Asus nya ROG Strix GL502VS gjorde ett övergripande positivt intryck. Huvudattraktionen är förstås den enorma prestandan från Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070-kortet. Gamers som inte är alltför bullerkänsliga bör bli mycket nöjda med datorn.

Några nackdelar bör också nämnas. Den sviktande chassit kunde varit bättre, men testmodellen är från ett av de första partierna, så nyare modeller kan vara bättre i det avseendet. Vi är heller inte helt nöjda med pekplattans glid och det begränsade färgomfånget på den den i övrigt utmärkta IPS-skärmen. Skärmens svarstider kan vara för långsamma för vissa spelare också.

Det finns bara två SODIMM-platser, men det spelar mindre roll eftersom datorn är utrustad med 32 GB DDR4-RAM. 15-tumsenheter med så här mycket prestanda är aldrig ljudlösa – och konkurrenterna är antagligen inte tystare – men det låter ändå lite för mycket i vårt tycke.

Det finns desto mer positivt att säga: Det jämförelsevis lätta chassit ser bra ut och bör uppfylla målgruppens förväntningar. Asus förtjänar också beröm för det väl tilltagna och moderna porturvalet. Prestandan håller också förväntad nivå, så de tekniska aspekterna får klart godkänt. Det positiva intrycket avrundas av ett bra tangentbord och en mestadels övertygande skärm. Vi kan därför rekommendera systemet med tidigare nämnda reservationer.
