Slagkraftig. Med sin fyrkärniga CPU och en kraftig GeForce GTX 1080 GPU så hanterar ROG Strix GL702VI till och med den senaste generationen av grafik-intensiva spel relativt lätt. Dom dubbla fläktarna har inga problem med att hålla hettan i shack, men som helhet ligger systemprestandan en aning efter konkurrensen.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Totalt sett är Asus ROG Strix GL702VI en tillräckligt trevlig spellaptop utan alltför många tillkortakommanden. Även om vi inte kan förbise det faktum att systemet inte riktigt når upp till sin fulla potential - Asus verkar hålla sig på den säkra sidan när det kommer till temperaturhantering i det här fallet - vi hade hellre gett upp några procent i prestanda än behövt stå ut med ett system som hela tiden balanserar på gränsen till överhettning. Med det sagt så kunde Asus dock ha justerat fläkthanteringen med en firmware-uppdatering och samtidigt löst problemet med dom cyklande fläkthastigheterna, då detta beteende kan bli riktigt irriterande efter ett tag. Bleeding på skärmen är också ett problem, men kan vara begränsat till vår testenhet.

Även om Asus ROG Strix GL702VI är utrustad med toppskikts-komponenter så hamnar den en aning efter när det kommer till ren prestanda.

Tangentbordet är bra nog för längre skrivsessioner, handledsstödet håller sig svalt vid alla tillfällen och utbudet av portar är tillräckligt. Spelandet är smidigt tack vare kombinationen av Nvidias toppskikts-grafikkort GeForce GTX 1080 med en 120 Hz G-Sync Full HD IPS-skärm och borde tillfredställa dom flesta ett bra tag framöver. Användare som vill pressa sin hårdvara till det yttersta behöver leta någon annanstans, men utöver det är Strix GL702VI ett hyfsat och ganska billigt val.
