Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Dell Precision 7710 har reviderats i grunden och har uppdaterats på många viktiga punkter. Köparen får en mobil arbetsstation med mycket bra prestanda, enkelt underhåll, bra inmatningsenheter och en bra Full HD-skärm som lämpar sig för professionell användning. Som vanligt erbjuder Dell många konfigurationsalternativ, samt extragarantier och service-tillägg som tillval.

Men vi är inte helt nöjda med anslutningsmöjligheterna, som borde ha varit bättre i en helt ny 17-tums arbetsstation. Äldre gränssnitt har tagits bort, men moderna portar som USB 3.1 Gen.2, Thunderbolt 3.0 (endast tillval) och HDMI 2.0 saknas fortfarande. Du får också klara dig utan optisk enhet och en extra 2,5-tumsplats. 

Det är heller inte OK att testmodellens grafikprestanda stryps kraftigt under stresstestet och under batteridrift. Eftersom mobila arbetsstationer köps särskilt för prestandaintensiva uppgifter är problemet desto mer graverande.

Dell kompenserar för detta med lågt fläktljud under låg belastning och övergripande låg värmeutveckling. Batteritiden är enastående trots ett mindre 72 Wh-batteri, så datorn klarar sig ett bra tag utan vägguttag.

Allt som allt får du en robust mobil arbetsstation för en bra bit över 30 000 kr, inklusive 36 månaders ProSupport med på platsen-service (gäller vår testmodell).
