If you want better battery life, you’ll want to opt for the more power-efficient display. But this is an easy laptop to recommend for all but budget-conscious consumers.

The EliteBook X gets a lot right. It's beautifully built, mostly very well designed, and it's a genuinely pleasant laptop to use. For a faintly reasonable £1,500, you get a premium-feeling 14-inch laptop that can tackle most applications – and even the occasional game – without breaking a sweat. Frankly, only the battery life disappoints. However, once you start looking at the more luxurious models with OLED panels and upgraded specifications, the value for money starts to wane. As the price rises, it becomes increasingly hard to justify buying an EliteBook X over a more luxurious EliteBook Ultra. You'll want to weigh up the benefits carefully. At the right price, the EliteBook X is a good laptop – almost a great one – but the dizzying number of close relations in HP's portfolio means that it pays to shop around diligently before hitting the buy button.

A laptop that can keep going for two days, or even more, is a wonderful thing to see. The HP EliteBook G1i is intended to be a business machine, but as an Intel-based Copilot+ plus PC it has plenty of NPU power and enough of a GPU to handle most creative tasks, though it will be slower than a discrete chip.

HP:

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.

AMD Radeon 890M: En kraftfull iGPU med RDNA 3+-arkitektur som lanserades i juni 2024.

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Intel Arc 140V: Ett ganska snabbt integrerat grafikkort som vissa Intel Lunar Lake-processorer enligt uppgift använder. 140V har 8 Xe²-arkitekturkärnor som körs i upp till 2 050 MHz och 8 strålspårningsenheter; det är DirectX 12 Ultimate-aktiverat och det stöder också alla moderna videocodecs. Om de senaste läckorna av benchmarkresultat är någon indikation, kommer dess spelprestanda att vara något bättre än GeForce MX570.

AMD Strix Halo/Point (Zen 5/5c, Ryzen AI 300):

Ryzen AI 9 HX 375: En kraftfull processor i Strix Point-familjen som lanserades utan större fanfar i juli 2024. Ryzen AI 9-serien APU är utrustad med 12 CPU-kärnor tillsammans med 16 CU RDNA 3.5 Radeon 890M-grafikkort och 55 TOPS XDNA 2 neurala motor. Det finns inget PCIe 5-stöd här och 8 av CPU-kärnorna är långsammare än de andra 4.

Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360: En relativt kraftfull processor i Strix Point-familjen som ska debutera i oktober 2024.
