XMG Apex 17 (Clevo NH77ERQ) laptop recension: För bullerresistenta gamers

AMD möter Nvidia. XMG Apex 17 är en bärbar spellaptop på 17 tum från Schenker Technologies som bygger på en stark Ryzen CPU och en kraftfull GeForce GPU. Den största höjdpunkten är det löstagbara batteriet, den största nackdelen är den höga ljudnivån.

Som Schenker Technologies vet kan enheten konfigureras i stor utsträckning i den interna webbshopen bestware.com. Processorn är antingen en Ryzen 7 5800H eller en Ryzen 9 5900HXär grafikkortet en GeForce RTX 3060 med 6 GB VRAM eller ett GeForce RTX 3070 med 8 GB VRAM. I båda fallen är det en matt 144 Hz IPS-skärm som tar hand om bildåtergivningen. DDR4-arbetsminnet sträcker sig från 8 till maximalt 64 GB (2x SO-DIMM). I övrigt rymmer 17-tumshöljet upp till två M.2 SSD-diskar (PCIe 3.0 x4). Köparna kan också påverka WLAN-modulen, tangentbordets språk och operativsystemet.

Priset för Apex 17 börjar på 1 479 euro (~1 692 dollar). Vår testkonfiguration med Ryzen 7 5800H, GeForce RTX 3070, 32 GB dubbelkanals RAM-minne och 1 TB SSD skulle för närvarande kosta över 2 000 euro (~2 289 dollar).

Skärmen som används skiljer sig från A7 X1 trots identiska grundspecifikationer (Full HD, 144 Hz, IPS). I stället för en AU Optronics-panel använder Schenkers bärbara dator en panel från LG Philips, som tyvärr inte riktigt matchar Gigabytes motsvarighet. Förutom ljusstyrkan är även kontrasten svagare. Ett snitt på 285 cd/m² och 823:1 är ganska lågt i prisklassen runt 2 000 euro (~2 289 dollar). QHD-panelen i XMG Neo 17 med 381 cd/m² och 1108:1 visar hur det kan bli bättre.

Å andra sidan finns det pluspoäng för den korta svarstiden och det hyfsade färgutrymmet. 96 % sRGB är helt tillräckligt för en bärbar dator för spel. Färgåtergivningen kan heller knappast kritiseras, även om förbättringar fortfarande kan uppnås via kalibrering (vår ICC-fil är länkad nedan). Betraktningsvinkelstabiliteten ligger på den typiska IPS-nivån, så den är bra

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 52 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 21090 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Provningsvillkor

Olika systeminställningar kan göras i det förinstallerade kontrollcentret, som kommer från barebone-tillverkaren Clevo. Dessa inkluderar bl.a. fläktkontrollen och prestandaprofilen. För att få ut maximal effekt ur Apex 17 använde vi prestandaläget för våra tester (endast batterimätningarna utfördes i underhållningsläget). Vi lämnade inställningen för fläkthastigheten på standardalternativet Automatic.

Obs: För att förhindra att Windows 11, som var installerat på testenheten, skulle påverka benchmarkresultaten negativt, väntade vi på AMD:s senaste moderkortsdrivrutin och en viss Microsoft-uppdatering (nyckelord L3-cache-bugg).

Effekt

Det spelar ingen roll vilken CPU eller GPU du väljer för konfigurationen: Apex 17 tenderar att ligga i det övre segmentet. För att vara tillräckligt förberedd för framtiden rekommenderar vi 16 GB RAM och minst 500 GB SSD. Grundkonfigurationen är extremt mager i detta avseende (8 GB & 250 GB).

Processor

Ryzen 7 5800H som installerades i recensionsexemplaret är en extremt snabb processor med åtta kärnor som kan bearbeta upp till 16 trådar parallellt via SMT. Det fanns inga obehagliga överraskningar i vår benchmarkbana. Cinebench-resultaten ligger alla på en hög nivå och kan hävda sig mot konkurrenterna. Prestandan förblev också ganska stabil i Loop-testet (jämför graf)
