Återigen gör Apples Retina 5K-iMac ett mycket gott intryck. Datorn har ett högkvalitativt chassi och en elegant design. De nya inmatningsenheterna imponerar och har äntligen försetts med laddningsbara batterier. Det verkliga blickfånget är däremot fortfarande den högupplösta skärmen, som briljerar med utmärkt färgreproduktion.

Inne i systemet har Apple använt en kombination av stationära och bärbara komponenter, som garanterar anständig systemprestanda. Tyvärr har Apple minskat den interna SSD-lagringen i FusionDrive från 128 GB till 24 GB. Processorns prestanda håller en anständig nivå och grafikkortet räcker för moderna spel, även om den ålderstigna kretsen påverkar intrycket något. Om du tänkt använda din iMac främst för spel finns både billigare och snabbare alternativ. Vad gäller värme och ljudnivå finns inget att kritisera. Fläkten är oftast avaktiverad under normalt bruk.

Det finns knappast någon anledning till att uppgradera från den förra versionen av 5K Retina iMac. CPU- och GPU-prestanda är likartade, och den bredare färgrymden är bara viktig för en liten grupp av användare.

Sammanfattningsvis är Apples iMac 5K Retina en bra produkt, men priset är högt. Instegsmodellen börjar på knappt 20 000 kr, men den kan enkelt konfigureras för det dubbla och mer därtill.
