While other brands may chase ultra-premium materials or flashy OLED panels, HP has instead focused on nailing the fundamentals with the Omnibook X 14: good battery life, reliable productivity performance, a sturdy build, and a $2,099 price point that’s easier to justify if you're just looking to get work done without paying extra for style. But it’s not flawless, of course. The display lacks colour vibrancy, and I’m not entirely comfortable with its low brightness levels. Then there’s the chassis – while solidly built, it doesn’t quite carry the same visual polish or refinement as some of its competitors. That said, the Omnibook X 14’s battery life is excellent, and that alone is a major selling point if you're often working on the go.

The HP OmniBook X Flip is my new go-to for recommending midrange convertibles. It does everything you could ask for out of a slim laptop, and does it with style. The keyboard is a joy to type on, the touchpad is good (although it's not a haptic one), and it has a decent port selection. Most laptop purchasers want battery life, performance, and a good screen, and the OmniBook X Flip has all of those, whether you pick the 14-inch or 16-inch version. The onboard speakers are slightly better on the larger model, but that's about the only difference I could point at after a month of extended use. Get the one that fits your backpack and be happy. But before you do, double-check the discounts on the HP OmniBook Ultra Flip, because the flagship is sometimes cheaper than the midrange.

Firstly, we'd strongly recommend opting for the pricier 32GB model, and secondly, we really wish the speakers were better. If HP could find a way to get a more full-bodied audio experience, this would be a nigh-on perfect laptop for the home – or the home office. Even as it stands, though, this is one of our favourite laptops of 2025 so far. If you've got around £1,400 to spend on a laptop, the OmniBook X Flip 16 should be very near the top of your shopping list.

I really do not know why the HP OmniBook X Flip 16 2-in-1 design hit me as it did. There is this subtle line on the bottom that sort of curves out and makes this laptop look really nice. The color of the laptop is also stunning, and while it does grab some fingerprints, it’s not as bad as some other laptops. It’s also lightweight for a 16″ laptop. The 3K OLED display on this unit is vibrant and punchy, with deep blacks, crisp whites, and an excellent brightness level. The Intel 258V paired with 32 GB of RAM is excellent and handles my video editing and photo editing with ease. The fans rarely kicked in on this unless I was rendering something heavy in 4K. The speakers are just okay; the soundstage is decent, but they do lack a bottom end. They do get the job done though. Battery life is outstanding, as expected with this 258V under the hood.

For the price of the OmniBook X Flip 16 I tested, if you're not getting a dedicated GPU, then you should rightly expect a better keyboard, touchpad, webcam and speakers. For significantly less than the Flip 16's price, you can grab an Acer Swift Go 16, which also includes a beautiful OLED panel and outperformed the Flip 16 on the majority of our benchmarks. While the Swift can't match the Flip 16 for battery life and doesn't offer two-in-one functionality, it makes for a much cheaper date if you want a big-screen OLED laptop for home use.

But it also makes confusing choices like having huge grilles that do almost nothing. Its keyboard prioritizes form over function. And a 16-inch tablet over four pounds probably won’t be practical for most people, especially without reliable palm rejection. Then there’s the performance. It simply doesn’t take full advantage of the hardware, in many cases getting outperformed by lower-tier hardware. Perhaps it would have worked better had HP used all of its grilles to get more airflow and heat dissipation. But it didn’t. And in spite of that, the OmniBook X Flip 16 is on the expensive side.

I haven't really pointed out any major negatives in this review, and that's because, at nearly ₹1.5 lakh, the Omnibook X Flip delivers the kind of flagship thin-and-light experience you'd expect. It packs an immersive 3K OLED touchscreen in a foldable form factor, is lightweight and ergonomic for on-the-go use, and offers one of the most comfortable keyboards I've typed on in a while. Put simply, it feels like the complete package. Of course, if I had to nitpick, there are a few things. Windows still isn't fully optimised for a touchscreen-only workflow, the audio output leaves room for improvement, and the lack of a fingerprint reader is noticeable. Competing laptops in this range also offer slightly better battery life, though none of them double up as a convertible. At the end of the day, those quibbles are just that: nitpicks. The HP Omnibook X Flip is an excellent all-rounder that blends performance, portability, and premium features into one very compelling machine.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 is a mixed bag. It’s a beautifully built 2-in-1 with a fantastic, sharp OLED display and a rock-solid hinge. For general productivity, it’s fast and capable. But its strengths are undermined by three weaknesses: a keyboard that isn’t the most comfortable for fast typing, average graphics performance, and a battery that leaves you wanting. If you are a student or professional who primarily works with documents and the web, values a great screen for watching videos, and loves the flexibility of a 2-in-1 design with an included pen, the OmniBook X Flip could be a good fit. However, if you need a machine for creative work, professional gaming, or a full day of untethered use, this "jack of all trades" unfortunately masters too few to earn a strong recommendation.

The HP OmniBook X Flip 14 surely delivers a flagship thin-and-light experience at around Rs. 1.5 lakh price tag. The device comes with a premium and minimal-looking design, while the display is surely one of the biggest highlights. The 3K OLED touchscreen provides vibrant colours and deep blacks, making the whole viewing experience pleasurable. The performance is decent, and it can handle most of the workloads throughout the day. That said, the keyboard, in my opinion, could have been better, while the audio experience is sub-par compared to the rest of the competition. That said, if you are looking for a thin and light laptop that delivers a premium design and decent performance, then you can consider this machine.

HP:

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-85 3.8 TFLOPS: En integrerad grafikadapter som flera Snapdragon X Elite- och X Plus-processorer har. Adreno har inget stöd för SUHD 4320p-bildskärmar och när det gäller prestanda är det inte mycket snabbare än den åldrande 96 EU Intel Iris Xe iGPU.

Intel Arc 140V: Ett ganska snabbt integrerat grafikkort som vissa Intel Lunar Lake-processorer enligt uppgift använder. 140V har 8 Xe²-arkitekturkärnor som körs i upp till 2 050 MHz och 8 strålspårningsenheter; det är DirectX 12 Ultimate-aktiverat och det stöder också alla moderna videocodecs. Om de senaste läckorna av benchmarkresultat är någon indikation, kommer dess spelprestanda att vara något bättre än GeForce MX570.

Intel Arc 130V: Ett integrerat grafikkort som används i de lägre Intel Lunar Lake-processorerna. Detta är en direkt efterföljare till Arc 7 iGPU; den har 7 Xe²-arkitekturkärnor som körs i upp till 1 850 MHz och 7 strålspårningsenheter till sitt förfogande.
