Medion Erazer Major X20 recension: Notebook för spel med RTX 4070 och solid hårdvara

Uppgraderad. Medions tungt utrustade bärbara dator för spel har en stor 16-tumsskärm (QHD+, 240 Hz, G-Sync) i 16:10-format, ett mekaniskt tangentbord, 32 GB RAM-minne och hela 2 TB lagringsutrymme. En Core i9-13900HX och en GeForce RTX 4070 driver den kraftfulla datormonstret.

Medion Erazer Major X20 är i första hand en bärbar dator för spel, men den är också avsedd för andra datorintensiva tillämpningar. Jämfört med föregångaren https://www.notebookcheck.net/Medion-Erazer-Major-X10-laptop-review-Debut-of-Intel-Arc-A730M.650477.0.htmlhar X20 fått några användbara uppgraderingar: den Arc A730M grafikkärnan har fått ge plats åt en betydligt kraftfullare GeForce RTX 4070. Dessutom ersätter ett mekaniskt tangentbord chiclet-modellen, medan en av de två USB-C-portarna (USB 3.2 Gen 2) har tagits bort och den återstående har uppgraderats till en Thunderbolt 4-port.

X20 är baserad på en Tongfang barebone (GM6PX7X), som i stort sett liknar den modell som är känd från XMG Neo 16, men porten för vattenkylning saknas. Bland konkurrenterna finns bärbara datorer som t.ex Aorus 15X ASF, den Razer Blade 15 OLED (Tidig 22) och Asus ROG Strix G17 G713PI.

Fodral - Ett diskret yttre för Medions bärbara dator

Medion använder ett elegant, sobert chassi som inte sticker ut, inte ens i en professionell miljö. Baksidan av locket på det mattsvarta fodralet är tillverkat av aluminium, basenheten av plast. En halkfri gummibeläggning täcker basenhetens ovansida. Förutom tangenternas bakgrundsbelysning (RGB), två fritt konfigurerbara LED-remsor (RGB) inuti de bakre luftventilerna och den upplysta Erazer-logotypen på locket luckrar upp det annars seriöst utseende fallet

Den 16 tums rackaren avslöjar inga tillverkningsfel. Spaltmåtten är jämna och det finns inga materialutsprång. Basenheten kan bara vridas något, locket tydligare, men hela enheten ligger inom rimliga gränser. Batteriet (skruvat, inte limmat) och andra interna komponenter är tillgängliga efter att bottenskalet avlägsnats. Gångjärnen håller locket stadigt på plats och den maximala öppningsvinkeln är cirka 130 grader. Det är möjligt att öppna locket med en hand.

I jämförelsefältet är Medions bärbara dator en av de enheter som har den tjockaste konstruktionen. När det gäller vikten hamnar den i mitten av fältet.

Utrustning - Major X20 erbjuder Thunderbolt 4

Erazer har tre USB-A-portar (1x USB 3.2 Gen 1, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2) och en USB-C-port (Thunderbolt 4). Den sistnämnda matar ut en DisplayPort-signal, men ger inget stöd för Power Delivery. Major X20 har också totalt två videoutgångar (HDMI 2.1, DP). Ytterligare anslutningar inkluderar en plats för ett kabellås, två ljuduttag och en Gigabit Ethernet-port (2,5 Gbps)

Videoutgångarna, strömningsfacket och nätverksporten finns på baksidan av enheten. Motsvarande kablar löper alltså från baksidan och är inte i vägen.

Underhåll

Efter att ha tagit bort alla skruvar på enhetens undersida kan bottenskalet lossas med hjälp av en platt spatel eller en fogslätare. Du har då tillgång till de två RAM-platserna (båda upptagna), de två SSD-enheterna (PCIe 4, M.2-2280), WLAN-modulen, fläktarna, BIOS-batteriet och batteriet till den bärbara datorn.

Garanti

Medion ger två års garanti på Erazer i Tyskland. Detta kan skilja sig åt i andra länder, så köpare bör dubbelkolla innan de köper.

