The only downside is the noise if the fans when they inevitably kick in and the too-hot-to-handle temperature, but as long as you have a pair of headphones and somewhere other than your lap to rest it, it's not too much of a problem. If size matters - even on the go - you can't go wrong with the Alienware m17 and it won't break the bank.

As a gamer, I’m excited to get my hands on the Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen Edition. The amount of power tucked under the hood is extremely impressive and should deliver the kind of AAA gaming experiences I seek. The 17.3-inch screen is another aspect that excites me since I want to see every juicy detail produced by the powerful AMD graphics cards. The only drawback I can foresee with this laptop is the price of higher-end models. $1,599 for the base model alone may be too much for the average gamer. I can only imagine how much beefier rigs will cost. With that said, those who can afford the more expensive models should get their money’s worth. The Alienware m17 R5 Ryzen Edition is clearly a gaming laptop made by gamers, for gamers. It may indeed land in our best gaming laptops of 2022.

If you're looking for a gaming laptop that can more than happily handle demanding creative software and AAA games alike, with distinctive styling and great build quality, but can't quite stretch to the flagship gaming/creative monsters, spending around £2,000/$2,000 on the best-specced Alienware m17 R5 might make a very good investment. Do keep in mind that it's heavy and bulky, so if you're trotting around a lot at work, it might not be for you, but that big, sharp, gorgeous screen more than makes up for it for me.

The collaboration has lived up to the hype and did just what they set out to do, create the most powerful 17-inch AMD gaming laptop in the Alienware m15 R5. Both the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX and Radeon RX 6850M XT GPU deliver big numbers on performance, enough to give their Intel and Nvidia-powered competitors a run for their money more often than not. And that’s with no small help from the AMD Advantage software suite designed to squeeze every bit of performance out of the system no matter the situation. The lovely 4K display, powerful speakers, ultra-low profile Cherry MX are the literal cherry on top. Oh and with that Legend 2.0 design, it’s just a stunner of a system. However, for $2,799, I definitely want a 1080p webcam and for the system to be a bit more dominant with that performance. I want to win all the time, not 80% of the exchange.

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. De här grafikkorten levererar bäst 3D-prestanda för bärbara datorer. De kan hantera alla nya spel i hög upplösning och ofta med avancerade inställningar. Däremot är strömförbrukningen hög, så batteritiden blir lidande (med undantag för bärbara datorer med växlingsbar grafik). Som regel hittar man bara de här GPU:erna i större laptops.

AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT:
Högklassigt mobilt grafikkort baserat på ett Navi 22-chip (ny RDNA2-arkitektur) och tillverkat i den moderna 7nm-processen. Erbjuder 2 560 kärnor (40 CUs) och använder 12 GB GDDR6-grafikminne. Spelklockan är specificerad till 2,463 GHz vid 135-165 Watt TDP.

En processor för stora och tunga bärbara datorer baserad på Coffee Lake-arkitekturen. Innehåller sex processorkärnor med en klockfrekvens på 2.2 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz med 4 kärnor, 3.9 GHz med 6 kärnor) som stödjer HyperThreading. Tillverkad i en förbättrad 14 nm process (14 nm++).
Intel Comet Lake:

En Comet Lake-arkitekturbaserad processor för stora och tunga bärbara datorer. Integrerar åtta processorkärnor med en klockfrekvens på 3,1-5 GHz med stöd för HyperThreading. Tillverkas i en förbättrad 14nm-process (14nm++). Vid tidpunkten för tillkännagivandet är i9-10980HK den snabbaste Comet Lake-H-processorn och den snabbaste processorn för bärbara datorer på marknaden. Tack vare den fria multiplikatorn kan CPU:n också lätt överklockas (men kanske inte har så mycket utrymme).
i7-10750H:
En högpresterande hexa-core-processor som är utformad för tjockare bärbara datorer med utrymme för bättre värme. Comet Lake-H-processorn tillverkas på den tredje generationens 14 nm Intel-process och har UHD Graphics 630 iGPU som är klockad på 350 MHz till 1 150 MHz. Processorkärnorna körs på 2,6 GHz (basklockfrekvens) Boosting upp till 5 GHz och den troliga allkärniga Boost-frekvensen är 4,3 GHz. Hyper-Threading-stödet är aktiverat, vilket gör att två trådar kan köras samtidigt på varje kärna.
i7-10870H:
Coffee Lake-baserad processor för stora och tunga bärbara datorer. Integrerar åtta processorkärnor med en klockfrekvens på 2,2-5 GHz (alla åtta kärnor upp till 4,2 GHz) med stöd för HyperThreading. Tillverkad på den tredje generationens 14 nm Intel-process.
