Intel marknadsför en stabil klockfrekvens på 5 GHz Turbo på alla kärnor vid belastning. Vi utvärderar i detalj huruvida detta stämmer i praktiken, särskilt med tanke på att AMD i vissa fall hade problem med att få sin Ryzen 3000-serie att uppnå de angivna klockfrekvenserna.

Efter att AMD höjt ribban med sina nya Ryzen-processorer fick Intel följa efter. Tyvärr rör det sig bara om en liten uppgradering från Intel Core i9-9900K. Vi väntar fortfarande på en helt ny arkitektur och övergången till 10nm fördröjs om och om igen. Å ena sidan har Intel lyckats öka prestandan med Core i9-9900KS, å andra sidan har energiförbrukningen försämrats. Den har fortfarande 8 kärnor och 16 trådar trots att AMD har gått om Core i9-9900KS när det kommer till multitrådad prestanda med sina 16 kärnor och 32 trådar. Men i realiteten drar inte spel nytta av fler än 8 kärnor, även om detta kan komma att ändras i framtiden.

Totalt sett levererar Intel Core i9-9900KS riktigt bra prestanda. Processorn bemästrar både spel och applikationer utan problem. För spel är den fortfarande det främsta alternativet om du bara ser till prestandajämförelserna. Men Intel har definitivt tappat en del mark under året jämfört med AMD. För att undvika att hamna efter behövs ett större steg framåt i prestanda med tanke på att Zen 3 kommer släppas någon gång under nästa år.

Att uppgradera till Intel Core i9-9900KS är bara värt det om du redan har motsvarande stöd för den.

I den direkta jämförelsen får Intels chip möta AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, som också har 8 kärnor och 16 trådar men som för tillfället kostar ca 1.500 kronor mindre än Intels toppmodell. Därmed kan vi säga att förhållandet mellan pris och prestanda inte riktigt stämmer här då Intel Core i9-9900KS kostar minst 1.000 kronor för mycket.
