Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Asus lyckas med att erbjuda en lockande fortsättning på sin ZenFone-serie med ZenFone 4. Dess design är elegant men ändå enkel och dess systemprestanda övertygade oss. Den har imponerande nätverkshastigheter med LTE Cat 13 och bra WLAN-prestanda. Tillsammans med den nya Snapdragon CPU:n så har Bluetooth uppdaterats till senaste versionen och lokalisering fungerar väldigt bra. Den uppgraderade GPU:n kastar ZenFone 4 framåt i sin kategori och skärmen är väl lämpad för utomhusbruk. Tyvärr använder den PWM.

Med ZenFone 4 erbjuder Asus en konkurrenskraftigt utrustad smartphone som knappt visade några brister alls i våra tester.

På det hela taget lämnar ZenFone 4 väldigt lite rum för giltig kritik. Tyvärr så håller sig dess USB-port till USB 2.0-standarden och den inkluderade laddaren är inte kraftfull nog för att kunna utnyttja den snabbladdnings-teknik som telefonen marknadsförs med. Vi fick ett delat intryck av dual-lins kameran: Även om huvudkameran är utmärkt så håller inte den sekundära linsen jämförelsevis och detta påminner om en av nackdelarna hos LG G5. Kameran kan utan tvekan producera utmärkta foton, men dess sekundära lins förblir eventuellt oanvänd.

ZenFone 4 riktar sig också till musikentusiaster med funktioner som högupplöst ljud, DTS och aptX HD, för att inte tala om den inbyggda hörlursutgången. För ca 5 000 SEK (€500) kan dess pris verka aningen högt men vi rekommenderar ändå ZenFone 4 starkt.
