Lenovo Legion 7 16 G9 laptop recension - En spelmaskin med en 3,2K-skärm, HX CPU och en överklockad RTX 4070 laptop

Måste det alltid vara ett proffs? Med Legion 7 16 G9 erbjuder Lenovo en relativt tunn och iögonfallande bärbar speldator som också är intressant för andra målgrupper som multimediaanvändare eller innehållsskapare. Intels Core i9-14900HX och Nvidias GeForce RTX 4070 laptop säkerställer tillräcklig prestanda för 3,2K IPS-skärmen och dess P3-täckning.

Legion 7 16 är den Legion Pro 7 16:s billigare och smalare bror som vi bara nyligen granskade. Det finns skillnader, särskilt när det gäller grafikkorten, där den normala Legion 7:s maximalt tillgängliga GPU är RTX 4070 laptop. När det gäller processorn används dock samma Intel HX-chips och förutom WQHD-panelerna finns det en valfri högupplöst 165 Hz 3,2K IPS-panel.

Vår granskningsenhet är Campus-varianten för 2 249 USD som levereras med en Core i9-14900HX, GeForce RTX 4070 laptop, 32 GB RAM, en 1 TB SSD samt en 3,2K-panel. För närvarande finns det fortfarande inga motsvarande varianter för vanliga kunder men priset borde vara cirka 250-300 USD högre.

Legion 7 16 är en jämförelsevis tunn bärbar speldator som också är mycket diskret tack vare sitt svarta aluminiumhölje. Till skillnad från Legion Pro 7 finns det inga utskjutande kylelement på sidorna av enheten. Visuellt ser fodralet väldigt bra ut, men bara under en kort tid eftersom de släta ytorna magiskt lockar fingeravtryck. Av den anledningen bör du alltid ha en trasa till hands för att rengöra fodralet. Skärmens ramar är mycket tunna och det är bara kameran som förstör utseendet, även om det gör det lättare att öppna fodralet.

Både fodralets stabilitet och byggkvalitet är mycket bra och vi kunde inte provocera fram några som helst knarrande ljud. Dessutom är det praktiskt taget omöjligt att böja tangentbordet när man trycker på det. Det tunna skärmlocket är en aning mer flexibelt, men det är också ett område där vi inte kunde orsaka några bildförvrängningar. För vår smak skulle gångjärnen kunna vara lite fastare eftersom det finns en synlig gungrörelse när du justerar öppningsvinkeln (maximalt ~170 grader).

Legion 7 16 är en av de smalaste enheterna i vår jämförelsegrupp, men när det gäller vikt och övergripande fotavtryck finns det inga stora skillnader. Nätaggregatet på 230 watt väger 948 gram.

Funktioner - Thunderbolt men inget Ethernet

Portarna är fördelade både på sidorna och även på baksidan av den bärbara datorn. På det här området gör den normala Legion 7 något bättre än den dyrare Legion Pro 7 eftersom kylventilerna bara finns på baksidan. Alla viktiga standarder finns här förutom en Ethernet-port och detta är inte perfekt för spelare. Thunderbolt-porten är ansluten via iGPU och det betyder att när du ansluter en extern skärm behöver Nvidia GPU inte alltid vara aktiv. Alla andra videoutgångar körs direkt via dGPU.

Kommunikation

En Realtek Wi-Fi 6E-modul är installerad inuti Legion. Den fungerar bra och i kombination med vår Asus referensrouter klarade den både höga och stabila överföringshastigheter. Bluetooth 5.1 stöds men den bärbara datorn har ingen Ethernet-port.

Webbkamera

Underhåll

Sockelskyddet är fastsatt med vanliga skruvar och är mycket lätt att ta bort. Förutom de två RAM-modulerna finns det också två M.2 2280-kortplatser, även om åtkomsten till den andra platsen är något hindrad av Wi-Fi-kabeln. På samma sätt kan både Wi-Fi-modulen och batteriet bytas ut.

Inmatningsenheter - Numerisk padda och individuell tangentbelysning

Lenovo har försett Legion 7 16 med ett mycket bekvämt membrantangentbord som levereras komplett med en dedikerad numerisk padda och individuell tangentbelysning. Överlag ger den exakta och behagligt tysta tangenttryckningen ingen anledning till klagomål. Även längre texter kan skrivas utan ansträngning. Sifferblockets tangenter är lite smalare, men det är inget problem i verkliga situationer. Piltangenterna är behagligt stora och en fingeravtrycksläsare är integrerad i strömknappen.

Klickplattan är placerad något till vänster om mitten och är med sina 12 x 7,5 cm välproportionerad. Svepningar översätts mycket snyggt och det nedre området av plattan kan klickas - om än ganska högt. Av denna anledning bör du bara röra vid dynan lätt. Speed Mouse Mad M från Legion ingår också i leveransen.

