Recension av Framework Laptop 13.5 med Intel 12th gen - Som Microsoft Surface, men går faktiskt att reparera

Byggd kring en gemenskap. När den ursprungliga Framework Laptop lanserades förra året var ett av de viktigaste löftena att ägarna skulle kunna uppgradera till nyare processorer genom att bara byta moderkortet. Tillverkaren står fast vid sina påståenden även med 2022 års modell.

Den ursprungliga 13,5-tums Framework Laptop som lanserades 2021 var utrustad med Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake-U-processorer. I stark kontrast till andra ultratunna modeller från större tillverkare som ofta är slutna och svåra att serva, skulle Framework-designen prioritera reparerbarhet och uppmuntra uppgraderingar av slutanvändare. Faktum är att tillverkaren öppet säljer enskilda komponenter till Framework Laptop a la carte om ägarna skulle behöva byta ut några delar. Den senaste 2022-modellen finns nu tillgänglig med snabbare Intel 12th gen Alder Lake-P CPUs men med samma övergripande chassidesign för att bevara bakåtkompatibilitet med befintliga tillbehör och komponenter

Eftersom skelettet inte har ändrats rekommenderar vi att du kollar in vår befintliga recension av 2021-modellen för mer information om de fysiska attributen hos 2022-modellen. Allt från skärmen till tangentbordet och de flesta material är tillbaka utan några större förändringar. Vår specifika granskningsenhet kommer med Core i7-1260P för cirka 1450 USD men användare kan konfigurera med den mindre i5-1240P eller högre i7-1280P om så önskas. Alla SKU:er kommer dock fortfarande med samma 2256 x 1504 IPS-panel.

Alternativ till Framework Laptop inkluderar andra 13-tums Ultrabooks som HP Spectre x360 14, Lenovo ThinkPad X1, Asus Zenbook S13, och naturligtvis Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 13.

Hölje

Den enda ändringen i chassit innebär att man övergår till CNC-tillverkning och montering av topplocket för att förbättra lockets styvhet utan att ändra de totala måtten. Vi tyckte att locket var tunnt på 2021 års version och därför är den nyare designen en välkommen förändring. Trots detta är locken på de flesta konkurrerande alternativ som XPS 13, Spectre x360 14, Zenbook S13, Razer Blade Stealth, eller MateBook X-serien fortsätter att vara mycket starkare och styvare. Ramkonstruktionen saknar märkbart nog alla alternativ med Gorilla Glass, vilket skulle ha förstärkt och styvt locket.

Kommunikation

Även om Intel AX210-modulen inte har ändrats från förra årets modell har vi sedan dess uppgraderat våra testroutrar för att stödja 6 GHz-anslutning och därmed kan snabbare genomsnittliga överföringshastigheter registreras, vilket visas nedan.

Tillbehör

De unika USB-C-baserade expansionskorten har alla återkommit i år, förutom ett nytt Ethernet-expansionskort som stöder upp till 2,5 Gbit. Alla är valbara och konfigurerbara vid kassan. Tillverkaren kommer att fortsätta att utveckla olika expansionskort baserat på användarnas efterfrågan.

Varje detaljhandelsförpackning innehåller en Torxnyckel för service av enheten.

Tillverkaren kalibrerar inte sin Framework Laptop på fabriken, vilket är synd eftersom panelen har full sRGB-täckning. Genomsnittliga DeltaE-värden för gråskala och färg på vår testenhet skulle vara 5,2 respektive 2,76 utanför förpackningen, jämfört med bara 0,9 och 0,58 efter att vi kalibrerat panelen själva. Särskilt färgtemperaturen är alldeles för varm utan en ordentlig kalibrering. Vi rekommenderar att du tillämpar vår ICM-profil ovan för att få ut det mesta av skärmen.

Display Response Times

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Testförhållanden

Vi ställde in vår enhet i prestandaläget via Windows innan vi körde alla prestandabänkningar nedan.

Processor

Jämfört med Core i7-1165G7 i den ursprungliga bärbara Framework Laptop är Core i7-1260P i 2022 Framework-modellen kan erbjuda 20 procent och 90 procent snabbare prestanda för enkeltråds och flertrådsfunktioner. Faktum är att Framework-modellen körs 20 till 25 procent snabbare än den genomsnittliga bärbara datorn i vår databas som körs med samma Core i7-1260P CPU hittills. Vi är glada över att tillverkaren erbjuder CPU:er i den 12:e generationen av P-serien i stället för den 12:e generationen av U-serien som den Core i5-1235U och i7-1255U erbjuder mycket mindre prestandafördelar jämfört med den 11:e generationens U-serie

Nedgradering till Core i5-1240P alternativet från vår Core i7-1260P väntas medföra ett 45-procentigt underskott i prestanda för flera trådar, medan en uppgradering till Core i7-1260P Core i7-1280P skulle bara öka prestandan med cirka 10 procent. Därför är Core i7-1260P SKU det mest rekommenderade alternativet.
