Recension av Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip: Kompakt och uthållig omvandlingsbar perfekt för universitet, kontor och soffa

Chic längdskidåkare. Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip B5302FEA finns som en campusmodell med ett fördelaktigt pris för studenter, lärare och andra. Men den omvandlingsbara datorn med Intel Core i5-1135G7 och uthålligt batteri är också ett bra val för det vanliga, aningen högre priset, vilket vår recension visar.

Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip med modellnummer B5302FEA-LG0081R är en 13,3-tums kompakt konvertibel dator som förutom som en klassisk bärbar dator även kan användas som en surfplatta. Som utbildningsmodell är enheten tillgänglig för studenter, lärare och andra berättigade personer med en campusprisfördel för endast 899 euro (~1 014 dollar).

Men enheten, som har ett prisbasbelopp på cirka 1 000 euro (~1 128 dollar), är också ett bra val för alla andra, vilket vår recension av modellen utrustad med Intel Core i5-1135G7, Intel Iris Xe G7 grafik (80 EUs), 16 GB RAM och 512 GB NVMe SSD visar. Vi testade modellen med en IPS-panel. Alternativt finns enheten även med en OLED-skärm mot en tilläggsavgift och i andra konfigurationsvarianter med Intel Core i7-1165G7 samt med mer eller mindre lagringsutrymme.

För vår granskning av Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip B5302FEA bjöd vi in flera andra konvertibla datorer till en duell, som alla spelar i en liknande pris- och utrustningsliga. Dessa inkluderar de två HP-enheterna, denPavilion x360 14 och Spectre x360 13 samt Acer Spin 3, alla med samma CPU och GPU.

Fall: Robust aluminiumhölje

Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip B5302FEA levereras i ett aluminiumhölje i antracit. Den har en högkvalitativ konstruktion och är ganska robust, vilket en certifiering enligt den amerikanska militärstandarden MIL-STD 810H visar. Enligt Asus ska den överleva fall från en höjd av 120 cm, isiga temperaturer med mera utan problem.

Basenheten är vridstyv, så enheten kan lätt bäras runt i ett hörn. Gångjärnen är ganska styva. Detta förhindrar att det "slamrar runt" under rörelser, men gör att det blir en skicklighetsspelning att öppna med en hand

Det granskade exemplaret är en av de lättare modellerna i vårt jämförelsefält med cirka 1,3 kg. Det är inte den mest kompakta och tunnaste cabrioleten, men den konkurrerar mycket väl med de andra modellerna. Den väger alltså knappt något på vägen och tar inte mycket plats i väskan

Portarna är en av ExpertBooks styrkor. Tack vare två Thunderbolt 4-portar och en HDMI 2.0-port kan upp till tre externa bildskärmar anslutas. En av de två USB-C-portarna upptas dock av strömadaptern när enheten är inkopplad. Det finns också en USB-A-port och en kombinerad ljudport, men tyvärr ingen kortläsare.

Asus avstår från en LAN-port för att hålla den konvertibla datorn så tunn som möjligt. Trots detta är trådbundna internetanslutningar möjliga via motsvarande port på vänster sida tack vare en medföljande LAN-till-mikro-HDMI-adapter

Webbkamera

På pappret är 720p HD-kameran inget speciellt, men i en duell med de andra konvertiblerna har kameran med 3D Noise Reduction-teknik (3DNR) det minsta Delta-E värdet med 8,29. Det mekaniska reglaget för att låsa kameran och mikrofonernas tvåvägs AI-ljudteknik för brusreducering är också positiva. Därmed är enheten väl rustad för videokonferenser och liknande även i bullriga miljöer

Säkerhet

Asus installerar ett dedikerat TPM 2.0-chip i ExpertBook B5 Flip B5302FEA för säker lagring av autentiseringsinformation som lösenord och krypteringsnycklar. Det finns en fingeravtryckssensor i strömknappen. Det finns också en port för Kensington-lås installerad.

Tillbehör

Förutom det obligatoriska nätaggregatet på 65 watt har Asus en inmatningspenna (magnetiskt fäst på baksidan) och den LAN-adapter som nämndes ovan.

Underhåll

Tio små Phillipsskruvar blockerar vägen inåt. RAM-minnet på 16 GB är fastlödd och kan kompletteras med ett andra RAM-minne på högst 32 GB och upp till 48 GB. Batteriet är fastskruvat och M.2-2280 SSD:n kan också bytas ut

Inmatningsenheter: Touchpad blir numpad

Tangentbord

Asus utnyttjar enhetens bredd på ett bra sätt för tangentbordet - bortsett från 2 cm (~0,8 tum) tunna marginaler till vänster och höger. Naturligtvis finns det inget utrymme för en numpad i den här enhetens storlek, men tangenterna har en hygglig storlek. Skrivandet känns bra, men det skulle kunna vara lite tystare och den haptiska återkopplingen skulle kunna vara av högre kvalitet. Det finns en bakgrundsbelysning, men den kan bara slås på och stängas av, inte dämpas.