Vår granskningsenhet Legion 7 16 är utrustad med en högupplöst IPS-skärm med bildförhållandet 16:10 (3 200 x 2 000 pixlar). Den subjektiva bildkvaliteten är bra och innehållet framstår som mycket skarpt tack vare skärmens höga upplösning. På samma sätt är färgerna också livfulla men nuvarande OLED-paneler erbjuder mer livfulla bilder. När det gäller ljusare innehåll ser ytorna något korniga ut, men Lenovo lyckas oftast undvika det problemet genom att använda Windows mörka läge som standard. Rörelser är mycket smidiga tack vare 165 Hz uppdateringsfrekvens och svarstiderna är snabba. PWM-flimmer används inte.

Den genomsnittliga ljusstyrkan ligger på cirka 400 cd/m², men med 0,43 cd/m² är svartvärdet ganska högt och förklarar varför det maximala kontrastförhållandet bara är strax under 1.000:1. Vid full ljusstyrka och med mörkt innehåll finns det dessutom synligt ljusblödning.

Vi analyserade panelen med hjälp av den professionella CalMAN-programvaran (X-Rite i1 Pro 2). Lenovo erbjuder olika profiler och standardprofilen ger redan från början korrekta bilder. Som tillval finns också en native-profil med högre maximal ljusstyrka (~455 cd/m²) men också en färgtemperatur som är alldeles för varm och även har högre färgavvikelser. Med vår kalibrering kunde vi förbättra bilderna ytterligare och en gratis nedladdning av den anpassade profilen finns tillgänglig ovan. På samma sätt erbjuder Lenovo ett mycket exakt sRGB-läge som är särskilt viktigt för redigering av bilder. Färgrymden sRGB täcks helt; P3 till 95 %.

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 17903 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Testförhållanden

Som vanligt erbjuder Lenovo olika energiprofiler och vi har sammanställt en sammanfattad lista över prestandadata i följande tabell. Den aktuella profilen visas också via strömknappens LED-lampa. Vi utförde riktmärkena och mätningarna i prestandaläge där GPU automatiskt är något överklockad (+100 MHz kärna, +200 MHz VRAM). Prestandaläget är inte tillgängligt i batteriläge.

Obs: Vi försökte utan framgång uppdatera Nvidia-drivrutinerna. Den officiella drivrutinen avslutade installationen med ett kompatibilitetsproblem. Hittills har Lenovo själv bara gjort den förinstallerade 537.70-drivrutinen tillgänglig och det är den vi oundvikligen använde.

Processor - Core i9-14900HX

Lenovo har också utrustat den normala Legion 7 16 med Core i9-14900HX, den snabbaste Raptor Lake-mobilprocessorn som också finns i den dyrare Legion Pro 7. Jämfört med de båda tjockare Legion Pro 7/5 16-modellerna har det tunnare höljet en inverkan när det gäller effektgränserna, som sjunker till 90 watt efter att kortvarigt ha nått 154 watt. På det hela taget var prestandan underbar både i flerkärniga och enkelkärniga tester. I batteriläge får processorn förbruka maximalt 60 watt, vilket är anledningen till att flerkärnighetsprestandan är cirka 40 % lägre här. Ytterligare CPU-riktmärken kan hittas i vår teknikavdelning.

Vår granskningsenhet levereras med RTX 4070 bärbar dator även om vi faktiskt har att göra med 115-watt-versionen. Utöver detta är GPU:n något överklockad i prestandaläget. I de syntetiska riktmärkena, utrustade med sin 140-wattsvariant, ligger Legion 7 16 lite bakom konkurrenterna. Men som vi kommer att se är detta inte relevant för spelbenchmarks eftersom RTX 4070-laptopen ändå inte kan förbruka hela 140 watt. Legion stöder grafikomkopplaren Advanced Optimus.

Under långvarig belastning förblir GPU:n helt stabil och i batteriläge är strömförbrukningen begränsad till 50 watt. Det är därför prestandan här är cirka 35 % lägre. Ytterligare GPU-riktmärken finns listade här.

Spelprestandan hos Legion 7 16 är mycket bra och alla moderna titlar kan spelas smidigt med QHD-upplösning och maximala detaljer. Även i native-upplösning bör prestandan vara tillräcklig och, om så önskas, kan DLSS-uppskalning aktiveras. I jämförelsen av speltester fick testenheten en aning bättre resultat än i de syntetiska testerna och prestandan förblev helt stabil även under längre spelsessioner. När det gäller enkla uppgifter förblir kylningen på Legion 7 16 ofta avaktiverad, även i prestandaläget och i vardagliga situationer kan du tryggt vända dig till tyst läge för att minimera fläktljudet. Med maximalt 38,4 dB(A) i tyst läge är det också fortfarande möjligt att spela utan hörlurar, men i båda de andra lägena är 50 och 54 dB(A) för högt. Trots detta är både Legion Pro 5 och Legion Pro 7 till och med lite högre. Efter perioder av belastning minskar fläktarna också snabbt sin hastighet. Inga andra elektroniska ljud var närvarande i granskningsenheten.

