I love the keyboards on ThinkPad notebooks, and the trackpads on MacBooks. But the XPS 15 is my new favorite laptop, hands down. This is not to downplay the XPS 13, itself a fine ultra-portable machine with tremendous upside. The price on the 13-inch machine begins at just $799, and it provides a tremendous experience if you don't need the additional power or larger, better display of the 15-inch model.

The Dell XPS 13 2016 edition is a solid update to the XPS 13 with several desirable improvements over older XPS notebooks. The chassis design is attractive and well thought out. The available hardware configurations make perfect sense for a premium 13-inch Ultrabook. The battery life is more than good enough for most road warriors and once you get used to the atypical placement of the webcam and the weak speakers this turns out to be a fantastic notebook for web conferencing while on the go.

The latest version of the Dell XPS 13 continues to be a best-in-class laptop. It has a chassis that's smaller than the competition's, strong performance, and a great keyboard and touchpad. In the end, the XPS 13's biggest competition is itself. The quad-HD display on the touch-screen version is more colorful and vibrant, while the nontouch model lasts 4 hours longer on a charge.

In terms of Dell's total package here, For anyone seeking a thin and light ultrabook that doesn't compromise on performance, you really don't need to look any further than the XPS 13. Many competing manufacturer's products, such as the new Macbook or the ASUS Zenbook UX305, have paired down their processing power to a Core M chip to maintain a thin profile.

The XPS 13 is a welcome return to tip-top form for Dell. In fact, there’s only one thing that really bugs me about the XPS 13, and that’s Dell’s stubborn insistence on forcing dynamic contrast on at all times. It's a stupid decision, in my opinion. That aside, I absolutely love this thing. I could wish for a better GPU – yes, I really do want a slim, gorgeous ultraportable that also plays GTA V – but it'll be a few years until ultraportables routinely come with decent gaming-class graphics. As it stands, this is a powerful, light, lovely ultraportable that comes a hair’s breadth from perfection. I think I can settle for that.

The refreshed Dell XPS 13 doesn’t go too far from its predecessor in terms of design and build quality. Both are impeccable and make the whole experience using the notebook a delight. Also, the choice of materials not only makes the notebook look and feel great but also add to the incredible sturdiness of the machine. We cannot miss mentioning the incredibly low weight and overall dimensions since the laptop features almost frameless screen design.

Dell's "prosumer" laptop gets a successful Intel Skylake refresh. The speedy processor is just one of many reasons to consider the XPS 13, with a stunning, near-borderless UHD+ display, exquisite build quality and a very capable webcam. Without wanting to downplay the importance of battery and storage, there are enough good things about the refreshed XPS 13 that living with its faults doesn't seem like a big price to pay. Of course, there is a very literal big price to pay, but even for that kind money you're getting a thin and light laptop with a gleaming new processor that can breeze through demanding tasks with the best of them - all while rendering in beautiful UHD+. It's not perfect, but it is our current favourite Skylake laptop.

Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrerad GPU (GT2) med 24 EU:er i vissa Skylake-processorer (15 W ULV-serien).

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

6200U: Skylake-baserad ULV-processor med dubbla kärnor för tunna bärbara datorer och ultrabooks. Inkluderar en integrerad HD Graphics 520-GPU och tillverkas i 14 nm.