Garantiförlängningar finns tillgängliga men måste köpas tillsammans med den bärbara datorn i Medions webbutik. Ett efterföljande köp är inte möjligt.

Inmatningsenheter - Mekaniskt tangentbord med Cherry MX-switchar

Tangentbord

I stället för ett chiclet-tangentbord har Medion installerat ett mekaniskt tangentbord i X20. Cherry MX-omkopplarna har en medelhög rörelse och en tydligt hörbar och märkbar tryckpunkt. Användaren blir bortskämd med en fyllig skrivkänsla och exakt återkoppling, och tangentbordet ger inte efter under skrivandet. Två funktionstangenter reglerar ljusstyrkan hos den individuella fyrstegsbelysningen av tangenterna (RGB). På det hela taget kan vi tala om ett gediget tangentbord här.

Pekplatta

En klickplatta (ca 11,6 x 7,2 cm) med multitouchfunktion fungerar som musersättning. Den släta ytan gör det lätt att glida med fingrarna. Den erbjuder korta resor och en tydlig tryckpunkt. Ett fingertryck på lysdioden i det övre vänstra hörnet sätter hela kudden på eller stänger av den.

Medion installerar en 240 Hz-panel med G-Sync-stöd. Det senare justerar dynamiskt uppdateringsfrekvensen för skärmen och GPU:n för att skapa den jämnaste möjliga bildkvaliteten - särskilt när du spelar.

PWM-flimmer förekommer inte vid någon ljusstyrka. Ljusstyrkan och kontrasten på den matta 16-tumspanelen (2560x1600) i det arbetsvänliga 16:10-formatet når respektive mål (> 300 cd/m² eller 1000:1).

Skärmen ger en bra färgrepresentation i levererat skick: Målet (DeltaE < 3) uppnås med en avvikelse på cirka 2,4. Manuell kalibrering minskar avvikelsen till 1,4 och säkerställer en mer balanserad gråskala

Panelen täcker helt sRGB-färgrymden, men inte AdobeRGB- och DCI-P3-färgrymderna. Om alla tre färgrymderna krävs finns det inget sätt att komma runt den.Blade 15's OLED-skärm.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 17900 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Prestanda - Raptor Lake och Ada Lovelace driver den bärbara speldatorn

Spel, rendering och i allmänhet alla prestandakrävande tillämpningsområden hör till Erazer Major X20:s användningsområden. Raptor Lake och Ada Lovelace ger den nödvändiga datorkraften. Den här modellen är tillgänglig för cirka 2 500 euro (~2 500 US-dollar).

Provningsförhållanden

X20 har tre tillverkarspecifika strömlägen (se tabell) som du kan välja via en separat knapp (bredvid strömknappen). En status-LED avslöjar vilket läge som är aktivt. "Turbo Mode" (benchmarks) och "Office Mode" (batteritester) användes. Optimus var aktivt.

Individuella profiler kan skapas med hjälp av den förinstallerade programvaran Control Center. Till exempel kan effektgränserna för CPU, TGP för GPU och/eller de övre temperaturgränserna justeras.

Vi använde det engelskspråkiga gränssnittet i CC-programvaran eftersom den tyska översättningen delvis misslyckades. Du kan växla mellan de två språken.

The Core-i9-13900HX (Raptor Lake) består av åtta prestandakärnor (hyperthreading, 2,2-5,4 GHz) och sexton effektivitetskärnor (ingen hyperthreading, 1,6-3,9 GHz). Totalt finns det 32 logiska CPU-kärnor. Resultaten från benchmarken ligger i nivå med CPU:ns genomsnittliga hastigheter.

Inga (fler) experiment: Medan Medion installerade en av de då nya Arc GPU:erna från Intel iMajor X10har X20 en GeForce RTX 4070 bärbar dator kort (VRAM: 8 192 GB GDDR6) från Nvidia. Detta har en maximalt möjlig TGP på 140 watt (115 watt + 25 watt Dynamic Boost) till sitt förfogande, vilket inte utnyttjas fullt ut enligt testet Witcher 3.

