Recension av Acer Swift X 14 laptop med RTX 3050: Underutmanad i5-1240P

Lätt spelhybrid på 1,4 kg. Acer Swift X 14 är en lätt bärbar dator på 1,4 kg med en Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, lång batteritid, 16:10-skärm och hög systemprestanda. Grafikprestandan kraschar dock fortfarande helt vid batteridrift, och inte ens den snabba SSD-enheten och det skarpa tangentbordet hjälper i det fallet.

Acer Swift X 14 (2022) erbjuder en GeForce RTX 3050i ett lätt hölje på 1,4 kg, kombinerat med en 16:10-skärm i 2,2K-upplösning, Intel Alder Lake P-processorer (Core i5-1240P som i vår testenhet eller alternativtCore i7-1260P), en mycket snabb PCIe 4.0 SSD (512 GB) och 16 GB lödda DDR5-4800 RAM-minne.

Den robusta subnotebooken med multimediaambitioner innehåller också ytterligare uppdateringar, som HDMI 2.1, en webbkamera med 1 080p, ett förbättrat ljudsystem och ett förbättrat tangentbord. På det hela taget kombinerar Acer kontor, multimedia och Full-HD-spel i en kompakt 14-tums bärbar dator.

Även om det också finns en modell med en kraftfullare RTX 3050 Tifinns tillgänglig, erbjuder konkurrenterna högre effektgränser för GPU och CPU, som Dells Inspiron 14 Plusmed enCore i7-12700Hoch RTX 3050 (50 W) eller Asus Vivobook Pro 14med liknande hårdvara och OLED-skärm, men Honor MagicBook 14medGeForce RTX 2050bör inte heller underskattas.

Fallet är i stort sett detsamma, så du kan hitta detaljerna i vår granskning av föregångaren. I år motstår dock locket försök att vrida sig och kan inte längre öppnas med en hand. Dimensionerna har ändrats något med den inbyggda 16:10-skärmen, och tangentbordet är nu svart istället för vitt.

Formfaktorn motsvarar en 13-tums bärbar dator. Det är den mest kompakta och med 1,4 kg också den lättaste enheten i vårt jämförelsefält, med alla konkurrenter som också erbjuder en dedikerad grafikenhet.

Det upplysta tangentbordet med ett steg har förbättrats jämfört med det i förra årets Swift X 14. Tryckpunkten är väl accentuerad och tangentmotståndet tydligt märkbart, så att snabbskrivande lyckas utan problem, trots den korta tangentsträckan. Förutom att man har tagit bort de separata bild upp- och ned-tangenterna förblir layouten densamma. Tangentbordet har ingen eftergivenhet när man skriver.

Pekplatta

Pekplattan är ny och tillverkad av återvunnen plast som kallas "OceanGlass" Även om det är samma pekplatta som i den större Swift X 16är responsbeteendet betydligt bättre och mer exakt. Drag-&-drop, pinch-to-zoom och scrollning genomförs utan problem. Även om ytan erbjuder ett visst motstånd mot de glidande fingrarna är pekplattan inte dålig.

När det gäller skärmen erbjuder Acer Swift X 14 några välkomna förbättringar. Inte bara bytet till 16:10-formatet utan även den högre upplösningen på 2 240 x 1 400 pixlar leder till en högre njutning när du läser innehållet på den matta IPS-displayen. Den goda ljusstyrkan på 330 nits är på samma nivå som hos konkurrenterna i vårt jämförelsefält. 400 nits hade dock fortfarande varit önskvärt för bekväm läsning av skärmen under en ljus himmel utomhus.

Överlag ligger panelens värden förvånansvärt nära dem för Dell Inspiron 14 Plus. Med 1 621:1 är kontrasten riklig, och tillsammans med det låga svartvärdet på 0,21 nits kan du njuta av en mättad svart. Det vita värdet är ett optimalt 6 573 K.

3:2-displayen på Honor MagicBook 14visar också liknande värden, även om den använder PWM för ljusstyrning. Detta är inte fallet i vår testenhet. Asus Vivobook Pro 14har den överlägset bästa panelen i vår jämförelse och erbjuder en 3K OLED-skärm med 90 Hz uppdateringsfrekvens, men som också använder PWM

Vi märker en kraftig bakgrundsbelysningsblödning i vår panel, som till och med syns tydligt vid vanlig användning. Ett alternativ för en OLED-panel, högre uppdateringsfrekvens eller högre upplösning är inte tillgängligt.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 17900 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Acer Swift X 14 är utformad för en blandning av kontorsarbete och enstaka Full-HD-spel och/eller grafikarbete, vilket ska möjliggöras av den medföljande GeForce RTX 3050från Nvidia. De 16 GB DDR5-4800 RAM-minne som är inlösta i alla modeller stöder också den semiprofessionella användningen.

Utöver denCore i5-1240Pfinns det även modeller med IntelsCore i7-1260Psom innehåller en 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, i stället för 512 GB-versionen i vår testenhet. AMD-versioner finns inte längre tillgängliga.

