Samsung har utrustat sina Galaxy Book4-modeller med Intels nya Meteor Lake-processorer och 16-tums 2-i-1 Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 har Intel Core Ultra 5 i kombination med en högupplöst 120 Hz AMOLED-skärm.

Samsung har uppdaterat sin stora, 16-tums, 2-i-1 med den fjärde generationen av Intels nya Meteor Lake-processorer. Pro-varianten använder de nya Core Ultra-chipen och den vanliga Galaxy Book4 360 (15,6 tum) är utrustad med de svagare U-seriens chips.

Vår granskningsenhet är den billigare versionen av Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 med Core Ultra 5 125H, högupplöst OLED-skärm, 16 GB RAM och en 512 GB SSD till ett rekommenderat pris på 1 699 USD. Som tillval finns ännu dyrare modeller med Core Ultra 7 155H samt 1 TB SSD & 16 GB RAM för 1 899 USD eller med 32 GB RAM för 2 099 USD.

Fodral - Ett slimmat 2-i-1-fodral i aluminium

Utvändigt skiljer sig Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 inte från sin föregångare föregångare. Det grå aluminiumhöljet (Moonstone Gray) ser mycket premium ut och första gången du tar upp den kommer du att bli förvånad över hur tunn enheten känns. Överlag är designen mycket diskret och endast den tjocka nedre ramen är något irriterande. Metallytorna är inte särskilt benägna att få fingeravtryck och kan också enkelt rengöras. Trots den smala basenheten är stabiliteten mycket bra och tangentbordsområdet ger bara något när det trycks. Dessutom finns det inga knarrande ljud att tala om.

På samma sätt är locket mycket stabilt och, eftersom det är en 2-i-1, kan skärmen öppnas helt. Problemet här är dock gångjärnen, som inte är tillräckligt täta. Även små vibrationer leder till en märkbar skärmvibb och detta kan snabbt bli irriterande (t.ex. på ett tåg). Den medföljande S Pen hålls antingen magnetiskt på locket eller på framsidan av basenheten.

Med en höjd på bara 13 mm är granskningsenheten den tunnaste enheten bland våra jämförelsemaskiner - och med ett visst avstånd. Men när det gäller fotavtrycket är den breda skärmramen märkbar och ganska djup. Dessutom är den med en vikt på under 1,7 kg mycket lätt med bara LG Gram väger mindre. Nätadaptern på 65 watt väger 163 gram.

Tillsammans med vårt referenskort, (Angelbird AV Pro V60), uppnådde microSD-kortläsaren på höger sida genomsnittliga överföringshastigheter på ~77-87 MB/s. Tyvärr är själva läsaren (fjädermekanismen) problematisk eftersom fästpunkten sitter mycket djupt inne i höljet, vilket gör det svårt att skjuta in kortet eller ta bort det utan att behöva använda ett verktyg/hjälpmedel.

Webbkamera

Det finns inga förändringar när det gäller 1080p-webbkameran och kvaliteten fortsätter att vara genomsnittlig. Det finns varken en mekanisk slutare eller en IR-modul för ansiktsigenkänning. Underhåll

På undersidan finns fyra dolda skruvar under gummifötterna. Det nedre höljet sitter mycket stadigt även utan skruvarna på grund av fästklämmorna i mitten. Till skillnad från den vanliga Galaxy Book4 Pro finns det bara en M.2-plats. Om så önskas kan det skruvade batteriet bytas ut men alla andra komponenter är lödda.

Inmatningsenheter - Stor pekplatta, genomsnittligt tangentbord

Samsung har utrustat Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 med ett tangentbord och en numerisk padda, som vi redan har sett i den betydligt större Galaxy Book4 Ultra. Skrivupplevelsen blir något lidande på grund av den korta tangentvägen samt märkbara ljud vid tangentnedslag. Med den smalare basenheten är den korta resan lättare att svälja än med Ultra, men i en direkt jämförelse med den vanliga Galaxy Book4 Pro verkar strejkerna inte lika exakta. I denna disciplin släpar Samsung-bärbara datorn också efter tävlingen och i synnerhet HP Spectre x360 16. Den har övertaget här men erbjuder inte en numerisk padda. Den som skriver mycket skulle bäst rekommenderas att prova tangentbordet i förväg. Strömknappen längst upp till höger fungerar samtidigt som en fingeravtrycksläsare. Den vita bakgrundsbelysningen har tre intensitetsnivåer 3 och kan aktiveras automatiskt.

Även om svepgester implementeras mycket bra på den enorma klickplattan (15,1 x 10,8 cm), befinner den sig något till vänster om mitten. Den nedre delen av plattan kan klickas men detta åtföljs av ganska höga och billigt klingande klickljud.

