Well, well, well, how do we sum all this up then? In the grand scheme of things, the Aero X16 isn't going to win many accolades here. It's certainly not going to make our best gaming laptop list. It's just not. The crippling effect of that 85 W TGP is rather astonishing. The fact that it can't even keep up with Gigabyte's own cheaper models with lesser GPUs is not exactly ideal, particularly as it's such a key selling point. Now, yes, there is a more modern CPU here, optimized for AI of course (although really comparing those NPUs to a dedicated GPU on AI performance is like sewing with a broken needle: pointless), and yes, there's a higher-resolution screen here too, but is that really enough to justify the absolute confusion ensuing from this cacophony of TGP nonsense? I'm not so sure.

85% Gigabyte Aero X16 review: A creator’s laptop that moonlights as a gamer

So after my time spent with the Aero X16, what’s my verdict? Honestly, it feels like a laptop that knows what it wants to be, even if it doesn’t nail everything. Gigabyte clearly built this with creators in mind, then gave it just enough GPU grunt so you can still kick back with a game or two. And that pitch works, at least most of the time. The design is probably the clearest sign of Gigabyte’s intent. This isn’t a laptop you’ll be embarrassed to pull out in a client meeting, nor is it one that screams for attention with RGB lights. The clean chassis and brushed-metal lid are a big step away from the aggressive, “gamer” styling we’ve come to expect from gaming brands – that even Gigabyte is guilty of in the past. And I like that – it makes the Aero X16 easier to fit into different settings, whether you’re working from a cafe, editing photos in the office, or squeezing in a gaming session at home.

Gigabyte:

De här grafikkorten levererar bäst 3D-prestanda för bärbara datorer. De kan hantera alla nya spel i hög upplösning och ofta med avancerade inställningar. Däremot är strömförbrukningen hög, så batteritiden blir lidande (med undantag för bärbara datorer med växlingsbar grafik). Som regel hittar man bara de här GPU:erna i större laptops.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop: Ett kommande grafikkort från Blackwell-familjen för bärbara datorer, som Team Green med största sannolikhet kommer att presentera på CES 2025. Med tanke på att den bärbara datorn 4070 har 4 608 unified shaders (CUDA-kärnor) kommer 5070 troligen att ha långt över 5 000 shaders.

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop: Mobilt grafikkort i mellanklassen från Blackwell-familjen baserat på GB206-chipet med 3328 shaders och 8 GB GDDR7-grafikminne (128 bit).

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:

Ryzen AI 7 350: En relativt kraftfull processor i Strix Point-familjen som debuterade i oktober 2024. APU:n med hybridarkitektur har 8 CPU-kärnor (en blandning av Zen 5- och Zen 5c-kärnor) som körs på upp till 5,0 GHz, tillsammans med Radeon 880M-grafikkortet och 50 TOPS XDNA 2-neuralmotorn. AMD Secure Processor (som i ett nötskal är en inbyggd ARM-co-processor) finns också ombord, liksom några andra avancerade funktioner, som AMD-Vi. Andra viktiga funktioner inkluderar PCIe 4, USB 4 och upp till LPDDR5x-8000 RAM-stöd, inklusive ECC RAM. Det långsiktiga TDP-effektmålet kan vara så högt som 55 W.

Ryzen AI 9 HX 370: Ett kraftfullt chip i Strix Point-familjen som förväntas lanseras i juni 2024. APU:n sägs ha 12 CPU-kärnor, en RDNA 3+-grafikkort med 16 CU och en 45 TOPS neuralmotor.
