Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra är en välgjord utveckling av föregångaren med en trevlig uppfräschad design. Den nya OLED-skärmen har stöd för hög upplösning samtidigt som den har snabb bilduppdatering i 120 Hz som automatiskt anpassar sig efter innehållet. Den har också den mest ljusstarka skärmen vi någonsin sett i en smartphone.
Då vi saknar Snapdragon 888-utrustade Galaxy S21 Ultra-enheter kan vi just nu inte göra några slutgiltiga jämförelser mellan den europeiska Exynos 2100-utrustade varianten och den amerikanska Snapdragon-utrustade motsvarigheten. Men vi ser redan nu att Samsung har kommit ifatt betydligt i fråga om CPU-prestanda samtidigt som man hamnar efter i fråga om ihållande belastning och grafikprestanda. Med andra ord: en Exynos SoC kanske inte är det bästa valet, men det är heller inte ett dåligt val.
Den uppgraderade zoom-funktionen är definitivt en stor förbättring och bidrog till att säkra ett totalt sett positivt intryck för kamerauppsättningen. Men S21 Ultra misslyckas med att slå sina konkurrenter trots den nya HM3-sensorn på grund av problem med varierande bildkvalitet. Detta rör särskilt att bilderna saknar detalj och blir för skarpa. Trots detta har Samsung lyckats skapa en av de bästa och onekligen en av de mest mångsidiga smartphone-kamerorna som finns.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra är inte utan brister, men den är utan tvekan en av de bästa telefonerna som finns just nu.
Men frågan alla undrar över kvarstår: vad är haken? En sak är att den nya S21-serien inte längre har stöd för att utöka lagringen med ett microSD-kort. Modellerna med mindre lagring kan bli ett problem för den som gillar att spela in mycket film och det löser heller inte problemet med att backup-lösningen saknas.
Skärmen är heller inte utan brister, men dessa är i ärlighetens namn närmast pretentiösa. Färgprecisionen är skaplig men inte perfekt. Andra som Xiaomi och Apple är bättre på den punkten. Dessutom skulle det verkligen behövas en uppdatering av de ljudkodekar som stöds.
Totalt sett är Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra en av de bästa telefonerna som finns just nu.
