Recension av Schenker XMG Focus 16 laptop: En spelmaskin monterad i Tyskland

En helt ny... ... 16-tums bärbar dator von Schenker har gett sig in i ringen, och denna tillverkare utökar också sin portfölj med en 16-tums 16:10-formatspelare. XMG Focus 16 är utrustad med en Core i7-12700H och en RTX 3060 och syftar till att vinna spelarnas hjärtan. Kan den uppnå dessa mål? Läs vidare för att ta reda på det.

Bärbara datorer från Leipzig finns tillgängliga från den tyska datortillverkaren Schenker. XMG Focus 16 är en bärbar dator med 16-tumsskärm för gaming i mellanklass. Den bärbara datorn är pålitlig, bergfast och har Schenkers varumärkesdesign. Enheten ser lite boxig och okonventionell ut utan att vara alltför iögonfallande. Schenker har utrustat XMG Focus 16 med kraftfull hårdvara och en skärm med ett bildförhållande på 16:10.

Våra konkurrenter har valts ut främst från priskategorin för bärbara datorer för spel i mellanklassen, t.ex Dell G16 7620 ellerLenovo Legion 5 Pro. En tunn bärbar dator för multimedia med liknande specifikationer, denAsus Zenbook Pro 16X, är betydligt smalare än typiska bärbara datorer för spel men erbjuder liknande höga prestandanivåer.

Hölje - svart, box och mycket aluminium

XMG Schenker Focus 16 är svart och vit och bygger på en NP60PNP från Clevo. Både displaylocket - som kan öppnas till en vinkel på 130° - och basens överdel består av svartlackerad aluminium, till skillnad från baslocket som är tillverkat av svart plast. När du öppnar enheten hittar du den typ av tangentbord som vanligtvis finns i många bärbara datorer från Schenker och Clevo. De enskilda tangenterna har vita ramar och svarta skrivytor. Som nästan alla bärbara datorer från Schenker är XMG Focus 16 ganska boxig och enkel i sin utformning, men har en bra byggkvalitet. Vi har en bekväm enhet i våra händer som inte visar några tecken på knarrande och har ett stabilt gångjärn.

Med en vikt på 2,3 kg och en tjocklek på 2,4 cm sticker den bärbara speldatorn inte ut från sina direkta konkurrenter.

Schenker har placerat hamnarna på olika platser runt Focus. Skärmportarna, strömförsörjningsuttaget och en USB-C-port finns på baksidan av den bärbara datorn. Detta säkerställer att kablarna inte är i vägen när du spelar.

Säkerhet

Schenker XMG Focus 16 har en Kensington Security Slot. I övrigt är alla standarder uppfyllda. TPM 2.0 (via Intel PTT) finns ombord.

Extras

Schenker tillhandahåller omfattande dokumentation med alla sina bärbara datorer. I lådan hittade vi en cd med drivrutiner, ett USB-minne med förkonfigurerat Windows och en stor musmatta med XMG-logotypen.

Service

Tretton korsskruvar håller basskyddet stadigt på plats. När dessa skruvar avlägsnas kan täckplåten lätt lyftas av. Inne i den bärbara datorn hittar vi två (redan upptagna) RAM-kortplatser och två M.2-platser (en upptagen). Alla andra delar är fastskruvade men inte limmade.

Garanti

Vilka garantitjänster Schenker erbjuder beror på de individuella val som görs vid köpet av enheten. Grundgarantin gäller i 24 månader och omfattar både hämtning och återlämning samt snabba reparationstjänster under de första sex månaderna.

Inmatningsenheter - långa tangentresor

Tangentbordets laserskrivna bokstäver är lätta att läsa med ett tangentavstånd på nästan 2 mm samt piltangenter i full storlek, RGB-belysning och ett numeriskt tangentbord. På begäran kan Schenker laserdrucka alla tänkbara tangentbordslayouter.

Den bärbara datorns styrplatta är med sina 15 × 9 cm mycket stor. Pinsamt för Schenker: Vid leveransen var styrplattans bandkabel inte korrekt ansluten, vilket innebar att vi till en början kämpade med en styrplatta som inte reagerade. När vi väl hade åtgärdat detta misstag fungerade inmatningsenheten på högsta nivå.

