bli besvikna, men du måste också förstå att det här inte är en riktig bärbar dator för spel. Utsläpp - Nästan alltid tyst

Bullernivåer

De två fläktarna på MacBook Pro 16 är vanligtvis helt omärkbara vid låg till medelhög belastning. Även den första fläktnivån på 1 400 rpm som producerar 25,1 dB(A) blir bara hörbar om du placerar örat direkt bredvid den bärbara datorn. Tack vare det effektiva M3 Pro-chippet är även spel möjligt på den här nivån. Det maximala varvtal vi uppmätte under native gaming var ca 1 900 rpm, vilket motsvarade endast ca 26,2 dB(A). Efter 20 minuters konstant belastning ledde 3DMark WildLife Extreme-stresstestet bara till ~ 1 900 rpm, och med Cinebench R23 Multi var det maximalt 2 400 rpm med 31,1 dB(A) efter 30 minuter.

Endast i stresstestet med en kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning nådde fläktarna upp till 4 400 rpm under de första minuterna av testet, vilket ledde till en hög 50,4 dB(A). Anledningen till detta ligger i fläktbeteendet, eftersom chipet först tillåts bli mycket varmt (mer än 100 °C, 212 °F) innan fläktarna sedan måste försöka åtgärda detta. Under det fortsatta stresstestet planar sedan fläkthastigheten ut på 3 600 till 3 800 varv per minut. I praktiken gör detta MBP 16 M3 Pro till och med något högre än MBP 16 med M3 Max (i automatiskt läge), vilket vi kommer att förklara i avsnittet Stresstest nedan.

Under stresstestet under full belastning är MacBook nästan på konkurrenternas ljudnivå, med endast Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultraär tystare, även om detta beror på dess betydligt lägre prestanda under kombinerad belastning (CPU: 17 watt, GPU: 12 watt). I alla andra belastningsscenarier är MBP 16 dock fortfarande betydligt tystare. I motsats till M3 Max-modellernamärkte vi inte av något spolningsljud eller andra elektroniska ljud i MacBook med M3 Pro.

Temperaturer

Problem med höga temperaturer förblir främmande för MacBook Pro 16 med M3 Pro. Med mindre krävande uppgifter värms inte höljet upp alls. Under stresstestet nådde yttemperaturerna knappt 37 till 38 °C (99-100 °F) på de varmaste platserna, på grund av den ökade fläktaktiviteten. Det värsta scenariot representeras av spel när fläktarna vanligtvis körs med 1 400 till 1 900 rpm, men även här ger ett maximum på 42 °C (108 °F) absolut ingen anledning till oro. 140-wattsladdaren uppnår en maximal temperatur på 45 °C (113 °F).

Stresstest

Stresstestet med en kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning är mycket intressant, eftersom det visar en betydande skillnad mot modell med M3 Max. Även i stresstestet kan M3 Pro leverera full prestanda från processorn och grafikkortet under hela tiden. Sammantaget ligger strömförbrukningen på cirka 55 watt. Detta är mycket intressant, eftersom GPU: n tydligt gavs företräde i M3 Max, och den kunde bara hållas sval upp till en gräns på cirka 48 watt totalt. Vi misstänker att den snabbare GPU: n i M3 Max helt enkelt producerar mer värme, vilket ställer högre krav på kylningen.
