The Acer Swift X is not the perfect laptop. I’d prefer a better display, an improved touchpad, and more reliable Wi-Fi. Acer should also work on its chassis design for its budget laptops, as this has been a consistent oversight with the company's laptops in the Aspire and Swift line. Take one glance at the laptop’s performance and these problems melt away. Yes, a sleek and modern design with carbon fiber weave or laser-cut edges is nice, but that won’t make Far Cry run more smoothly or complete a Blender render more quickly. But if you care about the physical appearance of your laptop, the MacBook Air and Asus Vivobook line deliver roughly comparable performance and better materials at a slightly higher price. With an MSRP above $1,000, the Swift X model I reviewed typically sells below that all-important watermark. If you’re on an even tighter budget, Acer sells an alternative model with a Ryzen 5 5600U processor and RTX 3050 GPU that’s even less expensive. Shoppers looking for a fast yet portable laptop shouldn’t pass by the Acer Swift X. It’s an outstanding value.

As mentioned, the 2022 Acer Swift X (with model numbers starting SFX14-51G instead of this unit's SFX14-41G) is a different design with a sharper 2,240-by-1,440-pixel display; it's also slightly lighter at 3.09 pounds. That makes it tempting, but it's likely to cost more than the AMD-based Swift X here. The latter fills a kind of neither-fish-nor-fowl niche—it's a bit heavier than an ultraportable and falls short of a full-fledged gaming rig or workstation—but it's a speedy compromise at a fair price. The Swift X doesn't earn Editors' Choice honors, but it definitely has its attractions, if you need a little bit more power (CPU and GPU alike) for the money in a mainstream machine.

At the end of the day, the current Acer Swift X really is my favourite laptop on the market right now. I think if I was heading off to college or university right now, the Acer Swift X would be the absolute ideal companion. It packs all the performance I need for work, while still having the capabilities for some time off when gaming. Battery life is also solid enough to allow for a whole day of classes if I tweaked the settings a bit. Even anyone seeking a cheap entry-level gaming laptop might want to consider this one. It’s a bit of a shame that it took until October of last year for it to arrive on our shores really, but until the next generation Acer Swift X appears, this will perhaps be the best laptop for anyone wanting portable performance while on a budget.

To summarize this Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 review, this unit is blazingly fast. This laptop is in the same league and even outperforms Dell XPS and Macbooks, for much less $$. And you can play some games on it due to its iGPU and dedicated GPU that are normally found on a gaming laptop. Sure, you can find other laptops that are more powerful than this, but you’re going to sacrifice the weight and the battery life.

All in all, the Swift X's performance does resemble the Swift 3X in some ways, albeit with more power due to the AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU. It's very much a productivity laptop designed for content creators who are on the go. Honestly, I can't really nitpick as there isn't anything bad about it. It works well, the battery's life is quite durable, and it can handle a decent media workload. If the RM4999 price tag is a bit too much for you, you can always go for the AMD Ryzen 5 + 8GB RAM variant at RM4299. That said, the price is probably the only downside, but you get what you pay. For its value, I say the Swift X could be worth getting if you happen to be a content creator who needs a compact laptop. Otherwise, you can also go for the less powerful Swift 3X (i5) that's priced at RM3799.

With an octo-core Ryzen 7 5800U, the Swift X offers blazing application performance and strong multimedia performance. I’m not saying you need a 15.6-inch or larger laptop to run Photoshop and other media-creation and -editing apps, but I would argue you need at least a 14-inch display with a 16:10 ratio. The 14-inch, 16:9 display isn’t a barrier, however, for gamers to pick the Swift X. It’s a better fit as a laptop for students or office workers: light enough to carry around each day and powerful enough to play games each night.

The new Acer Swift X is a little, badass workhorse laptop. It’s not exactly your fancy ultrabook, and it won’t necessarily turn heads when you unleash it at the local coffee shop, but that’s not really what it’s there for. Acer created this laptop for a simple purpose – get the work done without any extra bells and whistles. If you like simplicity over everything else, the Acer Swift X SFX14-41G-R1S6 is certainly a great laptop for you. It is one of those laptops you get when budget and productivity are at the top of your list – and these days, that’s all we can ask for in a laptop.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU:

De här grafikkorten bör klara av alla nuvarande spel med acceptabel bildfrekvens, men inte nödvändigtvis med höga inställningar. Särskilt krävande spel kanske bara fungerar med låga inställningar. Till skillnad från prestandakorten hittar man däremot de här grafikkorten i bärbara datorer av lite mindre format med bättre batteritid.
