Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Släppet av iPhone 11 Pro Max sammanfaller med att iPhone XS Max dras tillbaka, vilket nog är ett smart drag av Apple. Det finns skillnader mellan de två enheterna, men de är inte tillräckligt stora för att det ska kännas rimligt att sälja båda enheterna samtidigt. Jämfört med sin föregångare har Pro Max mer datorkraft, en extra kameralins, en mer högupplöst kamera på framsidan, stöd för WiFi 6 samt en del andra innovationer. Den har dessutom snabbare upplåsning med Face ID, även om detta anländer först tillsammans med iOS 13. En stor skillnad med iPhone 11 Pro Max jämfört med dess föregångare är ett 25% större batteri som, tillsammans med sänkt energiförbrukning vid belastning, resulterar i betydligt längre batteritid.

Generellt är det inte de nya funktionerna som får Pro Max att stå ut, utan det rör sig snarare om en kombinerad effekt av många små förbättringar. Många av dessa har funnits länge på Android-sidan, men Apple har implementerat dem bra i sitt ekosystem. Den nya tredubbla kameran på baksidan är en märkbar förbättring över motsvarigheten på XS Max, särskilt i situationer med låg ljusnivå. Det nya nattläget hjälper också till att få Pro Max att stå ut gentemot sin föregångare. Även om Apples dyraste flaggskepp kanske inte har de bästa kamerorna på marknaden kan vi inte klaga på videoförmågan.

iPhone 11 Pro Max har riktigt lång batteritid, bra kameror och rikligt med prestanda.

Men Apple kunde gjort mer när det kommer till ljudförmågorna. Stereohögtalarna är okej men inte fantastiska och att det inte ens ingår en Lightning till 3.5 mm-adapter svider. Dessutom gör avsaknaden av högupplösta Bluetooth-kodeks att audiofiler inte behöver göra sig besvär.

I vårt tycke bör du prova iPhone 11 Pro Max innan du köper den eftersom det är en kraftig och tung enhet som inte kommer passa alla. Sammanfattningsvis är inte Pro Max en värd uppgradering från XS Max då de flesta förbättringarna den förstnämnda har beror på iOS13 snarare än på några större förändringar i hårdvaran. Från utsidan är det svårt att skilja enheterna åt om du inte har köpt Midnight Green-versionen, men Pro Max är ändå en stor uppgradering för den som äger en äldre iPhone. En A13 Bionic SoC, en tredubbel kamera, ett stort batteri och stöd för trådlös laddning är alla betydande uppgraderingar över äldre iPhone-modeller, vilket även gäller den ljusstarka och kontrastrika HDR-skärmen.

Obs: Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max är en av den första telefonerna som vi har poängsatt med den nya 7:e versionen av vårt omdömessystem. Vi har strukturerat om bland en del kriterier och justerat en del gränser för att säkra att framtida enheter inte kan få mer än 100 poäng på vissa områden. Som ett resultat av detta ger de nya v7-recensionerna i genomsnitt lägre procentsatser än recensioner som utgått från v6 av omdömessystemet.
