Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Det verkar som att Razer har fortsatt jobba på Blade sedan vårt första test och att de eliminerat olika svagheter längs vägen. Det som förblir oförändrat är det enastående chassit, vilket – vad gäller byggkvalitet och finish – skulle kunna fungera som referens i Windows-världen. Endast fingeravtryck (som hopas snabbt) förblir ett problem.


Tangentbordet är ganska bra och vi råkar verkligen gilla pekplattan, som svarar snabbt och låter fingrarna glida lätt. Pekdonet har också två dedikerade musknappar, vilket är sällsynt numera. Med tanke på de kompakta dimensionerna kan Blade erbjuda alla de anslutningsmöjligheter vi begär.  Däremot är avsaknaden av en SD-kortläsare något av en besvikelse.


Full HD-skärmen kompletterar resten av hårdvaran, särskilt eftersom GeForce GTX 1060-kortet kan hantera de flesta aktuella spel med maxupplösning och höga inställningar. Användare med mer kreativa sysselsättningar kanske vill överväga den valfria skärmen med upplösningen QHD+, som inte bara har fler pixlar utan också bättre färgrymd samtidigt som den är enklare att kalibrera.


Vad gäller prestandan är kombinationen av en fyrkärning Intel-CPU och GeForce GTX 1060 utan tvekan mycket kraftfull. Även om den här kompakta datorn halkar efter andra, liknande maskiner något håller det ändå en mycket hög nivå även under långa perioder av hög belastning.

Detta leder oss till en av de få men allvarliga nackdelarna: Razer Blade kan vara helt tyst i viloläge eller under webbsurf, men när du startar ett spel kan systemet bli ytterst högljutt. Vi rekommenderar definitivt hörlurar när du spelar spel.


Sist men inte minst är batteritiden också bra: Blade höll sig vid liv i 9 timmar under vårt WLAN-test, så datorn erövrar även titeln som den ”mest långlivade bärbara speldatorn”. Det finns både snabbare och billigare alternativ, men ingen spelmaskin lyckas se lika sexig ut som Razer Blade.
