Hölje - A5 levereras i ett plastchassi

A5:s väska är inte gjord av högkvalitativa material. Gigabyte väljer ett svart plastfodral med en design som kan beskrivas som sober och funktionell - den bärbara datorn drar inte till sig uppmärksamhet. Lockets baksida och basenhetens ovansida har matta, släta ytor, medan ytorna på det nedre locket och de smala lockkanterna är uppruggade. Den bärbara datorn levereras inte med någon underhållslucka. Batteriet kan tas bort från utsidan.

Chassit avslöjar inga tillverkningsfel. Spaltmåtten är korrekta och det finns inga materialutsprång. Även om basenheten kan vridas lite, håller sig hela situationen inom ramarna. Däremot saknar locket styvhet. Gångjärnen håller locket stadigt på plats och tillåter endast att det vobblar något. Den maximala öppningsvinkeln är cirka 120 grader. Det är möjligt att öppna locket med en hand

När det gäller vikt och storlek skiljer sig de bärbara datorerna i vårt jämförelsefält inte mycket åt. A5 är en av de lättare enheterna

A5 har tre USB-A-portar (1x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2) och en USB-C-port (USB 3.2 Gen 2). Den sistnämnda har stöd för DisplayPort via USB-C. Det innebär att det finns tre videoutgångar tillsammans med HDMI-porten och den dedikerade Mini DisplayPort. Gigabyte har inte försett den bärbara speldatorn med en minneskortläsare.

Portarna är fördelade längs tre av den bärbara datorns sidor. Alla tre videoutgångarna samt Ethernet-porten finns på baksidan av enheten. Följaktligen löper motsvarande kablar mot baksidan utan att vara i vägen

Underhåll

När alla skruvar på enhetens undersida (det finns även skruvar i batterifacket) har lossats kan bottenskyddet avlägsnas med hjälp av en platt spatel eller ett verktyg för fogbearbetning - bottenskyddet sitter ganska hårt på vissa ställen. Efter det kan du komma åt SSD-enheten, den andra M.2-platsen, SATA-porten, WLAN-modulen, RAM-minnet, BIOS-batteriet och fläktarna

Tangentbord

A5 har ett bakgrundsbelyst chiclet-tangentbord med nummerplatta. De platta, släta tangenterna har en medelhög slaglängd och en tydlig tryckpunkt. Det motstånd som tangenterna ger skulle dock kunna vara skarpare. Tangentbordet viker sig något under skrivandet. Det visade sig dock inte vara överdrivet irriterande. På det hela taget erbjuder Gigabyte här ett tangentbord som lämpar sig för daglig användning

Pekplatta

En multitouch-kompatibel pekplatta (ca 11 x 6,3 cm) fungerar som musersättning. Den släta ytan gör det lätt för fingrarna att glida på den. Den reagerar också på inmatningar i hörnen. De två musknapparna har en kort räckvidd, men en mycket tydlig tryckpunkt

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Provningsvillkor

I det förinstallerade kontrollcentret kan du bland annat välja en prestandaprofil (se tabell). Benchmarks utfördes med profilen "Performance Mode" med automatisk fläktstyrning. Vissa riktmärken kördes dessutom med de övriga tre profilerna. Resultaten finns i jämförelsetabellerna. Profilen "Entertainment Mode" användes för batteritesterna

Processor

CPU-delen avRyzen 9 5900HX APU (Cezanne) består av en octa-core-processor som körs med en basklockfrekvens på 3,3 GHz. En ökning upp till 4,65 GHz är möjlig via Turbo. Simultan multitrådning (två trådar per kärna) stöds.

Cinebench R15-jämförelsetestet med flera trådar bearbetas vid 4,2 GHz under en kort tid, varefter klockfrekvensen sjunker till mellan 4 och 4,1 GHz. Testet med en enda tråd körs vid 3,6 till 4,65 GHz. På batteridrift körs processorn på 2,4 till 2,5 GHz (multitråd) respektive 2,2 till 3,5 GHz (enkeltråd).

Vi kontrollerar om CPU Turbo används konsekvent när den är inkopplad genom att köra Cinebench R15-jämförelsetestet för flera trådar i en kontinuerlig slinga i minst 30 minuter. Turbo används i stor utsträckning.
