HP ProBook 440 G9 recension: Effektiv Core i7-1255U bärbar dator utan glans

Det viktigaste är att det är säkert. HP ProBook 440 G9 är stabil, lätt att stuva undan tack vare det kompakta 14-tums chassit och på intet sätt underkraftig - den är en mycket enkel och elegant dator. Den erbjuder nödvändig utrustning för mobilt arbete, lämnar gott om utrymme för expansion och erbjuder en hel rad säkerhetsfunktioner. Vår granskning visar aspekter där ProBook 440 G9 utmärker sig.

HP ProBook 440 G9 som vi testade har många välbekanta funktioner. Framför allt verkar det yttre nästan oförändrat jämfört med föregångaren, denHP ProBook 440 G8. Mer information om chassit och inmatningsenheterna finns i ProBook 440 G8:s recension som länkats tidigare, men vi kommer bara att nämna dem i förbigående här.

En IPS-panel är nu installerad istället för en VA-panel, även om våra mätningar knappast kan väcka någon entusiasm.

Det är dock inte allt. HP lovar främst en snabb prestanda, låga utsläpp även vid hög belastning och mycket säkerhet för den lagrade datan. Små och medelstora företag köper framför allt extra säkerhetsfunktioner med ProBook, som den egna IT-avdelningen inte kan ta över. Annars har företagen också valmöjligheter bland ännu kraftfullare bärbara datorer för drygt 1 000 euro, t.ex Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G4.

I testet var ProBook 440 G9 med Intel Core i7-1255U, 16 GB RAM och 512 GB M.2 SSD visar var förbättringarna eller de nya svagheterna ligger jämfört med föregångaren, denProBook 440 G8 eller med den version av ProBook med AMD-processor.

Väska och utrustning: Begränsat utbud av portar för ProBook

ProBook 440 G9:s chassi har ett lock och en tangentbordsram i aluminium och är stabilt och vridningsbeständigt. Det verkar också vara exakt tillverkat och sparar på alla visuella anmärkningar.

Urvalet av portar är begränsat. Thunderbolt eller en SD-kortläsare saknas helt och hållet, medan LAN-porten endast når 1 Gbit/s. Endast USB Type-C når åtminstone upp till 10 Gbit/s. Som ett grundläggande urval är det okej.

En RAM-plats och en plats för en andra M.2 SSD eller en WWAN-modul är fortfarande lediga inuti. Den primära SSD:n, batteriet, WLAN-modulen och hela arbetsminnet är utbytbara. Att komma åt innandömet liknar andra bärbara datorer från HP och kan åstadkommas nästan utan ansträngning - endast fem exponerade skruvar måste avlägsnas.

En stor fördel med ProBook är dess programvaruutbud. HP tillhandahåller en hel rad program som alltid säkerställer uppdaterade drivrutiner och kan upptäcka olika programvarukonflikter. HP Wolf Security är ett omfattande säkerhetspaket. I princip ingår allt från skydd mot skadlig kod via en inbyggd sandlådewebbläsare till skyddad hårdvara som hjälper till att återställa det ursprungliga systemet efter en attack. Den tillhörande licensen måste förnyas efter ett år.

Tack vare Wi-Fi 6E är dataöverföringen mycket snabb även vid stora datamängder. Om avståndet till routern är tillräckligt litet skulle till och med LAN-kabeln vara långsammare. Skillnaden är enorm, särskilt i jämförelse med HP ProBook 445 G8 med en AMD-processor.

Det bakgrundsbelysta tangentbordet med två nivåer är inte särskilt anmärkningsvärt. Det är lämpligt för snabbt skrivande men är inte bättre än de flesta chiclet-tangentbord.

Webbkameran övertygar med bra upplysning av även extremt mörka scener. Bildbruset förblir också hyfsat, medan den övergripande bildkvaliteten är svag på webbkameran i 720p. Färgavvikelser förekommer men är inte särskilt uttalade. En mikrofon med dubbla arrayer spelar alltid in ljudet i hyfsad kvalitet och relativt konstant volym, men det låter burkigt. Detta är dock fullt tillräckligt för videotelefoni på språng.

Dessutom är en fysisk slutare installerad för att täcka linsen. Bredvid webbkameran finns också en infraröd kamera för upplåsning via ansiktsigenkänning. Den fungerar felfritt och borde göra fingeravtrycksläsaren något överflödig.

ProBook 440 G9 ger en bild som är tillräcklig för att skriva, läsa och arbeta. Full HD-upplösningen på en 14-tums diagonal ger detaljerade bilder. Dessa är dock varken särskilt färgintensiva eller särskilt ljusstarka. Färgpaletten är på sin höjd tillräcklig för korrekt visning av bilder och grafik, men skulle redan vid enkel bildredigering bli överbelastad.

Ljusstyrkan på strax under 250 cd/m² möjliggör alltid god läsbarhet inomhus så länge inget direkt ljus faller på arbetsstationen. Bakgrundsbelysningen reduceras till ett minimum i batteriläget, så text kan bara läsas tillräckligt bra på en skuggig plats, särskilt utomhus. Däremot är skärmens innehåll nästan dolt i solljus.

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

Prestanda: ProBook 440 G9 välutrustad med Core i7

The Intel Alder Lake Core i7-1255Uär en framträdande processor när man tittar på hårdvaran. Dessutom finns det tillräckligt med arbetsminne på 16 GB och en hyfsat stor 512 GB SSD. RAM-minnet är dock fortfarande DDR4. SSD:n körs med PCIe 3.0-hastigheter.