S Pen, en liten, induktivt laddad stylus, ingår också och kan fästas magnetiskt på vissa delar av höljet. Den fungerar felfritt och erbjuder 4 096 tryckkänslighetsnivåer.

Samsung erbjuder endast sin Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 med en 16-tums OLED-pekskärm (2.880 x 1.800 pixlar, 16:10). Med livfulla färger och djup svärta är den subjektiva bildkvaliteten underbar. Svarstiderna är mycket snabba och HDR-innehåll stöds. Tack vare frekvensen på 120 Hz är rörelserna också mycket mjuka. Som med alla Windows-enheter måste HDR-läget aktiveras manuellt, men det innebär att färghantering inte längre är tillgänglig. Både ljusstyrkan och färgtemperaturen kan justeras via Sensor. OLED-panelen använder 240 Hz PWM vid varje ljusstyrka.

I SDR-läget ligger den maximala ljusstyrkan på i genomsnitt 392 cd/m² och svartvärdet är 0 cd/m². Detta leder till ett mycket högt kontrastförhållande. Vi uppmätte en maximal HDR-ljusstyrka på 550 cd/m² i bildsektioner eller 540 cd/m² när en helt vit bild visas. HDR-kapaciteten är betydligt mer begränsad jämfört med mini LED-paneler.

I Samsungs inställningsapp finns olika färgprofiler och som standard är den aktiva "Vivid". Som vanligt är färgerna något övermättade vilket gör att bilderna ser lite mer levande ut. Det finns dock också ett P3-läge som oftast erbjuder korrekta färger direkt och det är detta läge vi använde för våra mätningar. Med hjälp av vår egen kalibrering kunde vi inte förbättra denna prestanda. Panelen täcker både sRGB- och P3-färgrymderna helt och hållet och alla som gillar att redigera bilder kommer också att njuta av det lika exakta sRGB-läget.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

I grund och botten är OLED-pekskärmen blank, men tack vare användningen av Corning Gorilla Glass DX är panelen mindre reflekterande jämfört med andra blanka skärmar. På detta område är Samsung i nivå med Apple's MacBooks. I princip kan du också använda enheten utomhus på soliga dagar så länge du undviker reflektioner från direkta ljuskällor. Betraktningsvinkelstabiliteten är mycket bra, men vid större avvikelser finns det typiska OLED-blåskimret.

Prestanda - Raptor Lake har ersatts av Meteor Lake

Samsung erbjuder Galaxy Book4 Pro antingen med den nya Core Ultra 5 125H (i kombination med 16 GB RAM-minne) eller Core Ultra 7 155H som också är tillgänglig med 32 GB RAM. Tillverkaren har valt att inte använda GPU och förlitar sig istället på den nya integrerade Intel Arc-grafikkortet.

 
 

Testförhållanden

I den förinstallerade Samsung-inställningsappen finns det olika energiprofiler till ditt förfogande. För följande riktmärken och mätningar använde vi profilen Optimerad som är aktiv som standard.

Processor - Core Ultra 5 125H

Core Ultra 5 Core Ultra 5 125H från Intels nuvarande Meteor Lake-generation har 4 snabba prestandakärnor och 10 effektivitetskärnor (totalt 14 kärnor/18 trådar) och uppnår en maximal hastighet på upp till 4,5 GHz. Förutom den låga klockhastigheten saknar Core Ultra 5 två prestandakärnor jämfört med Core Ultra 7 155H. När det gäller Galaxy Book4 Pro 360 kan processorn kortvarigt förbruka upp till 64 watt, men efter några minuter sjunker förbrukningen snabbt till cirka 30 watt.

I grund och botten är prestandan under en kort belastningsperiod anständig men sjunker sedan (~35 %) och under långvarig belastning är den nya modellen till och med marginellt långsammare än den gamla Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 med Core i5-1340P (34 watt vid bibehållen belastning). Den övergripande prestandan är dock fullt tillräcklig för vardagliga uppgifter. I batteriläge minskar inte CPU-prestandan. Ytterligare riktmärken finns tillgängliga i vårt teknikavsnitt.

I testenheten har Samsung installerat 512 GB-varianten av PM9B1 och även om vi har att göra med en PCIe 4.0 SSD ligger överföringshastigheterna på maximalt ~3,5 GB/s, vilket är mer likt PCIe 3.0. I vardagliga situationer spelar det ingen roll, men med tanke på det höga priset är vi lite förvånade. Åtminstone förblir prestandan också stabil under längre perioder av belastning.