Skärm - 16:10-skärm med QHD+

Med ett bildförhållande på 16:10 är XMG Focus 16-skärmen inte direkt typisk. Även om den erbjuder en hög upplösning på 2560 × 1600 pixlar och en uppdateringsfrekvens på 165 Hz är svarstiden för den här ljusstarka skärmen på 450 cd/m² inte så låg som du skulle förvänta dig av en bärbar dator för spel. Kontrastnivåerna, färgtäckningen, svartnivåerna och belysningen kan beskrivas som bra. Vi kunde inte upptäcka någon ljusblödning.

Den bärbara datorns Schenker gaming-skärm täcker 95 % av sRGB, medan AdobeRGB och DisplayP3 ligger på cirka 70 %. Färgåtergivningen är bra om än inte exakt perfekt. Ett ΔΕ på under 3 skulle vara önskvärt och Focus 16 klarar ett ΔΕ-genomsnitt på 3,65. Således är färgavvikelser ex-works acceptabla. Vår ICC-profil resulterade inte i någon förbättring av färgåtergivningen.

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 19504 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Prestanda - lite över genomsnittet

Precis som alla bärbara datorer från Schenker är XMG Focus 16 också mycket anpassningsbar. Därför är det möjligt att välja RAM-minne, olika hårddiskar och andra alternativ i XMG Focus 16konfiguratorn. Det är för närvarande inte möjligt att välja olika CPU:er och GPU:er. Alla XMG Focus 16-enheter levereras med enIntel Core i7-12700Hoch enNvidia GeForce RTX 3060. Dessutom var vår granskningsenhet utrustad med 2×16 GB DDR4 RAM och en 1 TB Samsung NVMe SSD.

Allt detta innebär att vi har en bärbar dator som klarar de flesta moderna spel. RTX 3060 lyckas dock inte alltid nå över 60 fps vid de högsta grafiska inställningarna och vid enhetens ursprungliga upplösning.

Prestandanivån för Schenkers bärbara datorer ställs in via Control Center 3.0. Här finns fyra alternativ för prestanda: från viskningsläge till prestandaläge. Fläkthastigheter, prestandagränser och måltemperaturer anges här. För den som gillar att ta tag i dessa inställningar erbjuder Control Center också olika alternativ för att justera och övervaka fläkthastigheten.

Detta påverkar i hög grad den bärbara datorns prestanda. I prestandaläget är 140 watt tillgängliga för CPU och GPU. Under testningen observerade vi en dynamisk boost på cirka 25 watt. Enbart processorn kan arbeta på drygt 65 watt. När den körs i whisper-läge eller energisparläge svävar Intel Core i7 och Nvidia RTX 3060:s kombinerade energiförbrukning på cirka 45 watt. På grund av de olika inställningsalternativen för fläkten ökar hårdvarans temperatur betydligt långsammare i energisparläge. På samma sätt uppmätte vi i batteriläge en kombinerad energiförbrukning på cirka 25 watt.

Processor

Intel Core i7-12700Htillhör de mest kraftfulla processorerna från Intels Alder Lake-generation. I Schenker XMG Focus 16 presterar processorn relativt bra utan att nå sina bästa nivåer. På lång sikt klarade den bärbara datorn inte av att bli pressad eftersom prestandan i Cinbench-slingan sjönk med tiden med mer än 100 poäng.

Dessutom visar CPU-poängen att den bärbara datorns i7 för spel ligger i mitten av paketet jämfört med sina konkurrenter. Trots detta presterar den högre än den genomsnittliga prestandan för enIntel Core i7-12700H. 12700H presterar dock som bäst i Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. I ingen bärbar dator i vår databas presterar i7 bättre än den som finns i Legion. Vi fastställde en relativt hög effekt på 105 watt för PL2 i Schenker Laptop men bara 65 watt för PL1.

Den bärbara datorns NVMe-lagring är också en högpresterande lösning. Efter några körningar i DiskSpd-slingan var dock NVMe-SSD:en kraftigt strypad. Detta beteende tyder på dålig värmeavledning. Även om många andra tillverkare har börjat implementera värmekuddar antingen ovanpå eller under SSD-enheterna för att avleda driftvärmen, är detta något som inte kan sägas om Schenkers bärbara dator.
