Om HTC lyckats med sitt försök att göra ett unikt designstatement med Desire 530 är en smaksak. Oavsett utseendet är höljet tilltalande och välbyggt, med bra hårdvaruknappar. Materialvalen förmedlar däremot ingen högkvalitativ känsla, särskilt eftersom den är ganska stor för att vara en smartphone med 5-tumsskärm.

Mobilen för pluspoäng för det uppdaterade operativsystemet, möjligheten att utöka lagringen med micro-SD-kort och den bra batteritiden. Tyvärr är kamerorna bara genomsnittliga och skärmens betraktningsvinklar är inte helt stabila. Vidare är den generella prestandan lägre jämfört med många konkurrenter.

HTC Desire 530 är en färgklick i den ganska breda massan av prisvärda Androidmobiler, även om den inte bjuder på några tekniska höjdpunkter. Köparen kommer förmodligen att välja luren av främst designmässiga skäl och det fräscha Androidgränssnittet.

Några starka alternativ till Desire 530 är bland annat Samsungs Galaxy J3 (2016), som är billigare och har en utmärkt AMOLED-skärm samt utbytbart batteri. Å andra sidan ingår vare sig ljussensor eller den senaste versionen av Android. Om prestanda är desto viktigare är ZTE Blade V6 och Huaweis P8 intressanta mellanklassmodeller, med priser som sjunkit avsevärt sedan lanseringen.
