XMG Apex 15 Max (Clevo NH57VR) recension: Bärbar dator för spel med en stationär CPU

Schenker XMG Apex 15 Max marknadsförs i första hand som en bärbar dator för spel, men den är också avsedd för arbetsstationer och DTR-området. I Clevo Barebone (NH57VR) som används här finns en utbytbar Ryzen 9-5900Xdesktop CPU och en GeForce RTX 3070 bärbar datorgPU.

Enligt Schenker är BIOS för Apex 15 Max en intern utveckling. På detta sätt vill företaget garantera en stabil drift av de erbjudna Ryzen 9 CPU:erna hela tiden. Vi kan också bekräfta detta åtminstone för vår testenhet.
Processor
Den utbytbara Ryzen 9 5900Xtolvkärnig processor (Vermeer) körs med en grundläggande klockfrekvens på 3,7 GHz. Via Turbo kan detta ökas upp till 4,5 GHz (tolv kärnor) och 4,8 GHz (en enda kärna). Simultan multitrådning (med två trådar per kärna) stöds. Klockhastigheterna under Cinebench R15-benchmarks varierar avsevärt beroende på vald strömprofil. I alla fall kan CPU:n köra konstant med en stabil klockfrekvens, vilket vårt CB15-slingtest visar.

Vid drift med flera trådar ligger 5900X CPU betydligt under sin fulla potential: den når bara kortvarigt Turbo-hastigheten om prestandaprofilen är aktiverad. Vid drift med en enda tråd blir avståndet mellan stationär och bärbar dator mindre (se jämförelsediagram). Kylningsmöjligheterna i en bärbar dator kan helt enkelt vara otillräckliga i allmänhet för att köra den stationära CPU:n på full effekt.
Det är märkligt att med samma prestandainställningar (Performance-läge, maxfläkt) presterar Apex mycket bättre i flertrådsdrift än den identiskt konstruerade Eurocom Nightsky ARX315, som också är utrustad med en Ryzen 9 5900X CPU. Kanske lockar det optimerade, interna Schenker BIOSet mer prestanda från CPU:n.
