Lenovos Yoga C630 är ytterligare ett steg mot att Windows on ARM (eller som i det här fallet, Windows on Snapdragon — WOS) blir ett praktiskt alternativ, men detta kommer inte utan en oundviklig uppsättning förbehåll. Den största av dessa är kompatibiliteten, vilket troligen kommer visa sig vara ett problem under enhetens tid hos en genomsnittlig användare, åtminstone då och då. Parallellt med det finns avvikelserna i prestanda, som bäst kan beskrivas som dikotoma: för appar som är optimerade för ARM kan chippet vara ganska snabbt, men för alla andra börjar det krypa fram betydligt långsammare än sina motsvarigheter från Intel. Problematiskt nog avspeglar priset inte de utmaningar som kommer av alla dessa ofärdiga saker: över 9.000 kronor är mycket att be om för en dator som, åtminstone till viss del, inte känns redo för den stora ligan.

Yoga C630 har en unik uppsättning fördelar gentemot traditionella x86-drivna maskiner, såsom den extra effektiva Connected Standby-implementeringen, en högst portabel formfaktor och en fläktlös design. Men för ett såpass högt pris gör förekomsten av kompatibilitetsproblem och substantiella avvikelser i prestanda mellan ARM- och x86-appar att den blir svår att rekommendera.

Det finns också några andra nämnvärda nackdelar. Portutbudet är notoriskt begränsat och det finns ingen möjlighet till underhåll eller uppgraderingar (med tanke på de interna komponenternas monolitiska natur). Slutligen rör ett sista mindre klagomål lagringen, som — även om den är snabbare än en hårddisk eller eMMC — inte riktigt går att jämföra med de flesta moderna SSD-enheter på grund av laggig 4K eller dålig skrivprestanda oavsett ködjup.

Men det finns också många ljusglimtar och en del av dem är stora om du kan tänka dig att hantera utmaningarna som listats ovan. Dessa leds av ett närmast omedelbart sömnläge/uppvakning vilket möjliggörs av Connected Standy-funktionen ("Alltid På, Alltid Ansluten", som Lenovo uttrycker det) samt möjligheten att uppdatera epost och annat innehåll i standby-läge. Bara den funktionen kommer troligen visa sig vara otroligt lockande för vägkrigare eller studenter som förlitar sig på att ha tillgång till sin laptop närhelst det behövs.

Härnäst kommer den passiva kylningen, som inte bara gör maskinen tyst utan också minskar risken för mekaniska fel (eftersom fläkten i dagsläget oftast är den enda eldrivna mekaniska enheten i en laptop). Mobiliteten ökar ordentligt tack vare en mindre formfaktor (vilket till viss del möjliggörs av det pyttiga moderkortet och avsaknaden av en kylfläkt) och lägre vikt. Slutligen är både konstruktionen och inmatningsenheterna totalt sett riktigt bra. Trots bekymren med prestanda och kompatibilitet så verkar denna laptop redo för att tävla med de kända Ultrabook-tungviktarna.

För att summera så har (vid skrivande stund, Januari 2019) traditionella Intel-drivna Ultrabook-modeller definitivt ett kraftigt prestandaövertag. Men allt eftersom de ARM-optimerade apparna blir fler och fler kan det komma en tid i en inte allt för avlägsen framtid där dessa skillnader i prestanda plötsligt börjar minska. Huruvida de unika fördelarna med en fläktlös, ultratunn och alltid ansluten enhet överväger nackdelarna hos den inkonsekventa, allmänt ostadiga och kluvna prestanda är en fråga som får avgöras på individuell nivå.
