När Oneplus Pad kom för två år sedan var det en surfplatta med hög prestanda och bra skärm till ett attraktivt pris. Nu är vi inne på tredje generationen och vi har fått mer av allt. Ja, inklusive priset. Om vi börjar med skärmen var den 11,61 tum i den första Oneplus Pad, 12,1 tum i Pad 2, och nu 13,2 tum i Pad 3. Formatet är fortsatt detsamma, 7:5-proportion, men skärmupplösningen har ökat snabbare än storleken så pixeltätheten är större på Oneplus Pad 3 än på föregående plattor. Större skärm är en generell trend för surfplattor, och eftersom en stor skärm är just det som särskiljer dem från mobiler finns det ju en logik i det. Men med det större formatet följer också ökad vikt. Oneplus Pad 3 väger 675 gram. Inte ovanligt mycket för en platta i dess storlek, men fortfarande drygt 125 gram mer än första Oneplus Pad, och tillräckligt mycket för att det ska bli jobbigt i längden att hålla i den om du tittar på film eller spelar spel.

If you are in the market for a high-end tablet and want the most bang for your buck, then the OnePlus Pad 3 is a complete no-brainer. It is not perfect. The lack of a fingerprint scanner in this premium device is a total surprise – face unlock exists, but is not really secure. And there will be those who will be puzzled at the absence of a 5G variant, something that is becoming a bit of a given even in mid-segment tablets (the USD 175 Redmi Pad 2 comes with cellular connectivity). But even then, the spec sheet and overall performance of the OnePlus Pad 3 are unmatched not just at its price, but a comfortable Rs 10,000 – Rs 15,000 above it as well. It makes no sense to settle for any other tablet unless you are getting into iPad Air and Pro land…and perhaps not even then. And that perhaps sums it up best: OnePlus might have finally done what other brands have been unable to do: make an Android tablet that comfortably challenges Apple’s epic iPad series.

A pleasing display, easy-to-navigate OS, speedy processing, excellent battery life, and decent tablet cameras are just some of the key features. Its faults are few (so-so speakers, only 3 years of OS updates, and no IP rating). If those things aren't a problem for you, this tablet is a great buy that'll feel value-packed for its price. As for performance compared to the iPad Pro, the OnePlus Pad 3 holds its own and could truly compete in terms of speed, battery life, and charging. The iPad Pro's OLED display still wins on contrast, color depth, and HDR performance. And, due to some creative app limitations on Android, professional content creators would probably prefer the iPad Pro. But for the cheaper price, you'd do well to pick up the OnePlus Pad 3 if content creation, the Apple ecosystem, and an OLED display don't matter to you.

I am very impressed with the OnePlus Pad 3, and it has been a joy to use it for the duration of this review. It is a powerful tablet and ticks all the boxes that a typical tablet customer could want. The only time I really came up against any issues it was not due to the OnePlus Pad 3 but down to the Android Software. Before I even received the OnePlus Pad 3, I knew it was going to be one of my favorite tablets. Why? Because of what OnePlus and OPPO have been doing with software lately. It’s actually priced in line with Samsung’s FE tablets, which is incredible. If you’re not embedded in the Samsung ecosystem, then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get the OnePlus Pad 3, unless you just don’t need a tablet.

My main issue was the trackpad — though roomy, it often disrupted productivity by making text selection difficult and frequently triggered unintended shortcuts, like accidental screenshots. The improved software update policy also makes it more future-proof. Software limitations prevent it from being a true laptop replacement or productivity powerhouse, but then again, few tablets are.

I mentioned the OnePlus Pad 3 came closer than any other tablet to convincing me that I’d use one for productivity tasks, but it still falls short of the mark. I don’t think it’s a problem that can be solved for me. If you absolutely need a large, heavy tablet that can function as a quasi-laptop when you need it and a gigantic screen entertainment center when you don’t, have at it, because OnePlus has done an excellent job. However, for the rest of us, I’d still look towards more inexpensive options, like the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro, to get plenty of use for a lot less money. I can't fault the hardware of the OnePlux Pad 3. It's an excellent performer with a gorgeous display and fantastic battery life. However, it's tough to know who should buy one. If you're in the market for an Android tablet that can do everything and serve as a laptop replacement, it's a good choice.

The OnePlus Pad 3 is one of the best Android tablets available today. That’s $200 less than Apple’s 256GB iPad Air 13 and $400 less than Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. The OnePlus Pad 3 is not perfect, however. The cameras don’t live up to the competition, and the optional Smart Keyboard isn’t backlit. But ultimately, these are minor niggles. With the Pad 3, OnePlus has managed to give Samsung a run for its money by making a competitive and arguably better tablet for less. For a limited time, when you preorder the OnePlus Pad 3, you can get up to two free gifts in either the Keyboard, Stylo, or Folio, which softens the blow of the keyboard not shipping in the box, but seriously — this is a message to all "productivity tablet" makers: it's not a productivity tablet if the keyboard isn't in the box.

It’s hard to think of anything more I’d want from an Android tablet than this, regardless of price. The OnePlus Pad 3 is brilliantly well-rounded, with the sort of performance to handle just about any task, top-tier accessories that make it a proper productivity machine, and battery life that’s basically unrivalled. You could argue an OLED display would be the icing on the cake, but I honestly don’t feel it’s needed here. The Pad 3’s screen is a stunner in every respect. It’s as slim and easy on the eyes as an iPad Air, and a lot more wallet-friendly than any of Samsung’s big screen Android slates. For some creative types it’ll be the operating system that’s the limiting factor, with fewer apps than Apple. But if Android meets your needs and you want a tablet that can truly do it all, look no further.

It’s not quite outpacing the M3 iPad Air, but it’s not that far off either – and we’ve never seen that from an Android tablet before. Throw in great software tailored to the tablet experience, with handy additions like the ability to remotely access your Mac from the tablet, and you’ve got a remarkably impressive tablet, considering its £529/$699 price tag. For most people, this is the best Android tablet to buy.

If you're due for a tablet upgrade, the OnePlus Pad 3 brings a lot to the table for $1,000. That's obviously not cheap, but I think this device brings good value for what you're paying for. The light weight and thin design make this very comfortable to hold for long sessions in front of the screen. The display is gorgeous and vast. And you have a battery that just won't quit. The stylus attaches magnetically to the tablet. My complaints about the device are minor/common to nearly every tablet (the bezels are a little thick around the screen, the stylus doesn't stay securely attached) but overall, the pain points are so few I really had to think hard about what I don't like about this tablet because there's so much I DO like.
