Bortsett från den uppdaterade hårdvaran är nya MateBook D 53010BAJ fortfarande samma mittenskiktslaptop på 15.6 tum med aluminiumhölje som Huawei introducerade förra året. För det angivna priset är chassit väldigt välgjort, robust och trevligt att titta på. Systemprestandan är tillfredställande, även om den inte är särskilt långt framför föregångaren. Vi ger Huawei en applåd för att de inte försökt trycka in en sexkärnig Coffee Lake-H CPU i det tunna chassit, då det garanterat hade överväldigat kylsystemet helt och hållet och dessutom reducerat batteritiden. Till och med den ULV CPU på 15 W som används har problem med strypning vid hög belastning. Huawei använder fortfarande aggressiv strypning på CPU och GPU för att hålla interna och yttre temperaturer i schack på bekostnad av minskad prestanda och ökad fläktaktivitet. Slutresultatet: MateBook D har bättre prestanda, men blir tyvärr lika varm som föregångaren och har dessutom blivit ganska mycket mer högljudd. Vi bör dock påpeka att den observerade strypningen troligen bara kommer påverka proffsanvändare och bör inte påverka vardagligt internetsurfande, ordbehandling eller liknande uppgifter.

Det finns ingen tvekan om att Huawei har behövt skära ner på en del saker för att hålla priset så lågt: portutbudet är vad vi skulle kalla i minsta laget och saknar SD-kortläsare, USB C-port och flera videoutgångar. Skärmen, även om den är skapligt ljusstark, brister när det kommer till färgomfång och färgprecision.

MateBook D är en gedigen multimedialaptop med imponerande specifikationer för sitt pris. Prestandan har förbättrats jämfört med föregångaren, men strypning vid belastning är tyvärr fortfarande ett problem.
