Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The display backlight flickers at 100 Hz (Likely utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 30 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting.

The frequency of 100 Hz is very low, so the flickering may cause eyestrain and headaches after extended use.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8813 (minimum: 43 - maximum: 142900) Hz was measured.

ProBook 645 G4 är en mittenskikts-laptop riktad åt företag. Här har HP använt ett helt nytt hölje. Den som förväntar sig dyra material kommer att bli besviken: Höljet är helt och hållet gjort av plast. Det är bara toppskikts-enheter såsom EliteBook 745 G5 som har ett hölje i metall.

Datorn kommer med en Raven Ridge-APU från AMD, som har mer än tillräckligt med prestanda för alla aktuella applikationer. CPU-delen av denna APU levererar samma nivå av prestanda som Intel-baserade motsvarigheter.

Den inbyggda GPU:n har mer prestanda än Intels lösning (UHD Graphics 620) och kan köra många spel med smidig bilduppdatering. Men de flesta moderna spel går bara att spela i låg upplösning och med låga inställningar. HP utnyttjar tyvärr inte GPU:n till 100% eftersom systemet körs i enkelkanals-läge. Vi rekommenderar att installera en andra RAM-modul för att möjliggöra dualkanals-läge.

En NVMe SSD sörjer för ett riktigt responsivt system. Att byta ut SSD-enheten är möjligt. Men för att göra det behöver du ta bort bottenplattan. Utöver en M.2-2280 SSD går det även att installera en 2.5 tums hårddisk i ProBook 645 G4. Vår recensionsenhet hade inte ett LTE-modem. Men med det sagt så går det lätt att installera ett LTE-modem efter köp. Tangentbordet lämnade ett riktigt positivt intryck. Det passar bra för genomsnittligt skrivande. Tyvärr är det inte bakgrundsbelyst, men bakgrundsbelysning finns som ett extra tillval.

ProBook visar upp nackdelar som en företagslaptop inte bör ha.

Den matta IPS-skärmen har bra betraktningsvinklar. Men den har också låg ljusstyrka och ett dåligt kontrastförhållande. En laptop som kostar 9.000 - 10.000 kronor bör erbjuda mer än så. Batteritiden är dålig. I vårt realistiska WiFi-test så höll ProBook mindre än fem timmar. Den borde ha klarat sig minst 2 - 3 timmar längre.
