Recension: Nokia G50 - Mittenskiktstelefon med uppdateringar i 3 år

Väska och utrustning - Chic med mycket minne

Om du jämför Nokia G50 med den något dyrare Nokia X10ligger de enda skillnaderna i detaljerna: en skärm med lägre upplösning i G50, samt avsaknaden av IP-certifiering och ett makroobjektiv. Nokia X10 är lite mindre, men väger lika mycket som G50, med ett mindre batteri.

Plasthöljet på baksidan finns i bländande blått eller rosé. Designen är tilltalande och ovanlig med den runda kameramodulen. Stabiliteten är hyfsad. Nokia G50 är en ganska stor smartphone och dessutom lite tyngre än jämförbara enheter.

En variant med 64 GB finns också tillgänglig, men endast modellen med 128 GB masslagring och 4 GB RAM är för närvarande tillgänglig i Centraleuropa. Officiellt kostar enheten strax under 270 euro (~304 dollar). För dessa pengar får du en USB-C-port, en 3,5 mm ljudport, NFC och två SIM-kortplatser, varav en även kan användas som microSD-läsare. Vi testade läsarens hastighet med vårt referenskort Angelbird V60. Den är i nivå med klassen, men sticker inte ut från andra enheter

Kommunikation, programvara och drift - 5G i Nokia G50

Nokia G50 kan hålla jämna steg med andra smarttelefoner i denna prisklass när det gäller Wi-Fi-hastighet och ger tillräckligt snabbt internet för daglig användning tack vare Wi-Fi 5. 5G är ännu inte en självklarhet i denna prisklass, men Nokias G50 kan leverera. Smartphonen räcker till för 4G-frekvenser, men det är helt klart ingen världstelefon som kan användas överallt.

Nokias G50 är en del av Android-One-programmet, som gör uppdateringar för operativsystemet särskilt enkla genom att hålla sig ganska nära Googles Vanilla Android. På så sätt kan Nokia garantera 2 års uppdateringar av operativsystemet och 3 års säkerhetsuppdateringar även för den relativt billiga smarttelefonen. Perioderna gäller från och med G50:s marknadsintroduktion. Säkerhetsuppdateringarna på vår testenhet är från oktober 2021 och därmed ganska aktuella vid testtillfället

En dedikerad Google Assistant-knapp finns på höljets vänstra sida, och en fingeravtryckssensor är integrerad i standby-knappen till höger. Den fungerar tillförlitligt och ganska snabbt

G50 har inte ZEISS-märket på kameran, vilket de dyrare Nokia X-modellerna har, men de tekniska specifikationerna för kamerorna är i övrigt ganska lika dem för Nokia X-modellerna Nokia X10. En huvudkamera på 48 megapixel, som samlar in mer ljus om så önskas tack vare pixel binning, men som sedan bara tar bilder på 12 megapixel. Dessutom finns det en 5 MP vidvinkelobjektiv och en 2 MP djupsensor som hjälper till. Det finns dock ingen makrokamera i G50

Huvudkameran tar passabla bilder, men de ser ganska gryniga ut i detaljerna och ibland tydligt urtvättade. I svagt ljus och höga kontraster saknas det dynamik i de mörka områdena, men detaljerna är ändå ganska skarpa. En vidvinkelkamera finns också ombord; den räcker för ögonblicksbilder, men du bör inte förstora bilderna för mycket

Frontkameran tar användbara selfies i bra ljus, där vissa detaljer fortfarande syns.

Skärm - IPS-skärm med låg upplösning

IPS-skärmen med en utökad 720p-upplösning kommer förmodligen inte att vara mästare när det gäller ljusstyrka eller färgåtergivning enligt våra testresultat, men det finns en Redmi Note 10S med sin Full HD AMOLED-skärm.

Skärmen på Nokias G50 gör dock också upp en bra kamp. Den är hyfsat ljusstark med 525 cd/m² när så önskas och erbjuder även en ganska bra svartnivå, vilket i sin tur höjer kontrastförhållandet till en hög nivå.

Det är också glädjande att vi endast märker PWM vid mycket låg ljusstyrka med en så hög frekvens att det inte borde orsaka några problem för någon

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The frequency of 2358000 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 52 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 21103 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Prestanda, utsläpp och batteritid - grafikprestanda sjunker

Snapdragon 480 återfinns i många Nokia-enheter, vilket förmodligen beror på chipbristen: Tillverkaren har helt enkelt säkrat stora mängder av den ganska universellt användbara SoC:n. I Nokias G50 levererar den faktiskt också lämplig beräkningskraft för prisklassen, men den hamnar bakom jämförbara enheter när det gäller grafikprestanda, med en delvis lägre upplösning på skärmen. Användare som spelar mycket och vill ha så mycket kraft som möjligt för sina pengar bör alltså leta på annat håll.

Lyckligtvis är den maximala temperaturökningen ganska låg: 36,6 °C (97,9 °F) som absolut högsta temperatur är något märkbart, men inte problematiskt. Monohögtalaren i Nokias G50 är ganska högljudd i vårt test, men ljudet är ganska dåligt med en brist på låga mellanregister och dundrande höga toner vid höga volymer. Åtminstone kan alla aktuella codecs inklusive aptX Adaptive användas via Bluetooth

Nokias G50 levereras med ett batteri på 5 000 mAh, vilket finns i många enheter i den här prisklassen. Vad telefonen får ut av sitt batteri i form av drifttider är mediokert jämfört med andra enheter. 16:12 timmar i vårt WLAN-test är dock fortfarande mycket lämpligt för daglig användning och bör även räcka till 2 arbetsdagar med normal användning. Smartphonen kan laddas med maximalt 10 watt, vilket innebär att laddningsprocessen ibland tar över 2 timmar

Höljet på Nokias G50 är snyggt designat och ganska robust, det måste man ge finländarna. Samtidigt är smarttelefonens snabba internet och 5G-kapacitet övertygande.

Nokias G50 är en solid mellanklass-smartphone som kan stanna hos användaren lite längre tack vare uppdateringslöftet.

Smartphonen släpar dock efter jämförbara telefoner i grafikberäkningar. Nokia G50 är relativt tung och batteriet håller inte riktigt lika länge som andra smartphones i prisklassen. Kameran är inte riktigt övertygande på grund av suddiga detaljer och grov ytteckning.

På det hela taget levererar Nokia en solid, relativt billig mellanklass-enhet med 5G, men den står lite i skuggan av konkurrenterna: Redmi Note 10S erbjuder inte 5G, men den har en mycket finare skärm med AMOLED-teknik och Full HD.
