The new Area-51 laptop feels like Alienware in a way that its most recent gaming PCs like its mammoth Area-51 desktop have not. The gaming laptop is extra: extra glowy, extra clicky, and all too over the top. The bottom panel sports a massive window where you can peer directly at the fan components. The only way you’d catch a glimpse of the rotating fans and the tint of RGB is if you lift up your laptop as if you were looking for a quarter that rolled under your dresser. The Razer Blade 18 has a similar portal on its undercarriage. As pointless as that is on either laptop, for the ever-extra Dell-owned Alienware, it seems more on point.

Yes, it’s a good amount of money — but it’s competitively priced with other high-end gaming laptops with similar hardware, and you also get an amazing package. I love having a mechanical keyboard in a laptop. If you’re looking for a capable PC with the latest high-end hardware and this fits your budget, you’ll be happy with this machine. It’s excellent. But not everything is for everyone! Be sure to consider what type of display you want — if you want an OLED screen, the HP Omen Max 16 may be a better pick. That greenish “Liquid Teal” may give some people pause, too — I like the look, but I imagine it’s not everyone’s style. It’d be nice if Dell offered multiple color options for this laptop.

90% This Premium Gaming Laptop Might Just Be My New Favorite

In my opinion, the Alienware 16 Area-51 (2025) has very few faults. Those small flaws include the bulky, weighty build (which I really didn't mind!), the fan noise, the fairly dismal battery life, and the lack of an OLED display option. Those small things aside, the Area-51 outperformed most gaming laptops I've seen to date, which is why it's at the top of my list for the price range. If you're looking for beautiful graphics on a large display, two of the best gaming laptop CPUs and GPUs you can get, and enough power to eke out impressively high frame rates for resource-heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, you won't want to look elsewhere. Still, this laptop won't be for everyone. Especially if you prefer a slimmer, less powerful option for travel purposes.

Despite some earned criticism, I can't help but love the Alienware 16 Area-51. It's not a perfect laptop by any means, with a disappointing display, so-so keyboard, and performance just a touch behind the competition. But it's also a laptop that swings big in a way few devices do, and it manages success in the process. This isn't the right laptop for all or even most buyers, but if you've been caught up in the allure of Alienware trying something different, you won't be disappointed with the 16 Area-51.

There’s no denying that the Alienware 16 Area-51 is a fantastic gaming laptop that delivers uncompromising RTX 50-series performance. On top of that, it’s also a beautiful-looking machine with elegant curves and tasty RGB lighting. Yes, it’s heavy and expensive, but it’s also freakin’ awesome! If you want a gaming laptop offering comparable performance but with an OLED panel, the Legion Go 7i Pro or HP Omen Max 16 are great, if expensive, alternatives. But if you like what I have to say about Alienware’s gaming notebook and can stomach its price, then you won’t go wrong with this purchase. The Alienware 16 Area-51 comes with my highest recommendation.

The Alienware 16 Area-51 is a near-perfect gaming laptop, boasting incredible performance, a bright 16-inch display, a great keyboard, strong speakers, and a beautiful design. But its display can’t beat OLED, and we’ve seen much better battery life numbers elsewhere. A gaming laptop that supports both an OLED panel and significantly better battery life is the Razer Blade 16, although you’ll need to pay about $1,000 more to get it. I’ll pray to Cthulhu for an OLED variant of the Alienware 16 Area-51 in the future, although right now, this gaming laptop is easily one of the best we’ve seen this year, and its price point makes it all the more compelling.

De här grafikkorten levererar bäst 3D-prestanda för bärbara datorer. De kan hantera alla nya spel i hög upplösning och ofta med avancerade inställningar. Däremot är strömförbrukningen hög, så batteritiden blir lidande (med undantag för bärbara datorer med växlingsbar grafik). Som regel hittar man bara de här GPU:erna i större laptops.
