Looking at those performance results, you could be forgiven for wondering what all the other manufacturers are doing. The Honor MagicBook Pro performs so well and at such a reasonable price that it embarrasses laptops costing hundreds of pounds more. I'd be lying if I said it doesn't have any shortcomings. I’d like to have seen a higher resolution display with a taller aspect ratio, for instance, the keyboard and touchpad aren’t quite up to the standards of the best laptops on the market (although they're far from awful), and the webcam positioning isn't ideal. However, at £850, the Honor MagicBook Pro is simply bonkers good. It’s incredibly fast, surprisingly slim and light for a 16.1in machine, it looks smart and feels well made. If you need a powerful machine for use at home as well as on the road but don’t have big bucks to spend, this is the laptop you should be saving up for.

I am used to review samples coming with a US keyboard where only a few keys are differently placed but this arrived with a German keyboard and when you use a UK keyboard overlay on it a number of keys move the most obvious is that the Y and Z are transposed but harder to fathom is where other keys have gone the most vital on initial setup of this Notebook is the ‘@’ key as try entering an email address without it, once booted you can investigate further.

The performance of a Ryzen 5 4600H, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage are a pretty great deal for the price of this machine. Plus, the fact that you get all that in a fairly light package and with decent battery life is great, and it makes that price even more justified. I did expect a bit more performance from an H-series laptop compared to a U-series one, but clearly, AMD is still besting Intel's competing products in at least some areas, and there's not much to complain about.

Like I said before, this MagicBook Pro is a very odd release to happen in 2021. The laptop was released almost a year ago in China, and by now, both Intel and Nvidia have newer components on the market, and Honor itself has announced the new MagicBook 14 and 15 in China, which have the much better Tiger Lake processors and a GeForce MX450 GPU.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Intel Comet Lake:
i7-10510U: Comet Lake-baserad fyrkärnig lågenergiprocessor (tekniskt sett identisk med Whiskey Lake och produceras fortfarande i 14 nm++). CPU-kärnorna kan ha en klockfrekvens på mellan 1.8 och 4.9 GHz (4.3 GHz för alla 4 kärnorna samtidigt) med HyperThreading (8 trådar). Den inbyggda minneskontrollenheten har stöd för DDR4-2666 och genom att använda cTDP upp/ner kan prestandan justeras av tillverkaren (10 - 25 Watt är möjligt, 15 W är standard).
Intel Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 7 155H: Ett avancerat Meteor Lake-chip som debuterade i december 2023. Denna 1:a generationens Core Ultra-processor har kommit för att ersätta 13:e generationens Core-chip; den har 16 kärnor (6 + 8 + 2) och 22 trådar till sitt förfogande. Performance-kärnorna, som är 6 till antalet, arbetar i upp till 4,8 GHz medan Efficient-kärnorna, som är 10 till antalet (8 huvudkärnor plus 2 extra som finns i Low Power Island) arbetar i upp till 3,8 GHz.
