Qualcomm SD 678

Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 (SD678) är en ARM-baserad SoC i mellanklass som främst används i Android-surfplattor och smartphones. Den har 8 Kryo 460 kallade kärnor (64-bitars kapacitet) som är uppdelade i två kluster. Ett snabbt kluster med två kärnor med upp till 2,2 GHz och baserat på ARM Cortex-A76-designen. Och ett energisparande effektivitetskluster med upp till 1,7 GHz och baserat på mycket mindre ARM Cortex-A55-kärnor. Båda klustren kan också användas tillsammans. Jämfört med den gamla Snapdragon 675 har kärnornas klockfrekvens ökat med 200 MHz för A76 och 100 MHz för A55-kärnorna.

Förutom de 8 CPU-kärnorna integrerar SoC:n en Adreno 612 GPU i lägre mellanklass, ett X12 LTE-modem med upp till 600 Mbps nedladdning (Cat 12) och 150 Mbps uppladdning (Cat 13), ett 802.11ac (Wifi 5) Wave 2 WLAN-modem (upp till 867 Mbps), en Bluetooth 5.0-radio, satellitpositionering (GPS, QZSS, GLONASS, SBAS, Beidou och Galileo) och en videomotor (upp till 4k30-kodning och stöd för H.265, H.264, VP8 och VP9).

Prestanda

Jämfört med den gamla Snapdragon 675 är 678 endast något snabbare i våra benchmarks. Tack vare de två snabba Cortex-A76-baserade kärnorna kan SD678 till och med överträffa den gamla avancerade Snapdragon 835 SoC i vissa riktmärken.

Snapdragon 678 tillverkas i samma 11nm LPP-process (Low Power Plus) hos Samsung som 675 som är en kombination av 14nm och 10nm. Jämfört med 14nm LPP ska 11nm LPP-processen kunna öka prestandan med 15 % och minska chipstorleken med 10 % enligt Samsung.
