If what you're after is a compact and lightweight large format business tablet that can remained powered all day, the Toshiba Portege z20t might be right for you. However, if you perform labor intensive tasks at work, then you'd probably be better suited buying one of the competing hybrids. That's not to say this isn't a solid device (it is), but you're already making a sacrifice buying something with a Core M chip, you shouldn't have to sacrifice further by buying a hybrid whose Core M chip isn't on par with similarly-specced devices.

All in all, Toshiba's Portege Z20t is a finely crafted 2-in-1 device with excellent battery life. Its Core M foundation might not make it the fastest ultrabook on the block, but in combination with a speedy solid state drive, there's sufficient power to tackle a variety of productivity chores.

The Toshiba Portege Z20t-B2112 is a good detachable hybrid ultrabook and tablet, with a slim, fanless design, and a docking keyboard that lets you use the system as a laptop, or to take it on the go as a tablet. The decision to include an Intel Core M processor provides middling performance, but excellent long battery life, making it a good pick for anyone who needs the freedom to forget their charger for a full day or longer. Unfortunately, that performance will slow down some workers, and in terms of sheer performance, you'd do better with something like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, or the Editors' Choice Dell Latitude 14 7000 Series (E7450).

Its duo of responsive styluses, rich full-HD display and bevy of ports make it easy to get work done in tablet mode, and its detachable keyboard dock gives it a snappy set of keys and stellar battery life when used as a laptop.

Toshiba’s alternative to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a solid competitor, offering a lovely screen and a battery that performs beautifully. Some might find that keyboard and mouse a little too shallow, but with three mouse types and a keyboard that you can get used to, these are cons that will quickly fade to the back of the mind.

Toshiba told us it will be releasing a consumer version of this product eventually, but that it will be glossy as that is what consumers prefer. We think that the anti-glare display of this tablet is what makes it so desirable.