Med hjälp av Acers app Quick Access kan du välja mellan tre strömlägen. Vid nätdrift har dessa ingen effekt på processorns och grafikens prestanda. Processorn ökas till 50 watt i cirka 15 sekunder, innan den konstant körs på 25 watt. Det som förändras är fläktbeteendet, vilket vi diskuterar mer i detalj i avsnittet Utsläpp nedan.

Det tysta läget har endast effekt på prestandan vid kombinerad CPU+GPU-belastning och i kombination med Windows strömprofil Bästa prestanda. Men det påverkar bara GPU-prestanda, som då börjar fluktuera (runt 25 watt i genomsnitt). Vid batteridrift fördelas prestandan mellan de två komponenterna oberoende av det valda läget: 9 watt (CPU) + 11 watt (dGPU).

Det mest intressanta fallet är kombinationen av prestandaläget med Windows profil Bästa energibesparing. Den dynamiska förstärkningen avGeForce RTX 3050aktiveras då (35 watt + 5 watt) och grafikprestandan ökar med 5 till 10 %, beroende på programmet.

Vi körde dock våra GPU-tester liksom alla andra prestandatester i med Windows-profilen Bästa prestanda i kombination med Performance Mode i Acers Quick Access-app. WLAN- och videobatteritiderna fastställdes däremot i motsvarande balanserade lägen.

Vår testenhet av Acer Swift X 14 drivs av en Core i5-1240Pfrån Intel. Dess fyra prestandakärnor har en maximal klockfrekvens på 4,4 GHz. Här når de 3,2 GHz för att sedan plana ut till 2,1 GHz efter cirka 15 sekunder, så att CPU:ns klockfrekvens åtminstone håller sig över grundklockfrekvensen på 1,7 GHz. Efter flera minuter ligger temperaturen på 65 °C.

Eftersom kylsystemet kan kyla 64 watt konstant - i scenarier med kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning - är effektgränsen på 25 watt (PL1) en liten besvikelse.

I den störreSwift X 16går samma processor cirka 15-25 procent snabbare med en PL1 på 35 watt. Föregångarmodellen med en Ryzen 5 5500Uhexa-core-processor ligger på samma nivå i flerkärniga uppgifter. På den tiden hade du också ett alternativ för en Ryzen 7 5800Uocta-core-processor, som vanligtvis går snabbare än en Alder Lake med samma TDP.

Asus Vivobook Pro 14med enRyzen 5 5600Höverträffas knappt. Beroende på användningsområde kan HonorMagicBook 14och Dells Inspiron 14 Plusett avstånd på cirka 40-60 % till vår testenhet, vilket beror på deras snabbare Alder Lake H-processorer.

Vi mätte prestandan och höjde effektgränsen till 45 watt med verktyget "Throttlestop", medan temperaturerna steg till maximalt 87 °C (188,6 °F). Med detta är prestandatillväxten i flerkärniga applikationer upp till 33 %. Vi rekommenderar dock inte att man kör CPU:n utanför de gränser som anges av tillverkaren. Vi vill bara visa vilken typ av potential som slösas bort här.

Åtminstone minskar inte prestandan i batteridrift, inte ens i det tysta läget.

Eftersom Acer har bestämt sig för den lägsta TGP på 35 watt, kan Dell Inspiron 14 Plusmed samma grafikkort men TGP på 50 watt överträffar Acer Swift X 14 med 18 % i 3D Mark-benchmarks. Asus Vivobook Pro 14får också driva sin RTX 3050 med upp till 50 watt. Om du väljer RTX 3050 Tivid köpet bör Swift X kunna komma ikapp konkurrenterna, eftersom Schenkers nyaVision 14leder vår prestandabedömning med denna GPU vid samma TGP på 35 watt.

Åtminstone är den större Swift X 16med Intel Arc A370Moch föregångaren med GTX 1650kan överträffas med 30 %. Men alternativt fanns den senare också tillgänglig med ett RTX 3050.

Vid batteridrift rekommenderar vi att man avaktiverar Nvidias GPU för spel av andra grafikkrävande uppgifter. Detta eftersom Intels integrerade Iris Xe7-grafikenhet Iris Xe7 i det fallet körs ungefär 3x så snabbt, eftersom RTX 3050 förses med endast 5 watt effekt.

Oavsett vilket strömläge du väljer kommer du alltid att höra ett konstant fläktljud. Inte ens i tyst läge är det verkligen tyst, inte ens vid tomgångsdrift. Men åtminstone kommer ljudet då nästan att smälta in i de omgivande ljuden.

Så snart du öppnar en webbplats blir fläkten redan högre. Detta håller sig dock fortfarande inom acceptabla gränser i Silent Mode, och det finns varken några irriterande högfrekventa eller elektroniska ljud i vår testenhet.

Även om nästan 50 dB(A) uppnås i stresstestet, på grund av den låga frekvensen av fläktljudet, kände vi inte att detta var särskilt irriterande. Fläkten förblir också betydligt tystare i Silent Mode här, utan att det innebär någon prestandaförlust.