Utsläpp - Erazers bärbara dator kan ge upphov till mycket buller

Buller

X20 kan producera mycket buller under belastning: toppvärden på upp till 57 dB(A) uppnås när "Turbo Mode" är aktivt. Bakgrundsljudet är något som liknar ett väsande ljud. Inget störande bakgrundsljud avges av fläktarna. En totalt sett lägre ljudnivå kan åstadkommas genom att använda de två andra prestandaprofilerna - på bekostnad av beräkningskraften.

Utsläppen vid tomgångskörning och vid daglig användning (kontor, internet) är tilltalande: fläktarna arbetar med mycket låga varvtal och är ofta tomgångskörning - i alla tre prestandaprofilerna.

Stresstest

Stresstestet (Prime95 och Furmark i kontinuerlig drift) utgör ett extremt scenario för att testa systemets stabilitet under full belastning. CPU:n börjar testet med hög klockfrekvens (P: 4 GHz, E: 3,3 GHz), medan GPU:n startar med 1,5 till 2 GHz. Under de första fem minuterna sjunker CPU-klockan gradvis till 2-2,4 GHz (P-kärnor) och 1,9-2,1 GHz (E-kärnor). Samtidigt ökar GPU-klockan till 2,3-2,4 GHz.

Effektförbrukning

Den bärbara datorn från Medion uppvisar inga avvikelser när det gäller energiförbrukning. Hastigheterna ligger på en normal nivå för den installerade hårdvaran. Batteritid

I WLAN-testet uppnår 16-tummare körtider på 3:52 timmar och 4:12 timmar (laddning av webbplatser med hjälp av ett skript) respektive videotest (kortfilm Big Buck Bunny, H.264-kodning, FHD, i en slinga). Den bärbara datorns energisparfunktioner var avaktiverade under båda testerna och skärmens ljusstyrka sattes till cirka 150 cd/m². Radiomodulerna var också avaktiverade under videotestet.

De generellt sett under genomsnittet liggande körtiderna beror på den låga batterikapaciteten (62,3 Wh) för en bärbar dator för spel. Mer skulle ha varit möjligt med 80 Wh-batteriet i föregångaren.

Den här kraftfulla bärbara datorn möjliggör QHD+-spel, men briljerar även på andra områden. A Core i9-13900HX och en GeForce RTX 4070 arbetar med konstant höga klockfrekvenser, två SSD-diskar på 1 TB säkerställer korta laddningstider och tillräckligt med lagringsutrymme. Buller- och värmeutvecklingen ligger i det höga intervallet, vilket är typiskt för den här klassen av bärbara datorer.

Med Erazer Major X20 presenterar Medion en välutrustad bärbar dator för spel i mellanklassen utan några allvarliga svagheter.

Chiclet-tangentbordet från den tidigare modellen har fått ge plats åt en mekanisk modell (Cherry MX-switchar, RGB-belysning för individuella tangenter) - en betydande förbättring. Användare som inte är vana vid ett sådant tangentbord kommer att upptäcka en ny skrivupplevelse.

Den matta 16-tumsskärmen (QHD+, IPS, 240 Hz, G-Sync, sRGB) i ett arbetsvänligt 16:10-format ger ett bra intryck överlag. En Thunderbolt 4-port säkerställer expansionsmöjligheter (extern GPU, dockningslösning, skärm), men stöder inte Power Delivery. Batteritiderna är inte heller imponerande.

The Aorus 15X ASF är ett alternativ med betydligt bättre löptider. Den erbjuder samma grafikprestanda som X20, men mindre processorkraft.

Pris och tillgänglighet

Den granskade konfigurationen av Medion Erazer Major X20 finns i Medions webbutik till ett pris på strax under 2 500 euro, men är för närvarande slutsåld. Tillgängligheten av modellen verkar för närvarande vara begränsad utanför Tyskland.
