Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 konvertibel recension: Inte nödvändigtvis bättre än den äldre Inspiron

Från Core Ultra-H till Core Ultra-V.

Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 är smalare och mer balanserad än Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 som den är tänkt att ersätta. Även om den mestadels lyckas, är den inte riktigt homerun på några viktiga områden.

Omdöme - smalare och lättare med vissa kompromisser

Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 är både en uppgradering och en nedgradering jämfört med förra årets Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 från förra året. Den är något lättare och tunnare med mycket snabbare grafikprestanda än tidigare, vilket kan gynna resenärer, casual gamers eller GPU-accelererade uppgifter.

Några av förändringarna från år till år kanske inte är för alla. Övergången från Core Ultra-H till Core Ultra-V-processorer i synnerhet har minskat den råa processorkraften med ganska stor marginal. Samtidigt är de omarrangerade portarna förmodligen till det sämre eftersom båda USB-C-portarna nu är packade nära varandra vilket påverkar dockningsergonomin. Batterikapaciteten har också minskats avsevärt så att batteritiden är kortare än på Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1, trots att det äldre systemet levereras med den snabbare Core Ultra-H-processorn.

Balanserade användare som kan uppskatta det integrerade numpadet och den relativt snabba iGPU:n kanske föredrar den nyare Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1. Annars kan kraftfulla användare som förlitar sig på rå CPU-hästkrafter fortfarande vilja ha den äldre Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1, särskilt eftersom båda modellerna delar exakt samma paneler för en identisk visningsupplevelse.

Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 är den konvertibla versionen av Dell 16 Plus clamshell och den direkta efterträdaren till 2024 Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1. Den representerar början på en ny generation av vanliga bärbara datorer som är utformade för att ersätta den gamla utgående Inspiron-namngivningskonventionen.

Fallet

Väskan är en upprepning av Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 och använder liknande aluminium- och plastmaterial för den välbekanta "Inspiron"-känslan och -kvaliteten. Mått och vikt är därefter nästan identiska mellan de två modellerna, med undantag för den något tunnare profilen på den nyare modellen.

Systemet använder exakt samma AU Optronics B160QAT mini-LED-panel som finns på förra årets Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 för samma visningsupplevelse mellan de två modellerna. Mini-LED-paneler är vanligtvis ljusare och har djupare färger än de flesta IPS-paneler för bättre HDR-stöd, men de kan uppvisa haloeffekter och svagare svartnivåer som inte annars finns på OLED-paneler.

Maximal ljusstyrka kan nå 642 nits när HDR är aktiverat eller 432 nits i standard SDR-läge.

Vi ställde in Dell Optimizer på prestandaläge innan vi körde nedanstående benchmarks.

Processor

Core Ultra 7 Core Ultra 7 256V betonar prestanda per watt framför rå prestanda och erbjuder därför mycket lite jämfört med den senaste generationens Core Ultra 7 155U eller till och med Core i7-1355U om användarna inte använder den integrerade NPU. Kanske mest anmärkningsvärt är att uppgradera till den dyrare Core Ultra 9 288V konfigurationen förväntas bara öka prestandan med en ynka 5 procent i bästa fall baserat på vår tid med Acer Swift 16 AI. För Core Ultra 7 155H i förra årets Inspiron 16 7640 2-i-1 är ungefär 1,5 gånger snabbare än vår Core Ultra 256V.

Systembuller

Fläktens ljudnivå och tak är i princip oförändrade jämfört med vad vi observerade på förra årets modell, trots skillnaderna i CPU- och iGPU-prestanda. Fläkten i Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 är dock långsammare på att reagera på skärmbelastningar och därför kan systemet förbli tystare längre innan högre varvtal behövs.

Stresstest

När Prime95-stress initierades ökade processorn till 3,4 GHz och 38 W tills den nådde 93 C flera sekunder senare. Därefter sjönk prestandan till 2,5 GHz och 22 W för att bibehålla en svalare kärntemperatur på 72 C. Detta är nästan 15 C svalare jämfört med Inspiron 16 7640 2-in-1 under liknande förhållanden, men kom ihåg att Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 också levereras med en långsammare processor.

Kärntemperaturen när Cyberpunk 2077 körs för att representera typiska spelbelastningar skulle också vara betydligt svalare än på förra årets Inspiron samtidigt som den erbjuder bättre spelprestanda.

När man kör mer krävande belastningar kräver Dell 16 Plus 2-i-1 dock mycket mindre ström eftersom Core Ultra 7 258V är långsammare och effektivare än Core Ultra 7 155H.
