Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Frågan vi ställde oss i början av testet är inte så lätt att besvara: Har Mi A3 förbättrats eller försämrats jämfört med sin föregångare? Det finns tecken på båda fallen. Å ena sidan har vi en lågupplöst skärm, en viss sänkning i 3D-prestanda och högre energiförbrukning. Å andra sidan har den en modernare design, betydligt längre batteritid, bättre kamerautrustning och en förbättrad högtalare.

Mi A3 lider också av haltande WLAN, vilket Xiaomi snabbt får ta och fixa med en uppdatering, för annars går det knappt att använda telefonen till appar som använder WLAN-kommunikation såsom Skype.

På en del sätt är Xiaomi Mi A3 bättre än sin föregångare. Men Xiaomi får snabbt ta och fixa problemen med haltande WLAN genom en uppdatering.

Konkurrenterna får hålla sig på tårna, för till ett pris av 2.000 kronor finns det knappt någon som har så mycket datorkraft, en OLED-skärm, ett batteri som håller i evigheter och dessutom en modern design. I slutändan väger fördelarna över även om föregångaren Mi A2 fortfarande har ett bättre förhållande mellan pris och prestanda eftersom den för tillfället kostar 500 kronor mindre.

Observera: Xiaomi Mi A3 är en av de första telefonerna som vi utvärderat utifrån nya Version 7 av vårt omdömessystem. Eftersom en del kriterier blivit striktare och en del gränser har flyttats så att framtida enheter inte kommer att spränga skalan är omdömen givna enligt Version 7 lägre än i tidigare tester. Under de kommande veckorna utvärderar vi de viktigaste enheterna med det nya systemet så du enkelt kan jämföra dem.
