There's a lot to like about the Lenovo LOQ on first glance. The feel of this laptop and the design doesn't scream basic - in fact some might be taken by that slightly more subtle design than some other gaming laptops. We also love the rear IO and the colour detail to the vents around the chassis - it looks great. We have high hopes for this laptop, but obviously haven't had the opportunity to test it to any degree. But with plentiful hardware options and a wide range of features on offer, the Lenovo LOQ could be a great choice for someone looking for a powerful PC that doesn't cost the earth.

It features some great specs, both in hardware and display, while choosing options that keep its price point down. If its configurations can deliver on the $900 and up MSRP, then we’ll have our clear winners for this generation. That's not to mention how much lighter this machine is than some of the offerings we’ve seen this generation yet. If the price is truly right — and it should be with the option to customize and lower pricing even more, as well as the choice between AMD and Intel CPUs — then we could be looking at the kind of mix between value and performance that’s long overdue in the gaming market.

It looks recognisably from the brand, and it behaves in a similar fashion when under stress. Its lasting power while not plugged in is left wanting. Which is fine, as it’s not the laptop’s primary purpose, but when you do find yourself in such a situation, you’ll feel the pressure to get your work done more while using it. Worth it, as the base display is undersaturated. The Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics card? Absolutely. And unlike some other brands' upgrades, these ones are sensibly priced. The keyboard is great, as is the overall look and feel of the Lenovo LOQ 15. It just doesn't seem as cheap and basic as much of the competition. There's just one part I wish was better - the tone of the fan noise. As long as you're happy with this, the mediocre touchpad and lack of ultra-fast connectivity, it's a really great option.

Of course, this doesn’t take into consideration the temperatures and some features that are missing. In our opinion, the regular user won’t be interested in them. In terms of pure gaming experience, you don’t really need an SD card slot, nor a Thunderbolt 4 port. However, you might want a MUX switch, and the LOQ 15 delivers in this department. Lenovo LOQ (15″ Intel, 2023)’s IPS panel has a Full HD resolution, comfortable viewing angles, and a very good contrast ratio. Its backlight doesn’t use PWM for brightness adjustment, which is great.

Especially since this combo of the latest Ryzen 7 7840HS and RTX 4060 processors — mixed with a smooth 144Hz G-SYNC ready display — is a great recipe for 1080p gaming. And seeing how most of the competition with a similar setup cost quite a bit more, the LOQ 15 stands out as a solid offering. Having said that, there are a few turnoffs here that may or may not matter to you. Like its cheap plastic build, that so-so display, and a few other things. But I think these mild turnoffs are something you can live with just fine, considering everything the LOQ 15 offers for the price.

While the standard 1080p display is good enough though, I would rather have a higher resolution 1440p display at this size format. Despite not having premium aesthetics, I was pretty satisfied with the implementation as the laptop doesn’t look cheap and seems to justify the cost. The Lenovo LOQ 15i (Gen 9) is a great budget gaming laptop. The CPU can maintain high clocks even in prolonged periods of max stress and that’s possible because of the sizable cooling solution. The optional GeForce RTX 4050 (Laptop) can offer a 2580MHz core clock after 30 minutes of gaming. That’s the highest frequency we’ve seen among all RTX 4050 that we have tested up to date. The 16:9 IPS display (AUO B156HAN15.K (AUO7EAD)) has good viewing angles and contrast ratio. The unit is also PWM-free and boasts 96% sRGB coverage. The designers who are looking to buy a machine at a decent price should be happy – the color accuracy reaches an average dE value of 1.2 with our “Design and Gaming” profile which is a great improvement compared to the 3.9 out-of-the-box result.

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU: Grafikkort för bärbara datorer i mellanklassen baserat på Ampere GA107-chipet. Har 2560 shaders och erbjuds i olika TGP-varianter (strömförbrukning) från 35 till 80 watt med olika klockfrekvenser och därmed prestanda. Uppdatering av RTX 3050 med 6GB, högre shaderantal men en minskad minnesbandbredd på 96Bit.
Intel A530M: Intel Arc A530M är ett dedikerat mobilt grafikkort i nedre mellanklassen baserat på Xe HPG-mikroarkitektur. Det har 12 kärnor (192 ALU), 12 strålspårningsenheter och en typisk kärnhastighet för spel på 1300 MHz. TGP är specificerad till mellan 65 och 95 watt.
De här grafikkorten levererar bäst 3D-prestanda för bärbara datorer. De kan hantera alla nya spel i hög upplösning och ofta med avancerade inställningar. Däremot är strömförbrukningen hög, så batteritiden blir lidande (med undantag för bärbara datorer med växlingsbar grafik). Som regel hittar man bara de här GPU:erna i större laptops.
