Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) utmärker sig i vårt test med en fantastisk Super AMOLED-skärm som kan bli riktigt ljusstark, har extremt exakt färgåtergivning och stabila betraktningsvinklar. Dessutom har den bra kontrast tack vare den perfekta svärtan som är typisk för OLED-skärmar. Totalt sett är det en skärm som inte har någon like i det här prisskiktet.

Vi var inte lika imponerade av Samsungs egna mittenskikts-processor. Exynos 7885 visade upp flera svagheter när den fick hantera vardagliga arbetsuppgifter i vårt test. Prestandan hos Samsungs SoC kan inte mäta sig med konkurrensen från Qualcomm. Honor 8X utrustad med nya HiSilicon Kirin 710 erbjuder också mer konsekvent vardagsprestanda.

Galaxy A7:s (2018) galjonsfigur är trippelkameran, som är mycket mångsidig och tar bilder med skaplig kvalitet. Ultra-vidvinkeln och Live Focus-funktionen ger användaren intressanta val även om den sistnämnda funktionen ibland gjorde oss besvikna.

Precis som med Honor 8X undrar vi varför Samsung har valt att utrusta en modell från 2018 med en gammal microUSB-standard. Det känns ologist, särskilt med tanke på att Galaxy A5 från 2017 kom med en USB Typ C-port.

Om du älskar skärmar och letar efter en lämplig enhet i mittenskikts-segmentet kommer du inte undan Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018). 

Det finns många intressanta alternativ i mittenskikts-segmentet. Till exempel den kraftfulla Pocophone F1 eller den betydligt billigare mästaren av pris/prestanda-optimering: Xiaomi Mi A2. Om priset för Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) går ned en aning kan dess utmärkta skärm och vidvinkelskamera ändå göra den till ett värt alternativ.
