Är en billigare skärm ett bättre val!? Razer har försökt skapa den ultimata maskinen för gamers på resande fot. Resultatet är nya Razer Blade Stealth. Den har många goda kvaliteter, exempelvis en kraftfull GPU, men vi var inte nöjda med 4K-skärmen. Processorn kunde dessutom presterat bättre.

Display response times show how fast the screen is able to change from one color to the next. Slow response times can lead to afterimages and can cause moving objects to appear blurry (ghosting). Gamers of fast-paced 3D titles should pay special attention to fast response times.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Razer Blade Stealth lyckas uppnå balans: Den är inte bara ultrakompakt; Razers ultrabook är dessutom riktigt kraftfull. Detta gäller dock bara GPU-prestandan – vi var inte nöjda med hur processorn presterade i modellen med ett Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q. 

Att begränsa CPU-prestandan var förstås ett medvetet val från Razers sida. Begränsningen på 15 W är tänkt att hålla värme- och ljudnivåerna låga, vilket man också lyckas med. Men vi förstår inte varför processorn är låst till 15W även när GPU:n inte är aktiv.

En annan viktig skillnad med den här modellen jämfört med iGPU-varianten av Razer Blade Stealth är 4K UHD-skärmen. Tyvärr upplevde vi att kvaliteten var en besvikelse. Det är inte en dålig skärm, men jämfört med FHD-skärmen från iGPU-varianten av Razer Blade har den inga andra fördelar utöver en högre upplösning och tryckkänslighet. På en del områden är det tvärtom: Den billigare FHD-skärmen är märkbart mer ljusstark än 4K-skärmen. Den högupplösta skärmen resulterar i ytterligare en nackdel: den har mycket högre energiförbrukning. Detta leder till kort batteritid, vilket är synd på en såpass liten laptop. Sist men inte minst måste vi återigen klaga på den korta standardgarantin som bara är på ett år.

Trots totalt sett lyxiga specifikationer kan vi inte rekommendera den här specifika varianten av Razer Blade Stealth. Den största anledningen är den medelmåttiga 4K-skärmen.

Därför kan vi inte rekommendera Razer Blade Stealth 13 – men det gäller bara varianten med 4K-skärm. Intresserade köpare bör istället ta en titt på FHD-varianten som använder samma GeForce GTX GPU. Den är billigare och kombinerar de bästa egenskaperna från Razer Blade Stealth med prestandan från en dedikerad GPU. Med lägre upplösning på skärmen bör den dessutom ha bättre batteritid.
