With an improved camera and much better design, it looks like a premium handset you’d be proud to show off… even if can’t stay still on a flat surface. Our only real peeve lies with the Emotion UI, which still feels like a cheap Apple imitation at best. The OnePlus 3 is really the only handset that trumps the Honor 8 in this price range when it comes to value-for-money, which is surely testament to what you’re getting. Just like it did with the Honor 5X, Huawei has done a good job finding the right balance between features, performance, and price for the Honor 8. It’s not perfect (I’ve yet to see a phone that is), but it shows a level of polish that other phones at this price and below lack. In a way, the Honor 8 is sort of a sleeper. By now I may have already answered most of your queries. The Huawei Honor 8 indeed appears to stand up to the OnePlus 3 and packs in something different in the form of a dual camera setup and outstanding build quality. Unfortunately it does not stand up to the OnePlus 3 which offers better value, better camera quality and better battery life. It also does not come with Dash Charge, a brawny Snapdragon 820 chipset, 6GB RAM and it also does not seem to support LTE bands in India.

The phone enjoys a nice design, compact and attractive, even if it’s possibly delicate with the glass background. The phone’s fast CPU but slower GPU give mixed performance. It runs well for most tasks and lasts for a full two days on a single charge, but gamers will want a different phone. The USB-C charger tops off the battery quickly and helps make it relevant for a few years as most manufacturers ditch micro-USB for Type-C.

Even though we got to fiddle with a pre-release unit for only a fairly short time, we were instantly attracted to the build quality and aesthetics. The Honor 8's camera seems to work well in all kinds of lightning conditions, and the the Pro Photo mode has controls that a serious photographer will appreciate. Honor has thought of handy little tweaks in the software as well. So that's that then - Huawei may be trying to run Honor as a separate brand in some regions, but the Chinese company's design philosophy is clearly visible in the 8. A flashier P9 without the Leica branding we can certainly live with. Knowing you save €150 over the original model makes it a very attractive offer. And there weren't any major corners cut either - outside of the missing film modes and the more limited use of the monochrome sensor the Honor 8 didn't really feel inferior in any way. The glass design might be a bit too flashy for some, but others will certainly prefer it over the metal of the P9.

So far, I’m impressed. There have been a few little hiccups like some struggles scrolling through long lists but that might be chalked up to the phone breaking in. I’m trying to keep in mind that this is a $400 phone but it feels like it’s punching above its weight. The build quality feels like a device twice the price and will challenge the best from Samsung, LG, Sony, and HTC.

If it had amazing battery life, it might have been an easier pull to swallow, but as it is, this doesn't do enough to earn the top spot.

Before even approaching the pricing of the Honor 8, this is a really great phone. Externally, it's slick and can grab eyes with a few subtle design features while also feeling solid and built with high tolerances. The metal and glass protect really great internal specs that can power the phone through all of your regular tasks, with a battery that lasts all day (and then some), and you can view it all on a really top-end display. The camera, while coming up short of amazing, is great in many situations and leverages its dual sensors for neat effects and better image quality.

The Kirin 960 is currently Huawei’s top-of-the-line SoC and promises good processing power, and the 6GB of RAM will help with multitasking. Honor essentially took the Honor 8 as a base, enlarged it and fixed some of the flaws and shortcomings to create the Honor 8 Pro. The Honor 8 itself is a great phone and the 8 Pro is even better. The lack of 4K recording, the slippery design, battery life and many other aspects have been addressed. The audio department could still use some improvement but nonetheless, it seems to offer more value for money than the Honor 8 did. However, that precisely was the problem of the Honor 8, at least in India where it was priced much higher than it should’ve been.

We did like the Honor 8 and as far as the design goes, Honor 8 Lite picks up almost everything from its flagship variant. Needless to say, Honor 8 Lite looks very stylish in the hands due to its compact design and glass body. The battery life is the second most thing we like followed by the cameras. The only good thing we will miss in the phone is the dual cameras.

