Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Apple har bestämt sig för att lämna designen orörd på den 5:e generationen av iPad mini och riktar istället in sig mot den som är intresserad av att fräscha upp sin åldande enhet med splitter ny hårdvara. Och det är precis det som iPad mini 5 har att erbjuda. Apple A12 Bionic har exceptionell prestanda och den nya framåtriktade FaceTime-kameran är en riktigt välkommen uppgradering som videosamtal definitivt kan dra nytta av. iOS 12.2 är uppdaterat och kommer att få regelbundna säkerhetsuppdateringar om inte Apple plötsligt ändrar sin uppdateringspolicy.

iPad mini 5 erbjuder splitter ny hårdvara i ett välkänt hölje. Även om det går att kritisera Apple för deras oförmåga att komma på nya designer så är det definitivt inte nödvändigt att göra så.

Den som vill uppgradera sin existerande Apple-enhet kan göra det utan att behöva tveka. Den som ännu inte är helt övertygad bör känna till de begränsningar som iPad mini har. Som exempel går det inte att utöka minnet då den saknar en microSD-kortplats, så det ända alternativ som återstår är molnlagring. Apple har ett högt prispåslag för LTE-stöd och det brukar kosta mycket mindre än 1.200 kronor att få LTE-stöd på konkurrerande Android-enheter. WiFi-versionen saknar dessutom en GPS-modul och att föra över filer mellan en iPad och en PC är mer komplicerat än vi hade räknat med. Men iPad mini 5 kommer med ett effektivt säljargument i form av sin imponerande prestanda.
