At Rs 1,49,999, the vivo X Fold 5 — the phone has a single Titanium Gray variant in India with 16GB RAM + 512GB storage — is one of the best foldable options available at the moment. The foldables are maturing as a segment, and the X Fold 5 shows that now it can be trusted as a business phone that is not cutting any corners to make the form factor viable. For work, this form factor is emerging as the new BlackBerry.

90% Vivo does it again — the X Fold 5 is the best foldable I used in 2025

The X Fold 5 isn't too different to its predecessor, and that's a good thing. You still get one of the thinnest and lightest foldables around, and it feels like a regular phone while using the outer panel. The inner 8.03-inch panel is among the best around, and it has the best battery life of any foldable I used. You also get class-leading ingress protection, fantastic cameras, and all the extras you want. It lags behind on the software front as it isn't debuting with Android 16, and it misses out on Qualcomm's latest silicon. However, the omissions don't detract from the overall experience, and the X Fold 5 is my pick if you need a foldable in 2025.

The Vivo X Fold 5 is one of the most refined foldable smartphones on the market today. It strikes an impressive balance between sleek design, reliable performance, and meaningful usability. The slim profile and lightweight build make it feel far less bulky than most book-style foldables, while still packing a massive 6000mAh battery – something even many slab-style flagships cannot match. Add to that a highly capable camera system, especially the telephoto portrait performance, and you have a foldable that genuinely delivers across the board. However, it is not a perfect package. While the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 offers more than enough power for daily use and gaming, Vivo could have truly gone all-in by including the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite to future-proof this flagship.

In conclusion, the Vivo X Fold 5 stands out with its premium, sleek design and lightweight build, making it comfortable to hold and easy to carry. The sharp, vibrant display enhances the viewing experience, while the bright main screen ensures comfortable content consumption even in bright environments. Performance felt solid during my brief hands-on time with the device, and the cameras are reportedly a major step up from the previous generation. In the foldable space, its main competitors include the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the older Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Vivo X Fold 5 isn't the strongest for gaming, thanks to its older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset - vs the Elite in that Z Fold 7. However, this foldable can still capably play Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact. Battery life is among the very best, thanks to the 6000mAh silicon cell, while FunTouch OS is actually decent for multi-tasking on that massive 8-inch screen. It's also the Zeiss branded camera tech that helps to set the Vivo X Fold 5 apart from some rivals. This does falter for portrait shots and night video, but otherwise performs above and beyond for a folding phone. I'm still testing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, so more on that later!

Vivo has been on a roll lately with one excellent flagship device after another, can the Vivo X Fold 5 continue the trend? I gotta say, I was a bit disappointed at not getting a X Fold 5 Pro this year, but the X Fold 5 still has plenty to like. Weighing just 217g, this is also the lightest large foldable yet. The X Fold 5 also brings back a camera system very similar to last year's X Fold 3 Pro, which means this camera should still be among the very best in foldable segment.

Qualcomm Adreno 750: Grafikchip för smartphones och surfplattor som är integrerat i Qualcomms Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm hävdar att det är 25 % snabbare än Adreno 7340 i Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 och de första benchmarks visar att GPU:n kan slå iGPU:n Apple A17 Pro.
