Recension av Dell 16S DS16260: En bättre version av Dell 16 Plus

Mycket prisvärd beroende på konfigurationen.

16S är en enorm uppgradering jämfört med förra årets Dell 16 Plus. Vid högre konfigurationsnivåer kan priserna dock skjuta i höjden till orimliga nivåer, vilket gör XPS 16 till det bättre köpet.

Omdöme — Starkt mainstream till rätt pris

Dell 16S har en starkare och mer genomarbetad chassidesign jämfört med förra årets Dell 16 Plus, utan att man behövt kompromissa med antalet portar eller underhållsvänligheten. Alternativen för processor och skärm har också förbättrats och inkluderar nu en 120 Hz OLED-skärm och, kanske mest anmärkningsvärt, Core Ultra X7 för samma nivå av grafikprestanda som den senaste XPS 16. Bara den uppdaterade designen gör att den nya modellen är värd att överväga framför förra årets modell.

Även om startpriserna för Dell 16S är rimliga är det värt att notera att de lätt kan skjuta i höjden till över 2 000 USD, vilket gör modellen svårare att rekommendera vid vissa konfigurationsnivåer. Konfigurationen med Core Ultra 7 355 börjar till exempel på 1 310 dollar, medan en enkel uppgradering av processorn till Core Ultra X7 358H skulle höja priset avsevärt till 2 120 dollar. Att konfigurera XPS 16 med samma processor är bara något dyrare, 2 350 USD, även med samma mängd RAM-minne och lagringsutrymme samt en liknande IPS-skärm. Därför kan användare som önskar den snabbare Core Ultra X7 lika gärna lägga lite mer på den överlägsna XPS 16-upplevelsen, medan Dell 16S är mycket lättare att sälja i de mellersta Core Ultra 7-konfigurationsnivåerna.

Pris och tillgänglighet

Dell levererar nu 16S från 1 310 dollar för konfigurationen med Core Ultra 7 och FHD-skärm.

Precis som 14-tumsmodellen Dell 14S är efterföljaren till den äldre Dell 14 Plus, är den vanliga 16-tumsmodellen Dell 16S efterföljaren till förra årets Dell 16 Plus. Den nya modellen har flera uppdateringar, särskilt när det gäller chassidesignen, samtidigt som processoralternativen har uppdaterats från Intel Lunar Lake till både Panther Lake och AMD Zen 5.

Vår testmodell är en mellankonfiguration med Intel Core Ultra 7 355-processor och en 1800p OLED-pekskärm till ett pris på cirka 1 700 USD. Andra modeller kan levereras med den kraftfullare Core Ultra X7 358H eller istället ha IPS-skärmar med lägre upplösning.

Bland konkurrenterna finns andra 16-tums multimedialaptops i mellanklassen, såsom Lenovo Ideapad Slim 5, HP OmniBook 5-serien eller Asus VivoBook S16-serien.