Overall, the Honor 8 Lite has more ticks than crosses. It comes with a compact design language, has an improved UI, gives a good battery backup and has a good camera performance. On the downside, the phone is a fingerprint magnet, looks eerily similar to its elder sibling and shimmers a bit during low light conditions. Which is not to say that it will not face a lot of heat in the market from not just well-placed veterans (now!) like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, both of which have done exceptionally well in the Indian market, but also from their successors, the Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. Add the likes of the Android One Powered Moto One Power, the Xiaomi Mi A2 with its terrific cameras, and the rather gorgeous Nokia 6.1 Plus to the mix, and you can see that the Honor 8X, for all its head-turning ability, does have a lot to contend with. Its design is certainly unparalleled, but it does not quite stand as alone when it comes to performance. But there definitely is a new beauty in cell town.

The Honor 8X is a big-screen phone with an affordable price tag. It’s a good experience to watch videos on it, play games, but the phone itself is quite unwieldy. It’s glossy design and generous amounts of glass might did put me off, but it’s up to you, the buyer, to decide whether you want something that looks good but is quite delicate at the same time. The performance in general is quite commendable but the UI, like all Honor and Huawei phones aren’t the best, aesthetically speaking. As for the camera, it can take decent photos in daylight, but expecting a good low-light performance from it is a bit too much.

The only minor comment I would make about the GUI is the fact that you have to have a Huawei ID if you want make use of features like HiCare, Health, the AppGallery (to be honest I’d uninstall this, it’s really not needed and you should probably just stick with Google Play) and Themes. It’s not all the fault of Huawei / Honor – after all, other manufacturers have their own ecosystems that they try and foist on us, but it’s a bit of a pain to have another login credential to remember.

So, I can say that Strava seems fine and the battery life is epic. I can also say that there’s a lot of very clever Honor / Huawei wizardry going on under the hood to maintain your experience. Oh, and just while I’m here – that “Force full screen” option that is normally offered when an app doesn’t quite fill this capacious 6.5″ 19.5:9 screen is tucked away in the Settings->Apps, so if you want to force a full screen experience you’ll need to go in there.

Today I’ve been taking photos. I left the AI mode on for a lot of the images you’re about to see and, as it’s a dark and windy Autumnal day, there wasn’t a great deal of light to help. That AI system will magically take a look down the lens and will detect what you’re trying to take a photo of. Then it’ll twiddle around with the settings in the camera to make the shot as good as.

Honor 8C ₹ 11,999 is all set to be launched in India this week, just six months after the launch of the Honor 7C. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, the new smartphone features AI-enhanced cameras, a notched display, and Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. To recall, it was launched in China last month. The Honor 8C is expected to be launched in two variants, one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. We got to spend some time with the latter variant of the Honor 8C before its official India launch - scheduled for November 29 - and here are our first impressions.

The Honor 8C seems to be an important product for he company but it doesn’t offer anything new other than the chipset. Its display and design aren’t up to the mark as expected from Honor smartphones. An IANS report suggests the Honor 8C will be priced around Rs 15,000. If so, then the smartphone will face fierce competition from phones like Realme 2 Pro and the newly launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro.

Things like a power-efficient processor and a trendy back panel design are much appreciated, though Honor can still improve the Honor 8S, especially with the camera UI.

Honor:

En del nyare spel kan spelas med de här grafikkorten, men bara om de är mindre krävande. De har ändå tillräcklig kapacitet för kontorsbruk och film (möjligen högupplöst). Är grafikkretsen dessutom integrerad kan batteritiden vara utmärkt.

Bara vissa äldre spel kan spelas flytande med de här grafikkorten. Kretsar med delat minne har fördelen att de utvecklar mindre värme och ger längre batteritid. De duger gott för kontorsbruk, surfande och enklare bildbehandling, men spel och HD-video är inte i syftet med de här kretsarna.

De här grafikkorten är inte lämpliga för spel. Om spelet fungerar alls är det ofta med mycket låg bildfrekvens och andra problem med renderingen. Vanligt kontorsbruk och surfande bör däremot fungera bra.