Vid tomgångskörning och under låg belastning förblir aluminiumhöljet behagligt svalt och även när du spelar gör det bättre än förväntat. På vissa ställen uppmätte vi värden från 42 till 43 °C och även om detta är något som du också märker när du använder tangentbordet, resulterar det inte i en begränsad användarupplevelse och återigen presterar Legion 7 bättre än båda konkurrerande pro-modeller trots sin smalare basenhet. I stresstestet med kombinerad CPU/GPU-belastning körs GPU:n på 90 watt och CPU:n på cirka 54 watt.

Strömförbrukning

I förbrukningsmätningarna överraskade granskningsenheten oss inte och i viloläge registrerade vi maximalt nästan 22 watt. I prestandaläge är 230-watts PSU kortfattat den begränsande faktorn men den stabiliserades snabbt och förbrukningen bosatte sig snabbt på 200 watt. Sammantaget är 230-watts PSU väl dimensionerad. Ändå kunde Lenovo förbättra standby-förbrukningen på över 1,1 watt.

Lenovo har installerat ett 99,9 Wh-batteri i sin Legion 7 16 och överlag kan drifttiderna betraktas som ganska genomsnittliga. Vid 150 cd/m² (vilket motsvarar 63 % av testenhetens maximala ljusstyrka) och 60 Hz kördes vårt Wi-Fi-test i mer än 7 timmar (~6,5 timmar vid 165 Hz) och cirka 5,5 timmar vid full ljusstyrka och 60 Hz (~5 timmar vid 165 Hz). I videotestet med 150 cd/m² registrerade vi lite mer än 10 timmar, och under belastning släcks lamporna i värsta fall efter 50 minuter.

Legion erbjuder två laddningslägen där en fullständig laddningscykel tar 97 minuter (80 % efter ~64 minuter) med normalt läge. Med expressläget tar det 79 minuter (80 % efter bara 34 minuter).

Med den nya Legion 7i 16 G9 erbjuder Lenovo en relativt tunn gaming-laptop som inte avslöjade några uppenbara svagheter under testerna. Jämfört med den dyrare Legion Pro 7måste du acceptera begränsningar när det gäller långa perioder av CPU-prestanda såväl som den utrustade GPU: n ( Legion 7 toppar ut på RTX 4070-bärbar dator) men jämfört med Pro förblir aluminiumhöljet svalare och totalt sett gör kylningen ett mycket bra jobb. Fläktarna är fortfarande problematiska eftersom du kommer att behöva ett headset när du spelar och använder något av de snabba energilägena. Men det gäller även för konkurrenterna och med tyst läge är det möjligt att ha acceptabla ljudnivåer på bekostnad av viss prestanda.

Dessutom är det tunnare höljet mycket mindre iögonfallande än Legion Pro. Den som är på jakt efter omfattande belysningsalternativ kommer att bli besviken, men å andra sidan gör detta också Legion 7 16 lämplig för andra målgrupper. Det enda som är irriterande är de fingeravtryckskänsliga ytorna. Bortsett från den saknade Ethernet-porten finns alla viktiga kontakter ombord och det finns inga problem när det gäller inmatningsenheterna.

Den nya Lenovo Legion 7i 16 G9 är en iögonfallande bärbar dator med påsar med prestanda och en bra funktionsuppsättning. Den högupplösta IPS-skärmen är också lämplig för visning och redigering av bilder och ingen PWM är implementerad.

Överlag gör den valfria IPS-skärmen och dess upplösning på 3 200 x 2 000 pixlar ett bra jobb, även om det subjektiva bildintrycket och svarstiderna inte kan hålla jämna steg med OLED-paneler. Fördelen är att PWM saknas och att irriterande reflexer inte heller förekommer. På samma sätt är batteritiden bara genomsnittlig med plattformen och dess HX-processor som helt enkelt kräver för mycket ström.

Den nya Legion 7 16 presterar också bra när den ställs mot sina kollegor. I synnerhet är Legion Pro 7 lämplig om du vill ha en GPU snabbare än RTX 4070 bärbar dator. Med jämförbar kraft är Legion Pro 5 däremot betydligt mer skrymmande och har dessutom en sämre skärm. Den HP Omen Transcend kommer med en 240 Hz OLED men erbjuder också något lägre prestanda och ett högre pris.
