The Surface Laptop for Business 8th Edition is a specialized machine. If you are a standard consumer, you are likely better off waiting for the Snapdragon X2 models later this summer, which will almost certainly offer better battery life and cooler operation for a lower price. However, if you are in the corporate or government sector and your "office" is often a tray table on an airplane or a busy terminal, this is currently one of the best laptops on the market. I don’t often review business laptops, but I jumped at the chance to test the Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 since I’ve always admired this series. It’s arguably the best one yet, even though this notebook is meant for enterprise. Though I’m impressed by what it offers, it’s hard to recommend this notebook to the average reader I normally write for. You’re better off with something like the 13-inch MacBook Air or MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+, which cost $1,099 and $1,299 (respectively). You’ll get a comparable or better experience for hundreds less. Price aside, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 delivers where it matters. If you’re looking for a dependable business notebook and have the cash for it, you won’t go wrong.

Following a substantial price hike across its entire Surface line, Microsoft has revealed refreshes of the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro for Business. This is the reverse of how the last Surface refresh rolled out, when Microsoft announced the Arm-powered Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7, then launched Intel variants roughly six months later.

There's lots to love on the Microsoft Surface Laptop 8; its battery life is great, the keyboard and touchpad are excellent, the display is bright and beautiful, and you get some privacy, provided no one simply looks over the top of the screen. All in all, it's a solid business machine.

Shave $1,000 or so off of the price tag and I think that I could justify the price of the current Surface Laptop 8 for Business. As it is, this laptop is simply far too expensive to recommend, even to those on a business budget. It’s worth noting that the laptops we’re comparing the Surface Laptop shipped recently, so they too are subject to the inflationary costs of memory and storage that are in play here. Battery life should be roughly the same. But consider this: Dell is launching a Dell XPS 13 with a 13.4-inch OLED screen for as little as $699. I feel like I’ve spent enough words on this laptop. It’s overpriced. Don’t buy it.

Microsoft:

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Intel Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 PTL: Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 är ett integrerat grafikkort i Panther Lake SoC:er med 4 Xe3-kärnor (32 EUs / 512 ALU:er), 4 raytracing-kärnor och en klockfrekvens på upp till 2450 MHz.

Qualcomm Adreno X2-45: Qualcomm Adreno X2-45 är en integrerad grafikprocessor som kommer att ingå i Snapdragon X2 Plus-SoC:er från och med januari 2026.

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.

Intel Arc B390 Panther Lake iGPU: Den mest kraftfulla iGPU:n i Intel Panther Lake SoC-serien med 12 Xe3-kärnor.
