80% Dell Pro 13 Premium review: The very essence of a compact productivity laptop

For the home user, the biggest, nay, only issue with the new Dell Pro 13 Premium is the price. The cheapest version of the Dell Pro 13 Premium you should consider is the Core Ultra 236V (16GB RAM) with a 512GB SSD and the 400cd/m2 Full HD display, and that will set you back just under £1,950. Given the 2.5K screen only increases the price to £1,993, you should certainly tick that box, but that still doesn’t give you a display to match the Apple, Asus or Lenovo competition in terms of colour output or accuracy. Even the much-maligned Dell XPS 13 can be had with a 2.8K OLED touchscreen for £1,650. Everything else about the Dell Pro 13 Premium is bang on the money: It’s powerful, the speakers are great, it’s smart, well made and delivers impressive battery life.

Professional laptops come in all kinds of colours, as long as they’re black and grey, and Dell has provided us with an example of the finest grey. It’s nicely made, apart from the keyboard which is going to take a lot of getting used to, and provides respectable CPU performance in office and collaboration apps. Its relatively low-performance screen, along with its reliance on integrated graphics processing, means that this is destined for the kind of office that has more Excel and less InDesign, however.

Dell:

Det här är mindre avancerade grafikkort för användare som ändå vill kunna spela spel. Nya spel bör vara spelbara, men ofta bara med låga detaljinställningar och låg upplösning. Eftersom moderna grafikkort i den här klassen har låg strömförbrukning kan även batteritiden vara bra.

Intel Arc 140V: Ett ganska snabbt integrerat grafikkort som vissa Intel Lunar Lake-processorer enligt uppgift använder. 140V har 8 Xe²-arkitekturkärnor som körs i upp till 2 050 MHz och 8 strålspårningsenheter; det är DirectX 12 Ultimate-aktiverat och det stöder också alla moderna videocodecs. Om de senaste läckorna av benchmarkresultat är någon indikation, kommer dess spelprestanda att vara något bättre än GeForce MX570.

Intel Lunar Lake:

Core Ultra 7 268V: Den näst snabbaste processorn i Lunar Lake-familjen vid lanseringen. Det här är en SoC för användning i surfplattor och bärbara datorer av det tunnare slaget som har 4 helt nya E-kärnor och 4 något nya P-kärnor som körs i upp till 5,0 GHz, tillsammans med den lovande nya Arc 140V iGPU och 32 GB LPDDR5x-8533 RAM-minne i paketet. En ny 48 TOPS neuralmotor, TB 4 och PCIe 5 SSD-stöd ingår också. Det är inte troligt att 268V kommer att sätta nya prestandarekord. Vi förväntar oss att den ska leverera flerkärnig prestanda i nivå med Core i7-1260P och Core 5 120U.
