The biggest problem with entry-level gaming laptops is that they immediately compete with high-end gaming handhelds, like the Xbox Ally X, which will be more tempting for its versatility alone. Its 512 GB of storage will fill up fast, so you'll either have to be happy with regularly switching between installed games from your library, or rely on an external hard drive to transfer backups.

With the Alienware 15, I’m a bit more bearish than I usually am when giving a laptop a first look—and I tend to give an untested laptop the benefit of the doubt. But I have two reasons why. First, I have high expectations not only from an Alienware machine (the company has a hard-won reputation for premium quality, after all), but also from any laptop that costs much more than $1,000, especially a gaming model. I’m just as deeply sensitive to getting the most for your money as I am to the expected life of the product. And the RTX 4050 launched in laptops in early 2023. Oof! Second, I’ve written and edited enough gaming-laptop reviews over the years to have a good idea of how these configurations will perform, particularly with GPUs we’ve tested dozens of times.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobilt grafikkort i mellanklassen från Blackwell-familjen baserat på GB206-chipet med 3328 shaders och 8 GB GDDR7-grafikminne (128 bit).

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.

Core 7 240H: Alder Lake-baserad mobil CPU med 6 prestandakärnor och 4 effektiva kärnor. Prestandakärnorna erbjuder hyper threading för totalt 16 trådar.