Asus har tilldelat tangenterna F1 till F12 vissa funktioner, till exempel att sätta på och stänga av kameran, starta appen MyAsus och andra funktioner. Positivt: Tangentbordet är stänkskyddat, så ett spillt kaffe borde inte påverka det särskilt mycket.

Pekplatta

Pekplattan är placerad i mitten och mäter drygt 10 x 6 cm (~3,9 x 2,4 tum). Det räcker för att flytta musen från den ena kanten till den andra när man rör sig snabbt. Precision och haptiken är okej. Klickytorna på den nedre kanten borde dock fungera lite tystare så att enheten utan ånger kan användas även i tysta bibliotek.

En positiv egenskap bör nämnas: Via en ikon i övre högra hörnet förvandlas pekplattan till ett sifferfält och ersätter därmed det saknade fysiska sifferfältet. Detta är särskilt praktiskt när man använder miniräknare, kalkylator och liknande.

Enheten vi testade är inte utrustad med den valfria OLED-skärmen, utan med en matt IPS-skärm med LED-bakgrundsbelysning. Den löser upp med FHD (1 920 x 1 080 pixlar) i 16:9-format och tar upp 76 procent av höljets lock.

Eftersom det är en konvertibel kan skärmen vridas 360 grader till enhetens baksida via de stabila gångjärnen och erbjuder naturligtvis också touchstyrning - antingen med fingret eller den medföljande stylus. Det fanns inga iögonfallande problem här i vårt test.

Den maximala ljusstyrkan ligger strax under 300 cd/m², vilket bör räcka för de flesta tillämpningar. Eftersom svartvärdet samtidigt är mycket lågt uppnår panelen ett mycket högt kontrastförhållande på mer än 1 600:1 och den subjektiva visningen är också mycket bra. Dessutom ser inte ens ljusa ytor alltför gryniga ut på den matta panelen.

Detta gäller även molnigheten, som knappast förekommer vid visning av en helt svart bild. Du kan endast se lätta halos i kanterna

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

The frequency of 26600 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering.

In comparison: 52 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 21159 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Prestanda: GPU:n förhindrar ett ännu bättre resultat

Testutrustningen är utrustad med följande Intel Core i5-1135G7 Fyrkärnig processor, som är känd för att öka upp till 4,2 GHz. En dedikerad grafiklösning är utelämnad och man förlitar sig istället på Intels Iris Xe-grafik. Asus installerar en 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz SO-DIMM RAM-modul, som är lödd och fungerar i enkanaligt läge. En minnesexpansion på upp till 48 GB är valfritt möjlig tack vare en ledig plats.

Förutom Windows prestandanivåer kan olika lägen ställas in via MyAsus-appen. Vi utförde huvudsakligen våra benchmarks i det balanserade läget. Alternativt finns ett prestandaläge och ett whisper-läge tillgängliga. Boost-läget hade ingen särskilt stor inverkan i ett jämförelsetest med Cinebench R15 och 3DMark 11. Om enheten däremot ska köras så tyst som möjligt minskar resultatet av spelbenchmarken och därmed prestandan med ytterligare 20 %

Processor

Intel Core i5-1135G7 tillhör Intels 11:e CPU-generation (Tiger Lake) och är en populär processor i billigare bärbara datorer och konvertibler. Den består av fyra kärnor med en basklocka på 2,4 GHz och en boostklocka på 4,2 GHz. Tillverkarna kan använda chipet med en TDP på 12 till 28 watt, varvid Asus använder det maximala.

ExpertBook B5 Flip B5302FEA kan vanligtvis placera sig långt fram i prestandatesterna. Den ligger bara strax bakom HP ProBook x360 435 i mätningarna med en enda kärna HP ProBook x360 435 G8 med AMD Ryzen 7 5800U. Men processorn kan som vanligt inte hänga med i benchmarks med flera kärnor och ligger klart efter AMD-konkurrenten.

Även den Asus Zenbook Flip 13 UX363EA-HP069T med den faktiskt mer potenta Intel Core i7-1165G7 ligger bakom testkandidaten. I uthållighetstestet Cinebench R15 sjunker processorns prestanda något i början för att sedan lägga sig på en jämn nivå. Benchmarks avslöjar inga anmärkningsvärda prestandaförluster i batteriläge