Stresstest

Stresstestet visar återigen att gränsen på 25 watt för processorn valdes mycket konservativt, eftersom vi inte uppmäter några höga temperaturer (76 °C, 169 °F), inte ens under kombinerad belastning med Prime95+FurMark. Under denna tid lyckas processorn fortfarande behålla den grundläggande klockfrekvensen på 1,7 GHz.

I det timslånga stresstestet med The Witcher 3 når dGPU:n fortfarande en klockfrekvens på 1 280 MHz, vilket är cirka 20 % högre än den maximala boostningen av en RTX 3050med en TGP på 35 watt. I FurMark-stresstestet har den fortfarande en boost som ligger cirka 10 % under den maximala.

De två 2-watt-högtalarna, som är riktade nedåt, har förbättrats. Även om de fortfarande inte levererar någon bas, blir de åtminstone ganska höga med 86 dB(A) och kan fylla ett större rum. Mellan- och högljudda toner återges också på ett linjärt och balanserat sätt.

Under tomgångsdrift samt med enkla program som Office och webbsurfning överensstämmer strömförbrukningen hos Acer Swift X 14 mer eller mindre med klassens genomsnitt. Dell Inspiron 14 Plusförbrukar betydligt mer ström, medan föregångaren till Swift X med en AMD-processorär märkbart effektivare.

Under belastning förbrukade systemet högst 96 watt, men detta var antingen fallet under det orealistiska stresstestet eller bara under några sekunder när man spelade. Därefter planar förbrukningen oftast ut på cirka 70 watt, så den medföljande 100-watts laddaren är tillräcklig.

Omdöme: Acer Swift X 14 har inte några verkliga fördelar jämfört med konkurrenterna

Teoretiskt sett kanRTX 3050kan göra Acer Swift X 14 till en kraftfull bärbar dator för spel i Full HD för resan. Men i praktiken kraschar grafikprestandan tyvärr helt och hållet, bort från uttaget. Vi gissar dock att en framtida BIOS-uppdatering kan råda bot på detta. Bortsett från detta ligger den lätta och kompakta bärbara 14-tumsdatorn långt före Intel Arc A370M i sitt stora, 16-tums syskon, den Swift X 16.

Föregångaren fanns redan tillgänglig med en grafikprocessor upp till en RTX 3050 Tioch en AMD Ryzen 7 5800U, som erbjuder högre prestanda vid samma TDP än en Intel Alder Lake-processor.

Dessutom är fläkten nästan alltid igång, även om det tysta läget erbjuder viss hjälp här utan att drabbas av någon prestandaförlust. Detta är svårt att förstå, även med tanke på den låga CPU-effektgränsen på 25 watt, när konkurrerande enheter som Dell Inspiron 14 Plusoch Honor MagicBook 14förser sin CPU med 40 watt konstant, samtidigt som de är ännu svalare och tystare. Å andra sidan väger de 200 till 300 gram (~7 - 10,6 oz) mer. Med en AMD-version hade många av dessa problem förmodligen kunnat undvikas.

Samtidigt leder Acers prestandaläge oväntat nog inte till någon prestandaförbättring, och inte ens Windows eget "Bästa prestanda" förändrar något.

Den som kan leva utan en 16:10-skärm och Thunderbolt borde istället välja den tystare föregångaren, även om årets modell också kom med några mindre förbättringar av tangentbordet, webbkameran, högtalarna och anslutningsutrustningen.

För dem för vilka det räcker med en Vega iGPU kan Acer Swift 3 AMD (2021), som delar samma konstruktion, kan redan hittas från 600 euro (~598 dollar).

Eller så kan du göra ett val bland konkurrenterna: Den bästa skärmen (3K OLED + 90 Hz, men reflekterande) hittar du i Asus Vivobook Pro 14, som också imponerar i övrigt. Dell Inspiron 14 Plus erbjuder den snabbaste CPU/GPU-kombinationen i en 14-tums bärbar multimediebärbar dator i mellanklassen, men du får leva med en sämre batteritid på ~7 istället för 11 timmar i Swift X 14. Och slutligen finnsAsus Zephyrus G14 Ryzen 9 GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q Laptop Review: Kicking Core i9 to the Curb Honor 's MagicBook 14 med en 3:2-skärm och RTX 2050, som inte uppvisar några större brister och finns till ett liknande pris på 1 300 euro (~1295 dollar).

För samma pris är Asus Zephyrus G14 med en 120 Hz WQHD-skärm (16:9), Ryzen 9 5900HS, RTX 3050 med en TGP på 60 watt och utökningsbart RAM också intressant, även om den är tjockare och tyngre.

Pris och tillgänglighet

Vid tidpunkten för detta test finns Acer Swift X SFX14-51G (i7-1260P, 512 GB/16 GB, RTX 3050) på Acers webbutik för 1200 kr men är för närvarande slut i lager. Amazon erbjuder samma modell för 1230 dollar.