Ingetdera kommer att sakta ner processorn, vilket säkerställer att alla uppgifter - även de som utförs parallellt - behandlas snabbt. En dGPU är helt utelämnad. The Intel Iris Xe 96EUs hanterar mindre krävande grafiska applikationer mycket bra. Den är dock för svag för spel eller videorendering.

Processor

TheIntel Core i7-1255U skyggar inte för krävande uppgifter. Två prestandakärnor och åtta effektivitetskärnor samt tolv trådar garanterar hög beräkningskraft.

HP har också beviljat processorn i ProBook 440 G9 en högre strömförbrukning än vad som är standard. Medan t.ex HP ProBook 450 G9 tillåts 15 W under en längre period, körs den identiska CPU:n med 24 W här. Under en bråkdel av en sekund får den till och med förbruka 51 W och inte bara 39 W som i den större modellen. Denna momentana ökning av effekten är ansvarig för processorns tydliga fördelar i riktmärken som Cinebench R15 multi-core loop-testet.

Å andra sidan är strömförbrukningen begränsad till 12 W (i 28 sekunder) och 17 W (i 2,44 ms) i batteriläge.

Detta resulterar i prestanda som konsekvent ligger över ProBook 450:s prestanda i våra CPU-benchmarks. Bärbara datorer som är mindre skurna på effektivitet kan dock få ut ännu mer prestanda ur Core i7, som t.ex HP Spectre x360.

Utsläpp och energi: HP ProBook 440 G9: Tyst drift med HP ProBook 440 G9

ProBook är tyst både i batteriläge och när den är ansluten till strömförsörjningen. Den är också mindre krävande under belastning när det gäller energiförbrukning.

Vi observerar endast ett märkbart ljud i bakgrunden, om fläkten slås på vid högre belastning. Hastighetsförändringar är inte obehagligt märkbara.

Uppvärmningen av ytan är inte märkbar vid normal användning. Våra mätningar visar en ökning av yttemperaturen med endast 5 °C jämfört med omgivningen vid låg belastning. Vid maximal belastning är det 15 °C, men bara nära CPU-området. Särskilt handflatorna värms bara något upp.

Strömförbrukningen utan belastning verkar lite för hög. Trots att den har en effektiv CPU och en mindre krävande skärm förbrukas alltid minst 5 W.

För enkla uppgifter, till exempel webbsurfning, behöver Core i7 i ProBook knappast anstränga sig. Detta resulterar i en minst sagt acceptabel drifttid på nästan 6 timmar trots det lilla batteriet.

Konkurrenten med liknande kapacitet klarar dock klart mer i detta avseende. TheLenovo ThinkBook 15 G4 med den något kraftfullare AMD Ryzen 5 5625U kan surfa i mer än 2 timmar längre.

HP ProBook 440 G9 är en bärbar dator för viktiga affärsuppgifter och erbjuder exakt rätt funktioner och inget mer. Med ett stabilt hölje, biometriska inloggningsalternativ och omfattande säkerhetsprogramvara används ProBook 440 G9 väl som arbetsenhet för känsliga data.

Jämfört med föregångaren HP ProBook 440 G8 har beräkningskraften ökat avsevärt tack vare Intel Alder Lake-processorn. Processorn förbrukar dock motsvarande mer ström än i modellen med Intels Tiger Lake -arkitektur. Batteritiden är också lägre - en drifttid på strax under 6 timmar är fortfarande acceptabel, men det är inte mycket jämfört med konkurrenterna med lika små batterier.

Säkerhet för dina egna data, hög hastighet, en behagligt tyst fläkt, men absolut blygsam övrig utrustning kännetecknar HP ProBook 440 G9.

ProBook är som bäst när man skriver, forskar och räknar med siffror. Fläkten är endast sällan hörbar. Utan strömanslutning förblir den bärbara datorn tyst, och uppvärmningen är inte märkbar. Det behagliga tangentbordet gör det möjligt att arbeta exakt och snabbt.

Utöver det har HP skurit ner på nästan alla andra områden. Detta gäller särskilt den låga luminansen och den färgfattiga skärmen trots IPS-panelen. Inte ens att titta på foton är nödvändigtvis en rekommenderad aktivitet. Dessutom gör den reducerade ljusstyrkan i batteriläge det nästan omöjligt att arbeta utomhus.

Dessutom erbjuder webbkameran i 720p precis tillräcklig bildkvalitet för videotelefoni. Bland portarna finns bara de mest nödvändiga. Thunderbolt, kortläsare eller en proprietär dockningsport saknas.

Om säkerhetspaketet är viktigt för det dagliga arbetet är det värt att köpa den stabila och behagligt snabba bärbara företagsdatorn HP ProBook 440 G9. Annars skulle Lenovo ThinkBook 14 G4 erbjuda betydligt mer beräkningskraft och ett mer övertygande helhetspaket. Den Acer Aspire Vero AV14 arbetar också med Intel Core i7-1255U, vilket skulle passa bättre för bland annat kreativt arbete.

Pris och tillgänglighet

HP ProBook 440 G9-5Y3Z3EA som vi testade finns på Cyberport för strax under 1 100 euro. Ingångsvarianten med Core i5-1235U, 8 GB RAM och 256 GB SSD, HP ProBook 440 G9-5Y3Z1EA, finns på Notebooksbilliger för 850 euro.
