IdeaPad Pro 5 16 G9 gör allt detta när den konfigureras med sitt diskreta GPU-alternativ. Nackdelen är dock ett mer högljutt och varmare system än många andra ultratunna multimediaalternativ.

Efter att nyligen ha testat den billigare IdeaPad Pro 5 16IMH iGPU- och IPS-konfigurationen, är vi nu redo att kolla in den dyrare dGPU- och OLED-konfigurationen. Vår specifika testenhet är utrustad med toppalternativ, inklusive Meteor Lake Core Ultra 9 185H för $1500 i detaljhandeln. Det råkar också vara en av de få ultratunna bärbara multimediadatorerna med en 90 W GeForce RTX 4050, eftersom de flesta andra i kategorin vanligtvis riktar in sig på lägre TGP-tak.

IdeaPad Pro 5 16 G9 skiljer sig från flaggskeppet Yoga Pro 9i 16 G9. Den senare erbjuder till exempel mini-LED och RTX 4070-alternativ som inte finns tillgängliga på IdeaPad.

Fallet

Chassit har en dedikerad AC-adapterport längs den vänstra kanten som också fungerar som ett enkelt sätt att visuellt skilja mellan iGPU- och dGPU-konfigurationerna. Anslutningsmöjligheter

Vår dGPU-konfiguration stöder både universell USB-C-laddning och laddning med egen nätadapter, till skillnad från iGPU-konfigurationen som bara stöder det förstnämnda. AC-adaptern är nödvändig för att driva Core Ultra H-processorn och den diskreta 90 W Nvidia-grafiken utan att behöva använda ett lägre 50 W TGP-tak, vilket är det tillvägagångssätt som Samsung använder med sin Galaxy Book4 Ultra.

Portalternativen är i övrigt identiska med Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 samtidigt som de erbjuder fler än Samsungs.

Underhåll

Bottenpanelen sitter fast med nio Torx-skruvar för relativt enkel service. Kylningslösningen är oförändrad jämfört med iGPU-versionen trots den mer krävande hårdvaran, vilket innebär att vi kan förvänta oss både högre ljudnivå och högre temperaturer i genomsnitt.

Hållbarhet

Bottenlocket består av 50 procent återvunnet aluminium medan plasten i förpackningen till 90 procent kommer från havsbaserade källor. Vi uppskattar också att officiella reparationsguider för modellen finns tillgängliga direkt från Lenovo som gratis nedladdningar.

Det finns inga extra tillbehör i förpackningen förutom nätadapter och papper. Den vanliga ettåriga begränsade garantin gäller om den köps i USA.

Två displayalternativ finns tillgängliga enligt följande:

  • 2560 x 1600, IPS, 120 Hz, beröringsfri
  • 2048 x 1280, OLED, 120 Hz, pekskärm

Till skillnad från de flesta andra bärbara datorer är OLED-alternativet här inte nödvändigtvis bättre än IPS-alternativet eftersom det byter bort en högre inbyggd upplösning mot djupare färger och bättre HDR-stöd. Om din arbetsbelastning mest består av kalkylblad eller multitasking i fönster, kan IPS-panelen med högre upplösning vara mer produktiv. För uppgifter som videouppspelning eller videoredigering kan de djupare färgerna och den mörkare kontrasten hos OLED förbättra upplevelsen.

Upplösningen på 1280p är ändå lägre än på andra 16-tums bärbara datorer som t.ex Asus Zenbook S 16envy x360 2-in-1 16 eller Galaxy Book4 Ultra som alla levereras med 1800p OLED-paneler. Detta är sannolikt avsiktligt som ett sätt att uppmuntra kunder att överväga den högre delen Yoga Pro 9 16 G9-serien istället, men det gör fortfarande IdeaPad Pro 5 16 G9 lite mindre attraktiv jämfört med dess omedelbara konkurrenter.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Processor

Tre Meteor Lake CPU-alternativ finns tillgängliga: Core Ultra 5 125H, Core Ultra 7 155Hoch Core Ultra 9 185H. Att hoppa från Core Ultra 5 till Core Ultra 7 ger en betydande 80-procentig prestandaökning medan att hoppa från Core Ultra 7 till Core Ultra 9 bara ger ytterligare 5 till 10 procent vilket är praktiskt taget omärkligt i de flesta användningsscenarier. Stresstest

CPU:n ökade till 3,2 GHz, 81 W och 94 C när Prime95-stress initierades. Efter ungefär en minut sjönk den till 2,8 GHz och 65 W för att bibehålla en något svalare kärntemperatur på 87 C. PCMark-resultaten är i linje med andra bärbara 16-tums multimedia-datorer med långsammare integrerad grafik. PCMark 10-riktmärket gör generellt ett dåligt jobb när det gäller att skilja mellan bärbara datorer med dGPU och iGPU, särskilt om MUX inte stöds.
